A civilian motorcycle rider, possibly on a Harley Davidson, is seen here escorting an ambulance on the ring road that goes around Paris in heavy traffic. He has his four-way flashers on and makes clear hand gestures to the cars to move over. The ambulance is responding lights and sirens to an emergency or possibly going to a hospital. Nice "American siren" as they say in France, coupled with the French two-tone siren. Gonesse SAMU 95.

Not really sure if this was helpful or not but last time I shared the same 2 lane highway with an ambulance, me and this other random driver blocked off both lanes on our side of the highway, and we stayed back about 100 feet from the ambulance, so no other drivers could pass it.

@Rohan Luke the fact that they were making illegal lane changes all around the ambulance is enough of a reason. That probably made the ambulance driver more nervous worrying about the bikers instead of the task at hand. If you really are a medic you should know this and im calling bs on that.

Thank god the bikers made such professional traffic gestures to cars. Otherwise the ambulance siren would have never been enough.

Its due to the fact that ambulances there aren’t recognised as important and people don’t actually move out the way. Usually there is police escorts specifically for the ambos but obviously in this case there wasnt.

The motorcycle was doing literally nothing to help the ambulance. You think someone who doesn't see/doesn't care about the big ambulance with lights and sirens is going to see/care about a little bike with their 4-ways on? Of course not.
The bike is just getting in the way, and the ambulance driver probably assumed the bike was trying to take advantage of the lights and sirens to cut through traffic.
If you want to ride around on your bike with flashy lights, and telling people to get out of your way, then became a police officer. Don't do stupid shit like this, which is not only rude, and dangerous, but also illegal.

No only would I have to worry about hitting the cars, I would have to worry about getting the bikes tangled up in the wheels. I'm trained for lights and sirens driving and I know what I intend to do. The motorcyclists are not trained and do not know my intentions. They were not helping.

As a matter of fact, they weren’t escorting, they were just riding along, ambulance or not. It’s just one guy that made a hand sign to the car driver that probably wasn’t paying attention, but they’re not really escorting anyone here. They’re just using the fact cars move out of the way for the ambulance for them to also go through.

Yeah his channel is called "Beijing Volunteer First Aider" and he actually uses sirens and strobes on his motorcycle (illegally, I must say). Nonetheless he does a great job.

My experience of driving in Paris is that driver's don't usually move out of the way for emergency viechle's bus and taxi drivers totally ignore them.

Certain parts of the UK (eg; France) many drivers don't move out of the way for the ambulance. The motorcyclists are actually helping in that part but not 100% sure if the one parting the front was trying to stick with the group. It's a bit of a mixed take.
In Germany you would've paid 200€, gotten a point/strike and a month suspension from driving for not making a gap

The fact the driver noticed the camera man on a bridge just shows how aware he is over the entire situation. Seeing nothing but cars in the direction he needs to go. The suicidal bikers pretending be to the secret service probably added layers of unneeded pressure.

For you idiots that think the motorcycle was slowing down the ambulance or affecting them at all. Motorcycles are much more effective at moving and directing traffic. Also if that is a motorcyclist in the ambulance he could be one of their friends and they're all there in support of their brother

Just a helpless spectator. Feeling guilty for not being able to help before it happened and helpless because there is no way to help right now, but you want so desperate to help to save the life of someone who might be a fellow biker from their MC or a very good friend or someone else very close to them? - That´s one of several possible reasons why people sometimes act like these bikers did. --- I never said that they "had to" or "should" do what they did.

You have to appreciate the pressure I was a back seater (rear of a rig) in Ukraine and big cities with 4 lane rounds are packed and the stress is immense knowing seconds are critical i ended up getting out some times and moving cars ( I was armed so that helps) but people can be so ignorant of their surrounding it astounds me

This motorcyclist endangered himself and others. His intentions were good but the ambulance has flashing lights and sirens, and the drivers are always trained to deal with traffic. I can understand why the ambulance driver was frustrated - not only did he have a sick or injured passenger to be concerned over, he then had a motorcyclist creating potential havoc.

What a weird situation. The motorcyclists somewhat blocking the ambulance and making it more dangerous and the ambulance driver taking both his hands off the wheel to flick you off. So unprofessional and dangerous.
