I take all that fun out of it and use a drum dial. I dont even check the sound.( tapping the head ) If I choose to tune low or high...drum dial. Always spot on. I was hesitant at first but it's what works for me.
Nice extra tip...12 inch batter is is 175 hz for instance. Tune the reso 14 inch tom the same. Batter 14 is 155 hz tune the reso 16 inch also 155 hz. Works for me 😊
Hey Ryan - do you know what fundamental pitch you are getting for the whole drum after tuning? My iDrumTunePro app says 111 hz when I hold it up to the speaker as you’re doing the final hits. 🙏🏼👌🏼
You put it’s a D6 but you have a D4 on there. Do you use D4 for toms. I use D2 for 10 & 12 rack toms, D4 for 14 & 16 Floor, D6 for Kick. Nice video bro.
Thanks for replying, I don’t normally reply to videos but thanks for being an awesome creator, I seen some of your church live feeds, great stuff. I’d like to do that one day. I’ve never played with tracks or click. 100% man.
How am I overthinking it? Would love to hear your thoughts on this video and what I can do to improve it, thanks for the comment and I hope that you’re having a wonderful day.
Man, I was legit almost having an existential crisis tuning my 12 inch Tom today 😂. Gonna try this out!
Haha I feel you, that tuning can be tricky!
I honwstly am trying with this app but the frequencies will switch from 70 hz to 300 hz and the lugs will sound the same. Any help?
Can you share a link to that hz tuner.. ? Please
Love it!! That tom was a 10 right ? Love to see a full tuning kit 🤩 10,12,14,16 and 22 ⚡️
It was a 12 inch rack Tom!
And noted! I’ll be sure to to create one soon!

Getting it done perfectly isn't overthinking. Look at Gavin Harrison's approach to tuning and understand why his drum sounds are killer.
