    Wow, it's mind boggling just realizing how remote the Island is. I hope they do open the container vessel to tourists as well to get to the Island, similar to the St Helena boat and hopefully the Island looks more heavily into and develop yacht tourism.
    I'm enjoying this series. Thank you!

    How easy or difficult is it to get stuff onto the island? I'd live there if 24/7 electricity and water, perhaps through renewable energy, like a wind turbine, were possible... Internet (through Starlink) should be possible too. I wonder why people haven't brought over the required construction materials to build a hotel or a resort where guests can stay in comfort.

    I heard it's really hard to stay on pitcairn for an extended period since the locals are really trying to get you off there after a week or so. Do you have any good examples of longer-term tourists? How did you manage to get the 8 weeks visa?

      Hi Darius! I havnt heard of people having issues staying for longer periods. Last time I was there I remember a man who was on a year long visit. It would make sense for the island to encourage longer term visits so I hope there arnt issues around that. I am a relative of the islanders so getting a Visa was very easy. For anyone that wishes to stay more than 14 days a Visa is required which costs $150

      I wonder if 5 Eyes (USA, UK, Can, Aus, NZ) would respond with military if a group of mercenaries pulled a coup on Pitcairn? Good base for Pirates.

    I recently watched your first series of vlogs to Pitcairn, which were really well done. However, I didn't realize you were a relative. I was curious......are the islanders having any difficulty keeping the younger generation on Pitcairn?

    • @bradbrown3447
      @bradbrown3447  4 года назад

      Yes the islands ageing population is a big threat to the island and the younger generations haven't been staying on the island. A few have moved back recently so there is hope :)

      Seems like some quality people on Pitcairn. One of the best appears to be Tom Christian. Not sure if you got to know him when he was alive. I ran across this classic video made back in '63 with him at about your age ruclips.net/video/fzFngytruNU/видео.html

    I contacted them about visiting and was told it's even a $70 stay per night on the island, and like you say you could be there for 60-90 days. Are you willing to reveal how much you spent on the entire trip?

    • @bradbrown3447
      @bradbrown3447  4 года назад +1

      Most tourists that visit are only there for 4-11 days. If you were there for months renting an entire house would most likely be cheaper. I am happy to share my spend however it would not be relative to tourists visiting as i am related to many of the islanders and because of this i was able to stay for free. (with my aunty and uncle) Also the trip from NZ to PItcairn direct on the ship is reserved for relatives and is considerably cheaper than flying to Tahiti and catching the ship from there. It is not a cheap excercise but the experience is second to none
