For new players out there. you get free set gears from Adventure, Guide quest, and Tower. Also, save your hammers, they give you tons at first but if you upgrade every gear you get you will run out. You can upgrade Red gears, but for others I'll wait till 5-8 stars blue or green gears or if you a stuck and need that gear stat push.
You get quite a decent amount of hammers later on from farming Glicys and Chimera, i think the gold will be the biggest issue rather than the hammers haha
Personally im saving the books because you dont need the max s2 and s3 to finish the pve content in the game but its not a bad investment, im only saving the books because they'll become really scarce later on
@CT no wonder you didn't understand my question , Epic7 is like this game, but it's less complicated, a Knight Class unit job is protect the party and take some of the % of damage from them .

Gold is the real problem.
You get hammers from expedition btw.
And for late game its better to up gear sub stat first before upgrade them with hammer.
ushi said being tanky in endgame ist most important. cuz he got aoe oneshotted when he had full dmg gear. so he switchet to 2 def and 2 health set

They said they will add more ways to earn shards in i believe one of their patch notes so i am hopeful
What I don't like from this game is too much rarity like no color,green,blue and red and it's not done yet each gear also has 0-5 stars in it
It might be confusing for new players but you'll get used to it quite fast i believe
