DOUBLING my Trooper's cargo space with one mod

- The supercharged Isuzu Trooper was tight on rear storage space for a long time. Scouring the planetisuzoo forums I read that the underseat storage compartment is just a little plasitc bucket in a much bigger space. To my surprise I was shocked about how much space was actually down there!
Check it out!
SPECS: Eaton M62 supercharged Isuzu Trooper with 6VE1 3.5 V6. AR5 Manual Transmission, diff drop, 3 inch lift, OME Springs, ARB bumper, smittybilt roof rack and winch.
I just went out and did this. So much more room. Thanks for the tip!
So glad it helped!
DUDE!!!! I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW IT HAD THAT!!!!🤯 I got a 2002 Trooper 6 months ago, and now I gotta do this!!! Thank you so much for showing this!!❤❤❤
@@NativeTrooper976 it's very convenient!
I mounted my air compressor in there and wired up a couple of CPU fans to kick on when it does. I'll have to do a video of it.
Oh yeah! That's sweet! There's definitely plenty of room for it!
Waiting for your vid then bud...😎☝🏻
Following!!
great video! trooper videos with tips and tricks are hard to come by
You've said it☝🏻😎!....
Hey Cody, thanks for sharing that. Had no idea. And thanks for sticking with your Trooper. We love having videos of as many Troopers as possible. Like adrenaline junkies except we're Trooper junkies!
So many of our other Trooper channels have moved on (traitors! 😅) to other not so interesting formats. I've unsubed from I think two other channels this last week.
Hang in there Cody we very much appreciate all your efforts. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks so much for your feedback! I've had my trooper since 2009 and no plans on getting rid of it anytime soon!
Everybody is going Toyota, and that is incredibly boring...
@@claudiocisternas2920 Not to mention EXPENSIVE. The "Toyota Tax" is crazy these days! These Trooper's do have their flaws, but I like Isuzu's build quality more than Toyota, it's held up like a tank
@@CodyShell Of course! You pay half the price (or less) for a vehicle that's way more than half of a Toyota, if not equal or better
Bravo good show my friend
This is awesome to know! Totally cutting out a Cody Cubby!
I recommend it! Its been so nice to have all my cargo room back again
Just got a decent trooper she is mighty fine… while definitely look into this project…
Welcome to the club! The more Troopers and Isuzus we can keep on the road the better!
Hey Cody, wow this is awesome. Thanks for sharing!
4:22 and 4:47 gave me deja vu! LOL
That's what I get for not watching it before posting! Lol.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Might be a good place to add a water reservoir or a battery bank for a solar array. Either way I'd cover the interior with a spray the interior of that cavity with a liner to make it more durable.
good ideas! Maybe throw a few MREs in there just to be safe ha
I'm just thinking if you can get a water tank in there with a pump to a solar water heater then it's hot showers.
Hey Cody Love the video!!! Never knew it was this large, I’ll definitely be adding in some accessories down in there like @Jr Cook maybe a small fresh water tank even. I will say this maybe keep the recovery gear out or easier to access, might save you in a pinch. Keep on keeping on 😎😎
That's a good point, a lot of that stuff is hard to reach now. At least for the daily driving it's out of the way. Ha
Cool. I've done this with last couple troopers I've had makes more sense then the Tupperware bin they give you. Cody have you ever thought of doing a Trooper Meet and wheeling and camping for a week with the rest of the enthusiasts? I'd be down if so 💯
i'd love to! make some good videos with multiple troopers would be sick
Has this event happened yet? I'll join in on this caravan if it's on the east coast 👍
@@Searcher159 nope! sadly i live in new mexico a little more western than eastern :(
Any trooper meets in Florida
Now who would have thought...😳. How did you come on this one brother? It's a GREAT idea thanks! Is'nt it a shame that not much more Isuzu guys are to be found on Yt though🧐? Damn....
Just done it, thanks!!
wow that nice , now i found it,, thank you
Супер!!.Я имею Opel Monterey. Не знал о таком ящике
This would be a great area to put a AGM battery for a 12 volt system but it doesn’t look deep enough
Felt line it!
that'd be a good idea. i have a bigger project in the future where I want to get some better sound deadening on the sides and under the carpet... i'll probably do it then :D
Cool, I did that to mine, and took out the seats and carpet
man i thought that was where the jack was at when i owned mine... l0l
Appreciate the Trooper videos. I have a 1993 Trooper S. Can't seem to let it go. Problem I have in Las Vegas is finding a shop that either is capable or even wants to really work on it. I have no mechanical skills. If I could find the right shop I would just tell them to make it roadworthy and call me when done.
I'm sure there has to be a mechanic that specializes in JDM vehicles out there who would help you out! gotta keep these troopers on the road!
Are you going to Moab in April? I want to try to make it. Even if I have to drive my car there and ride along with Scott 😂
Is he going to be there? ha sounds like a blast i'd love to go
@@CodyShell You should totally go to Moab in April.
I think it is great for gear you won't need so often so you don't have to unpack the rear seats every time you want something. I'm going to have a look at my Truck to see how i can use the space. I'm wondering if the space would be useful for 12v charging systems?
There's plenty of room down there for something like that! were you thinking a 2nd battery back there? that might be a little tight, but you never know until you measure!
@@CodyShell I have a drawer system in the back of my truck. The Batteries would go in the Drawers and the 12v system would go under the seat out of the way.
@@miklawson211 that sounds perfect then! There's even a good amount of space in the front of the cubby, it's just kind of hard to reach because you have to go around from the sides
Thanks a lot
Dude sick mod! I have got to do this now!
I was SO surprised! It has to be more than double the space of that plastic bucket. Such a no-brainer!
@@CodyShell I know! I only have a couples small things in there currently. I know what I'm doing Tuesday! 🔪 🗡 😂😂
What size tires are you running? What do you use for a rear recovery point? Love the off road videos.
Thanks for checking out my videos! In this video I'm running 285 75/r16s, 33s. There are hooks under the front and rear. Probably where they tied it down to the boat when they shipped to the US from Japan 😁
But I use a D-ring shackle adapter for my trailer hitch receiver in the rear, and I have two D rings on my front bumper
Love the channel. I have a an 02 white trooper. Thinking of painting my fender flares black. I see that you have your painted. What did kind of paint did you use?
I originally used plasti-dip! And that lasted for a few years. But off roading and stuff, it got pretty scratched up. I just used matte black rattle cans from the parts store. I didn't use glossy paint
What did you strap the Bazooka tube to?
The bazooka came with two little plastic hoops that the straps run through. I screwed the hoops into the interior plastic with the self-tapping screws they came with. After 5+ years they're still hanging on great!
Do you still have your trooper. I have a 99 with a 5 speed
Yessir! I still do. She's still chuggin along like a champ. haing on to that 5 speed theyre highly sought after
Think wbout all of the drugs youmcan stash in there!
