"Ciel de lit" originally sung by Brigitte Bardot in 1964: ruclips.net/video/ofkxTOk5CxY/видео.html
Anyway we can get a copy of the remix in this vid?
Aidan Clarke u
I have this on an old Eartha Kitt album. Not the faster speed .😁
Great video Jay!
Another cool thing about the paint is that the tiers are in different shades of brown so the uppers cut through thr smog and are evenly viewable from the ground
Merci, Jay - I really needed your video today. I've bee missing Paris for many weeks and I enjoyed the escape with you today! So sorry you froze so we could all enjoy the "free" touring of the most beautiful city in the world (my declaration.) Stay warm and keep making the great videos!
Glad to freeze for your enjoyment! 😃
Loved your proper pronunciation of Toronto! Planning on visiting Paris in September and my wife and I are loving your videos!! Once plans are firmed, we plan on getting your guide. Keep up w/ the great videos and thanks again for the tips!!
This is the best and most entertaining video I've seen about ascending the Eiffel Tower. I loved it. I started my first full day in Paris with the tower. I was a bit squeamish on the ride from the second floor to the summit because I could see the increasing elevation through the lift's glass windows. The view enthralled me, though.
Glad you had a great time! =D
Bonjour Monsieur Swanson. I watched this video on Friday, which was also my birthday and it made me wanted to come home to Paris where I am from originally. I haven't been on top of La Tour Eiffel for over 35 years and this bring back some good memories. I enjoyed watching your videos about your life in Paris and your other videos . At the present time, I am in Boise, Idaho and I noticed from one of your video that you are from Pullman, Washington north of here. Small world isn't it? You're like a Paris native since you know your way around the city so well. I haven't been back to Paris in years and it looks like it hasn't changed much except for the hordes of tourists. 27 million tourist a year!! Incroyable!!!
Oui ! J'ai des amis à Boise aussi. C'est bien que tu m'a trouvé et que mes vidéos te plaît. Je crois que c'est vraiment le bon moment pour Paris - elle devient encore une ville tellement internationale et ouverte. Say hi to Idaho for me!
Oui, Idaho knows Paris and quite a few have visited the city. Some day I might return and take a bike tour to Versaille. That looks like a fun tour!
I went up 2 years ago. Perfectly clear day. The view was spectacular and certainly best from the very top.
My wife and I have been visiting Paris for a week and your videos have been a huge help for us!
I'm happy to hear that! 😃
Have a fear of high, open spaces and this gave me so much anxiety watching it. Thanks for making it clear to me that I don’t ever want to do this.
Better to know in advance =D
I was in Paris on oct 4th . 2019 for my b day and one of my stops were the Eiffel Tower . I took the elevator and the views were amazing! Thankfully it was a clear day 🤩
Jay, thanks for this vlog! It couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ll be in Paris in another 14 days’ time with my 2 girls. Your vlog certainly helped me decide that going up to the 2nd floor of the grand lady will be good enough for us. Paris feels so cold now. I hope that it will warm up a little bit more by the time we are in Paris. Thanks once again and take care!
I think the second floor is definitely enough - going to the top once is well worth it in your lifetime, but you might freeze haha
Love your videos! Looking forward to Paris in June!
Thanks! Hope you have a great trip!
Good video. Very informative. I hope that you will continue with these kinds of videos so I can live vicariously.
They'll keep coming for sure =D
Jay! I'm hooked on all your videos! You make it fun, entertaining, INFORMATIVE, focused on the topic, with tons of GREAT LITTEL EXTRAS, and it just simply entertaining to hear your commentary with your witty, snarky, hilarious comments! WELLL DONE MY FRIEND! Je te remercie! Calins, Ruben. PS: I'm visiting Paris for my birthday the week of Oct 29-Nov5. Would love to meet if you're around. Adieu.
Jay artfully throws shade at the pickpocket! 😂😂😂😂
;D
They make me irrationally angry most of the time, haha.
Well, to be fair I guess there is a rational explanation.
You ever thought about doing travel shows.... you could be the next Rick Steves or Samantha Brown etc. You are incredibly knowledgeable on European travel Sir
I don't think I smile enough to be Rick Steves, haha
Maybe not, but your vision of Paris is energetic & since you’re a resident we’re seeing a side of Paris that’s modern & not really Rick’s speed. Seeing your Paris, in all her historic glory & real-time graffiti art covered streets is a daily treat! Oh, & your time lapses are to die for! You give Woody Allen a run for his money, seriously. :)
@@JaySwanson I think you would be great . You are very informative and also have great little known facts . I loved this . Thank you . Just wish we could have seen more of the city like more landmarks you could see from there but again ...great job. I never saw inside before so i know what to expect when I go . Thank you so much
Omg I haven’t checked in, in a while...... WOW the Chanel grew quick
Bravo 🎈🍾👏🏻
Haha, thank you. It's bounced a few times for sure - slow week though ;D
Jay Swanson, again thank you for making this video as well!! I appreciate the humor & honesty employed throughout...and this video further excites me in my dream of seeing La Tour Eiffel someday!! Love it!! 👏👏💓💖
=D
Thanks Jay, good to know that you can get a ticket to the summit, last time we only stay in the second level by using the stairs, this time, we will go up to the top.
It's definitely worth doing once 😁👍
I’ve always wanted to go and this video helps me a lot. Thank you
Good! I'm glad =)
Loved this and placed your links on my IG posts!
Thanks!
this intro made me smile :) and thanks for the nice view of the Eiffel Tower. I hope I have a chance to visit it some day.
Kyle N Friday intros are my favourite
If I remember correctly I took the elevator and stopped at the different floors!
It was a super clear day when I went up. I was lucky to be able to see everything from the very top! Thank you for bringing back memories!
My pleasure!
Hi Jay, much needed for my upcoming trip, thanks a ton.
No worries!
Not a single min the video got bored... U r a cool person. Ty for sharing with us
Glad you enjoyed it =D
Hello jay , fantastic vlogs ! Also what is the name of the first some you used in this video 😊?
Great video. It's a lonnnnng time since I've been up the Eiffel Tower. The fist time was when I was 17 on a French Exchange visit and we walked up because it was free!!!!! I used to love the view from the La Samaritaine department store near Pont Neuf - it was stunning and free. So sad when the store closed in 2005😢
They're working on re-opening it though! Have been for far too long, so here's hoping they finish it up soon
Jay Swanson - that's great news❤️
Your "tourisme" videos are both entertaining and informative. Well done!
Thanks David!
I agree!
I recall an awesome view on top of the Pompidou Centre on a sunny 4pm. The little balconies you can walk around, all free
It's one of my favorite views for sure! Here are few more for you: ruclips.net/video/Bk-WgJySfkw/видео.html
Bonsoir mon homme et frere Jay. Ca va? Je suis tres bien et fatigue. Merci pour a phenomenal view et history of the Effifal tower. How much was your ticket to get into the tower? What was the first song you played in this informative video? Go well mon frere!
Thanks for sharing; good info. I'm coming to Paris (1st time) next month, YAY!
I hope you have a blast while you're here!
Great video thank you for sharing
Okay rewatching your videos again preparing for our postponed Paris trip next year.
DUDE! Today’s post is Amazing! Wow, your energy is infectious, thanks for getting my day off to an energized start. Love, love, love this - well done! :) (it’s Vicki, btw, not sure why the icon is showing my WWIE blog icon, but if you ever see that food pic - it’s still me!)
Haha - now you're trying to trick me ;D
I will be there on my birthday trip with my mom I can't wait to see it.
Erin Averyt you’ll love it i was there in oct , 19 for my b day and had a ball ! The view was amazing
It’s beautiful ty for sharing. I’ve always wanted to go to Paris. Love French wine .
You should!
Omg, I actually got the chills the higher and higher you went up the tower!
Me too - the elevator ride up gave me more of a tingle than expected haha
Hey Jay! enjoyed the tower.. You should definitely make a video on what people should look out for, when it comes to pick pockets & scammers! Around tourist attractions, metros, bus stops etc...I've heard so many stories about people getting their stuff stolen in Paris.
It's been high on my list for a long time. I think it should be in my editorial calendar now
WISDOM. DO NOT CARRY LARGE HANDBAGS. A MAN SHOULD KEEP HIS WALLET IN HIS FRONT POCKETS AND/OR CARRY A SMALL MAN TRAVEL BAG
WTF DID YOU SEE FROM TOWER !?
all the time this idiot show his face that was me me me me me me me me
not the tower !
What, very shocking indeed! It's the story nobody want to talk about, but needs to hear!
Loving your vlogs ❤💖💖
Thanks Alex! =D
5yrs ago when you made this , and I am just finding it 🙄 . Thank you. Going to Paris next month for 2 weeks, thank you for giving me a real persons aspect and view (and I really mean it as a compliment ). Good job.
Thanks Samantha, and I hope you enjoy it!
How was your trip? Did you like the food?
When did they start having a security check? I was there maybe 5 or 6 years ago and I don't remember one. 🤔
hey Jay, i don't know if you're gonna read this comment or not, I'm planning to visit France this coming winter and I love all your vids man, you craked me up, and seems like you're enjoying every second of it, i love when you find your friends and just poke them with your index.. HYSTERICAL REACTIONS!!!! BTW, what's the name of the song you're playing here... LOVE IT!!! Let me know if you're still in Paris for winter, id love to have coffe w you!!!
We scheduled most of the attractions on our trip in july except The Eiffel Tower. Thanks for the heads up.
No problemo =D
i think you have covered it before but you should do a "dangers" of Paris type video too, ie like how you assumed that was a pick pocket so quick
I'm just that intuitive, Jeff. That's why I knew you were trouble the minute I met you. Which leads me to another video, my character flaw of being drawn to dangerous people.
Arrhhh longtime myself (Yes, I'm a Parisien) I've been up there. They've recently splurged on highly-luminescent LED lighting right up to the top of the tower (one of the budgets we had to vote for here in an online-town hall) to be able to dress her up in any colour combination possible. The paint is actually of 3 different shades from top to bottom. Lighter at the top and darker more prevalent towards the base, giving it a more spearhead-esque look from anywhere in Paris...
Interessant - I didn't know that the shade of paint changed. Do you know what they're doing with the fountains in Trocadero? It looked like they were setting up for repairs of some sort but then they strapped lights to the scaffolding.
Thanks for sharing, but can you tell me where/ How do I take a train from Gare du Nord to the Eiffel Tower and from there to the River Cruise? I will be taking the Eurostar from London to Paris and making a same day trip. Thanks
Thanks for the trip to the top of the tower,I loved it!
I did too - we all win =D
Hi JAY, I'm here in Paris with my wife right now. We are heading to the Eiffel Tower tomorrow and are debating the walk as we already did the Arc de Triomphe and I was huffing and puffing like the old man that I am haha. Might take a shot at it anyway. Thanks for the great video!
Definitely worth a shot, but the elevator ride up is fun in its own way too =D Hope you had a blast!
Wuuut? I never knew about the Statue of Liberty! I mean, I know "we" got it from France, but I didn't know they had one too LOL.
They've got like five 😆😆
Jay! You served some serious shade at the ALLEGED pickpocketer ;) ... do you have tips for how to avoid / handle/ deal with or key things to watch out for when in Paris to avoid getting scammed? I'm visiting Paris solo in a few months time and would appreciate any tips or tricks. Keep up the good work!
i love this french music. i miss these songs!
Love the music in this one .....expensive gift shop and food....nice viewss
Macaroons even =D
Big thumps up to all your videos am watching each one very educational and great for the tips thank you so much can’t wait to see them my self thank you for these also feels like am next to you while you film very close contact nice very nice 👍🏻
Happy to share =)
Great video! If you had to pick just one favourite view of the city, which spot would it be? I'm not too keen on heights, but I definitely want to go somewhere at night with great views when I next visit 😁
Arc de Triomphe or Pompidou are probably my top picks. Triomphe gives you a broader, bigger view of the city, but Pompidou puts you right among the rooftops - feels like you're flying.
Thank you for the informative video as I research our upcoming Paris trip. However can do without the vocals of the background music.
Love the view from Pompidou! Not too many people go up there. It is memorizing!
It's an amazing view for sure - took me way too long to get up there
Hi Jay! I love your videos. They are really helping me prepare for my upcoming trip to Paris this week :) I am planning on going up the Eiffel Tower just before sunset and forgot to purchase the tickets in advance. I am OK with taking the stairs up to the 2nd level but was wondering if there is a separate line to purchase stairs tickets? We are worried we will spend a lot of time waiting in line as we haven't got our tickets yet. Thanks!
Thanks! I think it's divided between them normally because the elevator access is on different corners. Have fun!
Luck you Kudos to your drive & motivation!
Can you provide the name of the songs you used
I love them
Also thanks for making these episodes
Very helpful
Jay, Need your help, may i know the station to on board to view the Eiffel Tower from the train side Window? Most of the time you took with your vlog.
Yep! That's line 6 - you can see it from our Instagrammable photo spots video here: ruclips.net/video/ZUdNr2TwA7w/видео.html
And you can grab my guide for lots more tips on the city here: bit.ly/ParisVloggersGuide
I’m coming to Paris in Aug for the first time I was wondering if you do tours around the city ?
I don't, but I know people who do if you need. And you can check out bit.ly/BikeAboutToursJay for the bike tours
hahaha you're pretty savvy...classic ending!!! Definetly one for the year end highlight vlog if you ever wanted to do one.
Haha
Awesome video! 👍🏻 Do you know if there is any pass that lets you skip the security line?
If you get a guided tour you can go through the group entrance - otherwise I don't think so
Great video.....will be useful next time I am in Paris. Glad you enjoyed it more this time. LOL
I did - it's been a while since I've been up but I definitely enjoyed it more this time. It helped that it wasn't super crowded.
Hi! I know this video was from a few years ago but can you still purchase Eiffel Tower tix the day of if you wanted to take the 669 steps? Or should we purchase those tix prior to our trip?
I think so! Grab your tickets online before heading there and you'll save yourself a bunch of time.
Sorry if someone already asked...but was looking for question and couldn't find...So first time im going...do you recommend me walking up or just paying full 25€ to go up to summit with elevator?
It depends on if you're fit enough to walk the stairs or would simply rather not. I liked taking the stairs, but it's up to you! 😃
Hi! Just wanted to know how much time did you spend since you arrived till you left. Thanks !
I'm not sure but I think about 2.5hrs
nice one sqweeza....
Hey Jay, I’ll be arriving in Paris soon and opted not to pre purchase Eiffel Tower tickets. Do they ever sell out for the day? Was planning on arriving early to the tower and getting tickets.
I doubt they ever sell out, you may just have to wait in line for a long time.
Hello Jay, Planning a trip to Paris soon and we wanted to book our ticket to Eiffel tower. The option of stairs to the 2ndfloor and then lift to summit is unavailable to book online and requires to be booked onsite... is there a way around it, to make sure we beat the queues?? In the video u mention that u can purchase the lift to the top tickets on 2nd floor... is that true? Most travel forums haven't been able to give me a definitive answer to that.
I would buy everything on site if you can't get it online - and probably get there early to avoid the queues. Unfortunately in peak season there's always a line, but on off days or off season you can avoid it much more handily =D
Great to see the smaller version of Stature of Liberty. Could you do a brief tour of the Effifal Tower' s restaurant ?
I can't wait to visit Paris and the Eiffell tower, oh boy that is a lot of steps xD but just to manage to see that view is Worth it :D
👍👍
And I finally made it up there through you, haha! Great tour and views even with the smog. With my completely irrational fear of open air heights with stairs I couldn't even make it to the top of a wet n wild slide never mind the first tier of the Eiffel tower when I was there. But the lift looks good - so, next time! :D
There's plenty of wall to put your back to ;D I hope you can get up there and enjoy it next time!
Good to know! I'll be pinning myself to it, but it'll be worth it :D
Nice tour for anyone who may be planning to go there Good tips too. Have you ever gone on the bateau mouche rides?
Thanks =D And yeah - the boat tours are all pretty much the same (there's only one river) and generally worth it IMO. As for dinner tours, you get what you pay for
Jay Swanson The Bustronome looks like a gourmet food & sightseeing lovers dream. Have you heard of them? Watched a news video clip of their services, very cool.
when i visited the tower was painted a sort of hot pink colour . i was told the locals did not the colour
Hi. I really like your videos. They are quite informative and straight to the point (except for one of cafés I think, lol). This is the first channel that I truly enjoy watching and it feels quite well structured and organized. Kudos. I found funny the little hater-ish comments towards the Eiffel T., but that´s ok. Also, I am writing a review and taking my time here so yeah, I really like your shit, man. Keep it up!
What’s the name of the song in the background? So catchy! I love it!
"Ciel de lit " Original recording was by Brigitte Bardot in 1964!
1:28 In 2013, my friend bought a knife at Les Invalides and remembered he had it in his bag as the security guard was checking inside... but that was before 2015 so the guard just took a peek inside without actually looking.
Things have changed quite a bit =/
What tips you off for a pick-pocket? We will be there in June.
Usually people working really hard to distract you and take up your time in a way that seems off. I wrote at length about the various scams you might run into in Paris in my guide along with over 200 recommendations on where to eat etc. in the city if you want to grab a copy: bit.ly/ParisVloggersGuide Have a great trip!
how long did it take you to walk the steps? we are trying to figure out if we want to do the steps or the elevator but trying to also figure out how much longer it will take to walk the steps. Also if we buy tickets in advance does it save much time?
It's not bad, I'm not sure but I'd guess only five minutes or so. Buying tickets in advance is always a good way to go if possible
Hey buddy... We have been here a week... Going up tomorrow. Staying at a hotel very close to the Eiffel Tower. Greetings from Cape Town South Africa
Hope you enjoy it!
Enjoyed very much!!!👌👌👌👌👌👌
Thanks a lot =)
Jay - if you are afraid of heights, like I am, would you suggest taking the elevators vs the stairs to the 2nd level? I'm OK if everything is enclosed - like walls around me, but if open, then no way. :)
Hi! Such a good question. Did you get to try the stairs?
Does anyone know the name of the song in this video?
Nice videos .. I have seen quite a few of yours..I have one question .. From where can I know b4 hand if camera tripods are allowed at a particular site in Paris?
Hard to know because information is often lacking on the internet here - however I would go to the specific site's website and see if they have rules listed there.
Jay Swanson OK thanks.. I didn't check in much details but didn't get much information online.. just big bags n all not allowed
I am going to the second floor, well good job cause me and heights are not the best ahha but I wanted to try it but due to the peak of season I am guessing they are sold out for the summit which is upsetting but hey 9:30pm slot I booked haha hopefully it will be a good time to see everything, cannot wait to go up
Hopefully you can make it all the way up if you want to! Peak season definitely makes it harder, but it's worth doing imo =)
Jay Swanson can I buy for summit when I am there?
What is the price for the elevator ticket to the 3rd floor?
Does anybody knows the name of the song at minute 4:00?
ok how about a recommendation for the best cassoulet in Paris :)
You'll have to let me know when you find one =)
You are amazing!!!!!
Thanks =D
Loooooooved it👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼thanks soooo much!!!!
Thanks!
Cute sound track!
Thanks!
I want to get the background content of your video.
Thanks Jay.
My pleasure! =)
Ahh. I say the first set of security is like airport level, my friend had to pout out his water. Also the last time my friend nearly tore off my arm because he is afraid of heights and it was a windy day
Haha, no arm-tearing if you hike it alone ;D And yeah, they do a full metal wanding as you go through. No x-ray machines when I went through, they were all off, but they still get nice and invasively intimate.
This was really useful, thanks for doing it (love that music too!) I don’t usually have a problem with heights, but for some reason, the lift to the top floor made my palms all sweaty 😳. I’m off to Paris in April and plan on walking the first two flights, then getting the lift to the top, how long did it take you to walk up to the second floor? Also, I can’t book a walk up ticket online, will I have to wait ages to buy it on the day? I’ve heard the walk up line is usually much shorter than the lift line. Loved how you dealt with the pickpocket at the end 😆.
It didn't take me long to get to the 2nd floor - I wandered around the 1st for a bit but in total, going all the way to the top and back down took about an hour I think. Not bad. And yeah, the stairs line is usually shorter in my experience. Get there early, and hopefully not during peak tourist season ;D
Jay Swanson Thanks Jay.
I book my tickets online the day they go on sale. I try for the first elevator up. You practically have the 2nd floor to yourself for a while. I then walk down.
Sarah Bannon I am going to PARIS, FRANCE IN THE SPRING AS WELL I WILL BE IN PARIS, FRANCE THE FIRST WEEK IN APRIL
Thanks for the video I am planning on flying to Pairs to go visit my great uncle that is buried in saint michils cemetery
you're my hero
-Love, Mr. Delicatesse
Thanks =)
Cool video man. Credits of the music please. greetings from Mexico
Thanks! Credits in the description 👍
i was there last weekend lol did not go up because we weren't prepared for security lines, so it was kind of off putting. but next time, for sure :)
It's SUPER off-putting. I totally agree. All security lines do is create an insecure hazard.
