    I'd been using the SanDisk Ultra for a good few months and occasionally when recording 4K footage on my Panasonic G85, the video recording would stop with a warning screen. While you can restart the recording after a 10 second wait, it does make recording with the camera unreliable.
    To solve this, I switched over to the SanDisk Extreme SDXC, I did initially consider the SanDisk Extreme Pro, however for my use case of recording 100Mb/s 4K, I hoped that the SanDisk Extreme would be fast enough.
    In the testing, I found that both card's read speeds were very similar, however the write speeds was where there was a big difference.
    The SanDisk Ultra's write speeds ranged from 8-40MB/s, which was too unreliable for constant 4K recording. While the SanDisk Extreme's write speed was always above 60MB/s.

    Very good comparison. The point about encryption for the SD card is pretty solid, i'd hope it to come soon someday when it is acknowledged as big enough problem

    I want to get a card for my camera and found out that there's no fast SD cards in my town. Only MicroSD with adapters. So I was curious how much is the difference.

    Hi. I was wondering if you know the problem. When I transfer videos or pictures from my internal storage to my micro sd card external storage, the videos and pictures is corrupted. It becomes all black with the lighting bolt. I dont know why. Please help. Do I need to reformat the sd card? I have the samsung 64gb microsdxc.

      I've never experienced this issue, can you let me know a little more, have they ever worked in the past, are you on Mac or Windows and how are you transferring the files? I personally have my cards formatted as ExFAT - you can give that a go.

    I just got a hero7 and got sandisk Ultra plus 128gb do you think I need to exchange it to extreme? I may just video in 1080 will ultra plus fine?

    • @headsoftech
      @headsoftech  4 года назад +1

      I used an Ultra for a good few years and had no problems with it in 1080p. 4K is 50/50 though. If you can exchange for an Extreme, then yeah do it, because it keeps 4k60p open as an option for you, but if you're just 1080p for life then it's not that big of a deal.

    I’ve been using the sandisc ultra for gopro hero 7 black 4k60.. nothing I can see wrong with the footage.. do I still need the extreme?

    • @headsoftech
      @headsoftech  5 лет назад

      Hey mate, the Ultra should have enough bandwidth for the GoPro 7 Black 4k60, which requires around 78Mb/s write, so just less than the minimum writing speed of the Ultra at 10MB/s. So if it's working for you, it's all good. The only thing worth noting is that while I've had no problems with the Ultra in over 2 years of use - as long as I don't use it with a proper 4k camera, the Extreme edition is rated to be more all round reliable.

      sandisk ultra for entry level ,sandisk extreme for medium level and sandisk extreme pro for high end level. I prefer extreme pro. I believe it is more reliable.

    how many minutes/hours you can record before any warning on the typical ultra sd

    • @headsoftech
      @headsoftech  6 лет назад

      Hey mate, I'd say 4/5 times it'd work without issue, but 1/5 times it'd choke up. When it did work, it'd shoot without any warnings, for as long as I needed or until the battery died (over an hour), but every now and then it would only go for 1-5 minutes then the warning would appear and the recording would stop, but you could hit record again after a couple of seconds and it'd start up again. For the SanDisk Extreme I've had no problems with it at all.

      mmm i won't take the risk then, thanks for the info, i was looking for a similar sd, the samsung evo plus, i have the 32gb version and i had no problems at all

    • @headsoftech
      @headsoftech  5 лет назад +1

      Hey mate, the S9 records HEVC 4k30p at 30MB/s and 4k60p at 42MB/s so yeah the Extreme is more than good enough for that speed.

    I wouldn't even risk it using a micro SD in an adapter if it's for a camera. The adapter's contacts might mess up, and so I would risk losing precious data (corrupted photos and footage).
