  • It might have taken a year... BUT IT'S HERE! A reveal of the our fully renovated Victorian kitchen. After removing the side door, installing a beam, adding in double doors, raising the floor, changing the gas and electrics, moving the boiler and washing machine upstairs (I'm sure I'm forgetting plenty....) we FINALLY got the kitchen finished, and we couldn't be happier with it! Hope you enjoy - and THANK YOU for your patience!

    You could unattach the freezer door from the front panel. That way it stays closed when you get to the fridge, and you can open it separately. Your videos were so helpful for our own house reno and we loved our DIY kitchen too!

      @@FeedbyAutumn Or take the door down, and cut it in half where it needs to be, then paint. You might need to attach a small trim piece between the fridge and freezer that is the same paint color as the doors so it looks on purpose, and then of course a new handle, but the above comment is a quickest fix especially since the one door does look really nice.

    Tom is probably right about the rinsing: modern dishwashers do a quick first spritz and sample it. If the dishes appear quite clean they reduce the water level, temperature, and/or time on the wash to save energy. If you remove the easiest, non-dried stuff, they may not wash as well (I mean, obviously give a scrape, the machines are designed to expect that!). Just be prepared to clean your filter a bit more often. The manual should tell you what to do with your machine, but my Bosch specifies no pre-rinsing.

    Well done guys you've transformed that space!! Thank you for the costing breakdown. I agree that quartz is totally worth the splurge. We did a similar total kitchen remodel and then moved house - we believe the kitchen got us a top price for the home. Kitchens and bathrooms sell houses 🎉

    Looks great, fabulous etc. Glad you have a ton of drawers; I wish I had more, but mine was a second-hand kitchen and we couldn't find any matching ones then. I have that cutlery tray! I have similar handles but brass coloured. Don't know about you, but I do catch my clothes on the drawer ones a fair few times.

    as for the rinsing before going into the dishwasher discussion, eh, depends, technically if the machine is in really good working order and does what it's supposed to do, you shouldn't need to rinse, but......... but....... I hate cleaning out the filter at the bottom, so I always rinse off most things before sticking it in because I've seen it where it either doesn't rinse away and get on other items or the filter gets all gunked up, and it's gross

    Simply stunning, it’s so great to see the final result! Serious envy 😊 suggestion for your sink, we have a matching worktop saver that we slide over the spare sink when not in use or entertaining, just to give extra counter space. Wonder if you could get a matching worktop chopping board / cover that you can slide back and forth? Just a thought! Perfect though 👏🏻👍🏻😃

    Kitchen looks really fab! Like you, I also regret having the double sink situation. I would much rather have a larger single.
    Ah…the dishwasher debate. I have found that rinsing the dishes before loading isn’t so much about cleaning them before cleaning them. Getting the stuff off first helps the filter from blocking and seizing up, which happens often regardless of model.

    I think it turned out incredible given the space you have! The dishwasher/sink/window is definitely a conundrum... smart of you to move the dw out of the walkway. It would also bother me off-setting the window making the floating shelves not symmetrical mainly bc the right side would be tiny to the point of unusable. A solution would've been putting in a more narrow window centering it over the sink... still making the shelves not symmetrical, but having one side wider and the other still being a good, usable size would work for me, personally. Not sure if this would even remotely be a consideration, but its a thought. So glad you posted this video sooner than later!! Keep 'em coming!!

    • @FeedbyAutumn
      @FeedbyAutumn  9 месяцев назад

      Very true - never thought about decreasing the window (and to be honest if I asked Tom and Martin for even more building work I think they'd kill me ;) But I've learnt to just ignore it now hahaha

    And I think you did an amazing job especially not having the washing machine in there sticking to drawers and having a pantry I do steer people away from sinks that are not curved it’s brutal to clean but you just find a good degreaser or stainless steel cleaner and a electric scrubber tool and that’s how you do it love the draining board and yeah in hindsight a induction would’ve been better but 😂 it’s an easy fix and you would’ve had to buy all new pots and pans because it requires specific ones so that’s swings and roundabouts and I will always love the colour the door 🤤🤤🤤🤤 and the herringbone flooring chefs kiss stunning

    First just unhook the freezer door if it becomes an issue and open it separately that was definitely an easy oversight and a lot and I mean a lot of people who have designed kitchens have cocked that up 😂 as for the dishwasher position actually you were right I knocked families who wouldn’t buy the house if it were in the other spot I would However say maybe just install a smaller window in the future or figure out a genius way to add decorative trim that hides the unevenness bit fiddly but people have done it with non symmetrical fire places and wardrobes as for the using the dishwasher I’m a product tester and toms almost right you do need to scrape the food off the dishes but you mustn’t rinse them or you will dumb down your smart machine ie dishwasher it’s actually what makes them stop cleaning because the sensors work by detecting dirt if your washing plates before loading then the machine is detecting clean plates and won’t wash properly and you will break the sensors and imagine if your not rinsing half your stuff but rinsing plate’s suddenly nothings clean so scrape food off but don’t pre rinse or food collects in the bottom and stinks I will give you one huge tip you have to and I mean have to if you want longevity out of your washing machine and dishwasher run the cleaning cycles every month with care plus protect it’s a sachet you pop into both machines it’s the same product you order it online make sure there empty and run that cycle once a month it’s a mould limescale prevention and degreaser and you can’t just use one setting on either machines having a favourite setting will break the mother boards in both and you will start getting error codes and suddenly you are having call outs to fix your machines and then replacing your appliances at which point especially if limescale has already set in they won’t even bother to tell you to use this fantastic product because it’s at that point to late and also I know this is long but clean your filters monthly wash machine dishwasher dryer and cooker hood or your kitchen will develop a smell and your washing machine will flood your house and yes it’s smart to put your washing machine upstairs I’m moving mine upstairs aswell it just makes sense

      Bestatflooring - Krontex herringnone flooring! We absolutely love it but it was a NIGHTMARE to lay after the kitchen was installed (especially cutting around all the corners) - in future I would 100% lay it first so the kitchen can just sit on top. Much easier in the dining room / lounge with simple cuts due to the straight walls

    Why don't you take the fridge door off and put it where the bin cupboard door is and order 2 doors for the fridge freezer compartment? It would make it look more cohesive and save you money in the long run with keeping the freezer closed.
