    What do you think about the tradition in Bhutan of having not only many wives but also many husbands?

  • @Dechay_Zam
    @Dechay_Zam 11 месяцев назад +748

    I’m from Bhutan and this is NOT TRUE at all. Wife’s sister is already married to King’s younger brother. And the picture you are showing on this video is his own sister, not wife’s sister.
    Go and do proper research.

    Few things that are falsely stated in this video;
    1. Bhutan is not situated in Tibet as mentioned in this video.
    2. "The King must have several wives" which is not necesarily true.
    3. He wasnt the youngest king. His father, 4th King was the youngest indeed.
    4. Yaks are used only where pathways are not plyable by vehicle like other countries use horses. The mode of transportation is car for 100% people accessible to roads.
    5. Sending to underground prison for kissing on public? Not true.
    6. And its Jigme not Jigma and not Ungyen, its Ugyen.
    No like or subscription for such falsified information. Get your facts right first.

Of course to survive, economy in any country must be noted. Countries fail, because unselfishly in their own hands caused by badly head of country/politicians stealing from the country/people. This downturns must never happen, if not, effects will destroy every citizens.

      It helps that they are not of the 3 abusive sectes that call themselves religions ( xtian-judeo-muslim) all based on hurt and separation as "solution" and divine "love". Certainly the xtian hegemony that took over in the 1980 elections in the us brought utter disaster - school killings -- which had never happened before and certainly not many times each year, several wars for only the bushies and "friends" personal gain, racism actively promoted again, loss of life and freedom for all women, destruction of parks and food sources, destruction of the middle class that had made the us wealthy and solid, prisons full of people who had smoked a bit of weed ( likely sold by the cia from their central american plots of land used for just that and harder drugs as well), selling out to the abusive Monsanto, "frankenfoods" ( GMO) and then the pollution of the entire country with the deadly roundup that only applies to those deadly GMO's.....to start. Smarter in Bhutan, clearly.

    Bhutan is NOT located in Tibet! Tibet is part of China, but was once a country in its own right. Bhutan is a kingdom bordering in the south to India and in the north to China. Bhutan is in the Himalayan mountains. The royal couple welcomed a third child, this time a girl, in September this year.

    The best monarch In the world.
    Very intelligent and kind hearted who thinks and works for the betterment of his subjects . He is an icon of simplicity. An example to all his nation. After having his education overseas still he respects his traditions. But the wise decisions he takes should be admired. When there are many wives and when they have children, they fight for the throne ,become jealous of the throne prince and even take secret actions to kill them. So what he has done is the best for his throne and to his family.
    May his wife and children understand his vision and practice simplicity inlife being an example to all other royal families in the world.
    Good luck ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    I really, sincerely wish that their child can hold a candle to his parents' great example. After Japan & Thailand, Bhutan is a country i love immensely aside from my own. I'm afraid their son would turn out to be like my neighboring country's monarch who have failed to continue his parents' great legacy ( his late father was a great ruler & man, and his mother was a dignified commoner with teaching background. And similar to King Jigme, the late king only married and stayed loyal to one spouse despite the country's traditions of having many wives)

    The fraternal polyandry is practised more out of socio-'ecomomical rreasons.
    The present king's grandfather had a tibetan mistress a commonor street singer with her he had 3 children. That caused some tumult and friction. The reason why former king got married to 4 sisters was to retain power within the royal family of Bhutan.

    Our king is Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, not jigma
    Polygamy is not common in bhutan!!!

    There's no tradition of polygamy in Bhutan! Correction. Its only the sisters and that happened only ONCE!!

    I am Bhutanese and In my entire life I didnt heard about our kings marrying the sisters of the queen. I think this video is trying to share wrong information. As long as the king is happy he can work on his will.. you need a correct research

    As a Bhutanese, I know that 90% of the information in this video is false. The narrator doesn’t even know the name of our king. It’s not Jigma. The story of our king promising to marry our queen when he met her for the first time is also not true. PDA was never forbidden in Bhutan. And Bhutan is not in Tibet. And most of all, it’s not true that in our tradition it’s mandatory for the king to marry all sisters of the queen.

    This help me understand old Tibet better.
    History clearly reveals that the old Tibet was not the Shangri-La that many imagine", he wrote "but a society under a system of feudal serfdom."
    Until 1959, when China cracked down on Tibetan rebels and the Dalai Lama fled to northern India, around 98% of the population was enslaved in serfdom. Drepung monastery, on the outskirts of Lhasa, was one of the world's largest landowners with 185 manors, 25,000 serfs, 300 pastures, and 16,000 herdsmen. High-ranking lamas and secular landowners imposed crippling taxes, forced boys into monastic slavery and pilfered most of the country's wealth - torturing disobedient serfs by gouging out their eyes or severing their hamstrings.

    Bhutan is not located in Tibet. Tibet is Tibet, Bhutan is Bhutan. There's something so ignorant in this video, you seem to lose touch with the fact that these are real people.
