    Fish poop wasn't enough for my tanks unfortunately even after waiting a year + heavy feeding with a deep sand substrate. I remember I couldn't even grow java moss in that tank until one day I decided to try some aquarium co-op root tabs, and boom my plants went wild. Even my dead java moss came back to life, some of the nutrients from the tabs must've leeched and been feeding the water column plants as well.

      Fair point it’s all about the micronutrients the best way is to start with a nutrient substrate and let that age but root tabs are better than in tank ferts by far (dead fish work great as root tabs ;) )

    Good morning I just started watching your channel yesterday and I like what I see so far and my name is Epo and I am a 65 year old disabled man who was born and rasied in chiTown but I been living here in Florida now for the last 20 years now and here is my story I been having fish tanks for most of my 65 years of life but of course I been doing it wrong all of that time lol but around a year or so ago I started to put live plants inside my 2 fishtanks wihich lasted for a few good months then I dont know what happened because my fish started to die about a month ago where I was able to save 4 or 5 fish but the rest all died and it broke my heart because I dont like anything to die on my watch

      Anyway so I took all of the dead out kept the plants in and refilled the water to the line and I watched and checked my water for about a month before I redid it again and this time I am growing a sweet potato in my tank but what I please need your help with is what other good and beautiful type of plants can I use outside my tank that would work better and easier for this old man please? Give me names and where I can buy them please? Thank you young man! :)

    great video, very helpful and very informative, but i cant figure out why my water sprite turned brown and died in few days and i had a green algae outbreak .after being fine for 5 months on my 15gallon tank ..... (84F , 4 electric blue rams, java fern as well in there and that goes black now)

    • @rayquatics23
      @rayquatics23  12 дней назад

      Did u get alagee outbreak before or after the water sprite died? Also did you grow your water sprite in substrate or floating?

    • @dk-ku4tc
      @dk-ku4tc 12 дней назад

      @@rayquatics23 before , I had it float at the bottom of the tank nothing buried or attached to anything was doing well and roots were growing. Also at the same tank I can never grow anacharis for some unknown reason, and guppy grass barely makes it now(also Java moss never grew or extended it’s root and same moss once put on another smaller tank it started growing within few weeks ) I just dosed flourish rarely after I saw things not doing well but couldn’t fix anything or see changes with or without flourish

      @dk-ku4tc 12 дней назад +1

      @@rayquatics23 ph 8 range tap water, kh unknown but I’m using the same water on every tank lol maybe my light is too much or idk what makes them die, with your video I just lean towards the fact that I might need more fish for more poop or something

      Yes either more fertilizer or even just more plants, if them getting overwhelmed by alagee adding more plants helps combat it. I’d say instead of adding more fertilizer just let the tank do its thing for a couple months see what happens
