Corrections: - War Wolf Assault Beast has really good armor at -3 to injury rolls! We missed that. - Artillery Witch does not suffer -Dice for range (or cover)
Loved the battle report! You got most of it already, but I have a few rules notes. - The Artillery Witch's Infernal Bomb automatically ends the unit activation when it is used, so you can't move and dash afterwards. Also, a direct hit with it (targeting a 1mm by 1mm space below a unit) will result in an injury roll with 3d6 keep 3. - Only one unit can be promoted to elite during the post-game resolution, no matter how many 6s are rolled. - A downed unit suffers +1D to melee injury rolls in addition to any other modifiers.
Great battle report! Glad to finally see a battle report that is not just a boring 2 hour long, single shot from above the game desk with crappy audio. I loved the close up shots, the greenscreened dice tray and the editing that made it feel so snappy, kinda like the game itself. Great work, please continue this series, this game deserves proper high quality content like this.
A really good batrep and I’d love to see more, but that War Wolf was robbed 😂 I agree with other commenters on using more terrain that fully blocks line of sight. There’s not enough good Trench Crusade gameplay videos yet, please make more!
finally a good Trench Crusade BatRep. Didactic and easy to understand. great content and keep refining the process for the next ones. keep up the good work.
I just discovered Trench Crusade last night and am hooked on the lore. I’ve never played a table top game or even printed/painted a figure. I’m a total noob, but this was awesome and I subscribed, even though I definitely didn’t understand all the rules. Man, I expected more out of that Artillery Witch!
Great video. I really enjoyed the format and atmosphere. This is the kind of thing that I can show someone not in the hobby and they can see what I think is fun about it. I hope this format takes off because it also makes great background noise for painting. Somewhere between a radio play and (insert sport of choice except golf) on the radio.
Awesome to see you making some trench crusade videos. One minor rules nitpick that no one has picked up up on from what I’ve seen. You forgot to roll for risky with the sacrificial knife
@@MiniatureGameMontage Not exactly. Artillery Witch is almost always a straight 2 dice roll, it doesn't get any modifiers from range, cover, or height advantage. The third shot, I think, also got a 5 which would have hit with the edge of the 3" radius. The next attack is also a direct hit, which is a 3d6 wound, add all three together.
Something you missed: the sniper priest wouldn't have SEEN what the artillery witch was capable of, he would've been told by God haha ;) Great battle report! I'm looking forward to more!
Good battle report video -- thanks! My one small suggestion for improvement is that it wasn't always obvious to me when the Antioch fireteams were activating as fireteams, so perhaps you could make that a little clearer in the voiceover. Looking forward to more!
Damn i didnt expect the rules to be this intuitive!! Im so damn keen for my printing to start for my Sultunate & Court of the Seven Headed Serpent im printing for my mate!
Awesome this is exactly what I've been looking for in a Battle report video. Also that poor Warwolf and Artillery Witch getting done in by there TLDR rules. Ah well the Map set up was super open and thus Heretic Legion favoured so it balances out I guess.
Something definitely to consider for trench crusade is having more line of sight blocking terrain. The game is very lethal and allowing sight lines that can see clear across the board will make ranged factions feel crazy powerful. Love the content and the style of your report though. Cant wait for more!
20:50 The heretic priest used his own blood marker for the lieutenant in order to get +Dice but i thought blood markers can only be used by opponents to get -Dice on actions against them and +Dice in injuries against him. Idk if i missed something with the blood marker mechanic?
@@felixlopez407 that’s correct. Blood markers do not improve your chances to hit. They are for your opponents to use to make it harder for you to hit them. I think I misnarrated it.
@MiniatureGameMontage OK cool thank u for the clarification I was like dang I thought I understood it lol. Crazy awesome bat report I'm so excited to see more!

that was a very Asymmetrical battle which i tend to enjoy, i'm in the process of making my own terrain and my sons have been working on painting the models which is fine by me i hate painting
@@HunterGargoyle indeed! Really a game that’s more focused on narrative in my opinion than absolute balance. I think it’s similar to Necromunda and Mordheim in that respect.
Should definitely name em, I mean it is a rule and also it would be fun to like be all emotional about Harold the mechanite infantry or Todd the war wolf.
The one thing I see a few times here that I was wondering about when reading the rules is if there's anything that says you can't just Dash last in an activation. Since it's Risky I figure, so long as you have the range, you might as well Move, Make a Ranged Attack, and then try to Dash to cover.
@@daaaah_whoosh I don’t think there’s a rule that says you can’t. Always worth a try. Towards the end with the Artillery Witch we were thinking, “hey we need to move her forward. She can still shoot.”
Great battle reports! I don't fully understand the rules yet but I was able to follow along surprising well! Great explanation as you go. But I'm having a hard time with the blood dice. If a model gets injured, they might get a blood dice, but do they use their own to effect dice amount or do they use the dice the model they are attacking?
Thanks! With blood dice, your opponent uses them. They can make it harder to hit them or they can be used to affect injury rolls for example. Think of it as a nagging wound. You declare a shot and your opponent says ok i'll use the blood marker to give you a -Dice. It definitely keeps table engagement even when not your turn.
hitting downed targets will always give you a +1D bonus to the injury roll, when the death commando crit the priest it should've been 5 dice keep 2 highest rather than 4.
Sacrificial blade is +1d to injury. When he used a blood marker to add another should have been 4 dice to injure.....you really don't wanna see my knights of avarice coming for you lol
Excellent bat rep sir! Just wondering where you found the rules for the artillery and mortar? I see them referenced in the scenario but can't find the actual rules for using them 🤔
Something of note, you can only promote 1 model per promotion step. As soon as a 6 is rolled, you promote that model and stop rolling. Here’s the source under promotions in the campaign book: In any order you wish, select a Promotion Die and roll it. If it shows a result of 6, that model is promoted. The model gains the Keyword ELITE, it is moved to the ELITE section of your warband’s roster and it begins with 0 Experience Points. Only one model can be promoted in this way per post-battle sequence. Once a model is promoted in this way, end this process.
Finally!!! Combat reports that feature official miniatures rather than recycled and homemade ones. Just a joy for the eyes!! Good luck to you guys!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Boy I dislike the rules of this game! Trying to kill anything is frustrating, movement is frustrating because you never know how much you will actually move and most weapons feels very similar to each other. Great setting, but the rules were a big let down for me
@ correct, dash being a risky action. I’d rather have it as an automatic action. Maybe it could be risky only if you shoot in between movements. Or, if you dash, you cannot shoot or shoot only with specific weapons (assault ones, for instance). Just some ideas
Corrections:
- War Wolf Assault Beast has really good armor at -3 to injury rolls! We missed that.
- Artillery Witch does not suffer -Dice for range (or cover)
Direct hit of the artillery witch rolls 3d6 for injury and adds the dice together. Rolling for injury vs downed models is at +1 dice
Not entirely sure, but Lieutenant charge into Death Commando - DC was out of sight of Lt, so there should be risky roll first
Sacrificial knife us +2D to injury
