I’ve been blessed to have seen this group live with every drummer from the late Ricky Lawson R.I.P., Will Kennedy, and Marcus Bailor in just about every venue in greater Los Angeles to include the Roxy at the “Live Wires” live recorded CD. The greatest group ever in my opinion. Have had the opportunity to meet them all personally. Great moments in life. What a gift to have experienced. Will’s a GOAT!
As a predominantly gospel musician I can honestly say that I couldn't be more inspired in this moment. Thanks for sharing such great gifts and talent...
Jackson, if you like this, please check out the live version, with Take 6 on vocals - it will make you astounded! There is no other power like the human voice raised in song!!! The video is poor, but the music... my God!!! When I was 16, I worked at a Safeway with a bunch of black folks. I went one Sunday with some of them and their families to a Baptist church in South Dallas just to hear the service and the choir. What I experienced that Sunday was one of the most moving experiences I've ever had: 40 member choir, 6 band musicians and incredible emotion. I've been to the Cologne Cathedral in Germany and St. Stevens Cathedral in Vienna in 1979, and I consider that Sunday in 1966 on par with them!
I heard them at Ronnies a few years ago. they had this young bass player in there he TORE up the joint, it was insane , plus i got to speak to russ in the flesh !!!
I do that. Learned how to play on everybody else's (right-handed) axes. Feels natural to me. Big E (or B) on the bottom. Started on six-string. All my chords are done backwards. It works for an average player. 'Practicing, practice, practicing"
Jimmy Haslip has NEVER deserved a thumbs down!
Upside down right hand bass played left handed.

Original group not bad either. The late Ricky Lawson on drums with loads of great guitar from Robben Ford.

This is an original that was written by Russell Ferrante.

bass strings are upside down... I saw lefty guitarists to play like that but first time I see a bass player

Oh yeah. Don't wake Jimmy Haslip!!! lol.
Russel Ferrante is God
Bob Mintzer's playing is always devoid of any bullshit. All intention.
Pity Robben Ford wasn't on guitar but it's still a great tune by Russell.
The bass player is playing it upside down. What.
If you want to play like this give up you day job and don`t make any babies !
Very "churchy"
Yeah....the clue's in the name of the tune...🙂🙂🙂🙂
