I've already seen a playthrough of both Remothered: Tormented Fathers (2018) and Broken Porcelain (2020), and boy, the plot is still a masterclass of convolution. Let's try to keep this simple: -1971: Celeste, aged 13, goes "missing" but really her parents staged it so Wyman and Stefano could not find her. She kinda forgot her identity which is why she calls herself "Jennifer" (which is what Richard calls her). -1973: events of Broken Porcelain: apparently the Feltons' plan didn't work because Celeste/Jennifer gets kicked out of the Flemmington Girls' Institute anyway and is transferred to the Ashmann inn, right into Stefano's clutches (LMAO). Celeste escapes Ashmann inn, finds her parents but Gloria finds her mere days afterward and somehow overpowers and hypnotizes both of her parents so she escapes again with Ariana's help. --From that point on until Rosemary Reed arrives, Gloria had been psychologically torturing them for NINETEEN years. (And yet, Ariana was not a spooky scary skellington when Rosemary finds her, so she can't have been dead for long.) -1992: events of Tormented Fathers: Lindsay kinda forgot her identity, too, so she's Rosemary Reed now. She finds Felton and has a showdown with Gloria. Celeste at this time is already a writer under the name of Madam Svenska. -2021: Celeste finds Lindsay again but the day after, Lindsay dies. -2022: Celeste gives Mr. Manni the info about the 14 missing girls killed by Ashmann, one of which was his sister (who went missing when he was two years old) Of course, when R:TF came out, everyone assumed that Rosemary's adventure in Felton manor happened in 1973 and that Madam Svenska talking to Mr. Manni was happening in present day 2018. But bugger that, R:BP said. Addendum: 1. Stefano A. and Andrea apparently kept Gloria, as "Elisa" in the inn because she kinda forgot that her own brother molested her. Sketchy to keep someone around that could turn on you the moment they remember who they are, but ok. 2. Why didn't the Feltons hear about Celeste being expelled from the Flemmington Girls' Institute and transferred to the Ashmann inn? Stefano gaining custody of her was precisely the outcome they were trying to avoid! 3. HOW did Celeste (as Madam Svenska, aged 63 in 2021) get on a plane from Sweden and visit Lindsay in Italy in a nursing home, no less, in 2021? Do COVID restrictions not exist? Also none of this would have happened if Mussolini hadn't okayed the second full-scale invasion of Ethiopia. Take my like Harry, the magic system of Wheel of Time is less complicated in comparison.

What if someone finds the research about the moths and picked up where they left off? There's definitely room for the developer to play with the story.

I hate how most reviews of this game are bad only for the bugs it had when it came out! 😤 the story is solid and breathtaking, the music and graphics are good, the characters have detailed backstorys, and the gameplay is not that bad (that being said, without the bugs/gliches)😅
This is another good story driven game that got pushed down because of bad gameplay and subpar graphics. I hate how a lot of games have really interesting stories but bad gameplay and too much "confusion"
It's actually not a bad game. The story is interesting, the graphics are great and the gameplay is not that bad. It's just challenging but that's okay. It's supposed to be a survival horror game and they've never been easy
I never heard of this game until I watched the story explained( I got bored at night and just start watching) and I’m particularly confused on how the hell did Ashmann rape Richard???? Wouldn’t Richard had been transitioned into male when him and Arianna was together??? If so how did Richard become pregnant if he was transitioned already????? Like I’m just confused on how that can happened.
He was still a biological woman, so he could technically get pregnant. Felton Senior forced him to take phenoxyl and do hypnotherapy to make him believe he was a man, and he continued doing it for the rest of his life due to Gloria/the red nun. So he basically grew up as a man and married Ariana, who knew the truth but agreed to marry him for convenience, until one day Stefano raped him. Watching Celeste grow up as a girl gave him flashbacks of his childhood and made him develop a split personality disorder, and so he became Jennifer (the stalker in the first game).
Richard only took the Hormones which caused his body to become more like a male one but biologically he was always a woman. he never got the surgery to remove the parts needed to become pregnant.
I just came from your Mothered video expecting this to be a sequel. Disappointed that isn't the case, but not disappointed by the video itself. Great job as usual!
The Remothered story is honestly depressing. Two childhood best friends bond through shared trauma and their friendship is abruptly cut short by circumstances. They both don't keep in touch, then once they're old one of them contacts the other and they briefly see each other before she dies the next day so the surviving one tells the whole story to the brother of one of the other victims who was kept at the hotel bc she wants closure and someone to talk to since her best friend who she'd just reunited with ended dying before she could properly say goodbye. Also is there an explanation for why "Jennifer" a.k.a. Celeste as a child has a British accent but that she doesn't when she's older?
That is quite simple. Your accent naturally changes throughout the years depending on where you live and who you have relationships with. I can say that by my own experience. My accent has changed a lot several times since I was a child. I don't say that necessarily the authors did it intentionally, all I say is that it is realistic for it to happen.
@@chelseas.horizon2222 that's true but it doesn't explain why Celeste has that accent unless she was at a British school before Ashmann picked her up and brought her to the hotel and perhaps her parents had sent her to the UK before she was discovered. I remember reading that the Flemmington Girls Institute that she was at was supposed to be a location in the second game but was cut later so perhaps there would've been an explanation. I have observed that a lot of people who go to study in the UK frequently pick up the accent and/or are pushed to start speaking that way so perhaps the idea was that she'd been in the UK before she was discovered
The only fault I see in the game is teeny tiny. If you’re sneaking around, take off your heels. Those are some of the loudest shoes on the planet 😂. Although it explains how Rosemary got caught
I don't know if he will be able to do that one as most people into the SCP universe barely understands what is going on most of the time. And I don't mean casual fans. I mean people who are very deeply invested into this series. There is even a debate still going on over if the game Containment Breach is even part of the SCP universe.
man, i'm really wishing for the third Remothered (if it ever releases) to be very good overall, unfortunately the second one has suffered from a lot of technical issues and the reception was very poor. But the story can reach even higher, too bad it got caught in the middle of the mess that was the gameplay. But i'm really hoping to be good, and if the developers take notes of the things that they can improve, then only good things will come out of it.
Wow. Thank you so much for clarifying this story. i played the first game and watched a lets play of the second game, and it just got even more confusing. This makes so much more sense on how you explained everything. Great video. I added this video to my playlist to explain everything, because I am sure many others are just as confused as I am drawing their own conclusions based on the first game and totally off on what sense it makes. So confusing and complex. I subscribed, you have fantastic videos, cheers. I think what confuses me the most including everyone else who has played these games: the screwed up relationships and the girls, who's who, then the whole Jennifer thing where she becomes a man, and the incest, and how Linn/Rosemary/Reed and Celeste/Jennifer/Dr. Felton have the same mother. Did I understand this correctly? Update: I am back because I just finished the Tormented Fathers game. One question that I do have is the ending when Gloria kept telling Dr Reed that she was just a copy of herself, why and what does Gloria mean by that?
Okay yeah, so rewatching and gaining a better understanding of what this story is: I just dont think this is actually DID by definition? If Richard was 10 years old by the time he was beginning to be groomed, then (unless there was previous lasting and repeated trauma conditioning his brain to split in times of stress, from before he was 8 years old when the brain's separate ego states coalesce into one personality if nurtured properly.. or he was especially slow to develop and thus developmentally younger) he was, simply speaking, already past the point of being *able* to develop DID. After your personality forms around the age of 8 years old, you would suffer from PTSD or c-PTSD rather than having dissociative identity disturbances. I'd venture to say that, since Richard was such a bright child, it's less likely that he was "stunted" and it was perhaps more likely that other traumas were present, or that he has other conditions that led him to become who he is. Maybe the mere absence of his father, as he was off at war for some time, was enough to prime his brain. Hell, I don't even know exactly why I became how I am, ya know? (dissociative system here) As with the audience's knowledge now, it'd be hard to go with a solid diagnosis there. But with even a little speculation, I suppose it isn't impossible at all lol
The third game for this series was apparently cancelled due to mediocre reception of the second one. As I see it, the story is basically complete although we're probably missing some potential gaps which may have been filled in if it continued, perhaps showcasing more about the Acherontia moths' origins and maybe Linn/Rosemary's parentage since it wasn't fully explained and she's seemingly the main protagonist of the game.
Among the things that don't make sense... 1. Why did Celeste Felton suffered from amnesia after "escaping" from the Felton villa the first time? That Richard and Ariana staged it all I get. But did they brainwash her as well as a precautionary measure in case she was caught by Wyman and Stefano? I don't think this is explained in the games. 2.a Also, I just can't get (really get) WHAT exatcly Porcelain is. It is Wyman's body, but... come on... it's humanoid-like... it's not human. 2.b Also, is he a sentient being? Does he know he's Wyman and a freak? 2.c Why is he so immortal? 2.d What do you mean when you say "his consciousnes was trapped" in the collective consciousness of the people in the hotel? 2.e If he is a sentient being, What exactly was his purpose? Why does he keep everyone in the hipnotic loop? 2.f Why, after Celeste gets rid of Porcelain's hipnotic loop, was he controlled/manipulated by Gloria and then by Linn, like he's just some sort of puppet? 2.g Was he still convincing Stefano to kidnap girls and send them to him after the accident that ripped his consciousness? If so, Why? Was he still trying to develop the Phoenoxyl 2.0?
Why does it feel like every horror game has someone from Sweden or someone moving to Sweden? Not that I mind cause I am a swede but I mean, we're not THAT scary
The ony thing that bothers me is the name of the protagonists, both the games are set in Italy, the prequel even on Mount Etna, and yet their names aren't Italian at all. Ashmann, Rosemary Reed, and Felton aren't Italian surnames. Good choice of _Cristo Morente_ and _RossoGallo_ though.
this videos abit old but i wanted to say while props for saying DID and not MPD the incorrect name as someone who is a DID system and many others like me find saying 'personality' rather offensive, its more common to say 'alter' in its place, short for altered state of cognition. saying 'personality' underminds that we are all our own unique person despite sharing a body and that we are not just sides of the same person. alot of people outside of the DID community are unaware of this so no worries just something to be mindful of ^^
HOLY HELL!!! I love the remothered games (except porcelain) and I honestly thought the game was too small to get such a good lore coverage such as this! ❤ thank you for this man, I honestly wish Remothered : Tormented Fathers got more attention as it is a good game with decent lore, it just really sucks the second game is super clunky and awful to play on. I recommend the first game! Not the second tho. Anyways, thanks for covering this dude! The first game holds a place in my heart ❤
I followed this game's development for quite a while, back when it was going to be a fan remake of "Clocktower". It seems elements still show through... it also seems with the inclusion of the moths being controlled by Jennifer that they also referenced "Phenomena" by Dario Argento. It's a shame it seems like such a mess... there are so many good ideas squirreled away here, but the voice acting was so insanely paced in the first game that it's like the narrative hit an ice patch and careened off the cliff.
That Ashmann/Richard twist had me absolutely shouting 'what?!'
Stole my woman, so I make you my woman!!! So weird...
No cause like I had put my phone down and started pacing around my room because I was taken aback so hard by that twist.

These scary games often seem to have stories FAR FAR worse than the police archive's even!!! Holy hell!
Hello, my friend. 😍 💕 Awesome upload. 👍 Big like. 🤗💖
I just finished both anddds nope, i need a full explanation xD
Listening to this twisted sitcom of a horror game I think even the founders of Umbrella would be like "Holy Shit! What's wrong with you people!" XD
Please explain dark fall ghost vigil
I literally had to try and say the family relations out loud because wow they’re all over lmao 😂
The names in this games is so confusing that i might need to write some down on paper...
Why does it feel like every horror game has someone from Sweden or someone moving to Sweden? Not that I mind cause I am a swede but I mean, we're not THAT scary
🔥🔥🔥
*looking at screen in utter confusion*
Way to many name changes😵💫
The ony thing that bothers me is the name of the protagonists, both the games are set in Italy, the prequel even on Mount Etna, and yet their names aren't Italian at all. Ashmann, Rosemary Reed, and Felton aren't Italian surnames. Good choice of _Cristo Morente_ and _RossoGallo_ though.
The developer is literally Italian and from the area the games are set. They probably know already.
I know, I'm Italian too, probably they want to apply to a wider public with more English names.
Can you put the link to those games you said before, please?
Thank you for this video, this story is so convoluted but you’ve managed to make it more digestible for me.
first time i saw a playthrough of the game i was confused as hell. im still kind of confused XD
im still confused goddamn
What is this game connection with the same title "remothered" whose story is about broken android girl?
Can you please do silent hill 2 next?
My thoughts
this videos abit old but i wanted to say while props for saying DID and not MPD the incorrect name as someone who is a DID system and many others like me find saying 'personality' rather offensive, its more common to say 'alter' in its place, short for altered state of cognition. saying 'personality' underminds that we are all our own unique person despite sharing a body and that we are not just sides of the same person. alot of people outside of the DID community are unaware of this so no worries just something to be mindful of ^^
JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
Remo hered
Isn't sequel prequel redundant?
What is the point of the 5 sec warning, if you're going to play the intro right after that?
You in a rush?
@@GamingHarryYT Nah, It just feels like anybody not wanting spoilers could just pause during the intro. I like your content btw.
I can’t wait for them to make a 3rd one soooo bad
HOLY HELL!!! I love the remothered games (except porcelain) and I honestly thought the game was too small to get such a good lore coverage such as this! ❤ thank you for this man, I honestly wish Remothered : Tormented Fathers got more attention as it is a good game with decent lore, it just really sucks the second game is super clunky and awful to play on. I recommend the first game! Not the second tho.
Anyways, thanks for covering this dude! The first game holds a place in my heart ❤
It’s very smooth and stable now.
this is one of the games that i feel i played but i dont remeber
That got way too dark at the end
Damn, wasn’t expecting queer rep in this game…I love it.
Yo this is so confusing but I'm getting it now
my ex bfs last name is Gallo
my current bf last name is Rosso lmaooo
I followed this game's development for quite a while, back when it was going to be a fan remake of "Clocktower". It seems elements still show through... it also seems with the inclusion of the moths being controlled by Jennifer that they also referenced "Phenomena" by Dario Argento.
It's a shame it seems like such a mess... there are so many good ideas squirreled away here, but the voice acting was so insanely paced in the first game that it's like the narrative hit an ice patch and careened off the cliff.
This might take the cake from MGS for most confusing franchise.
Watch 3 times still don't fully understand lol
Ah yes the moth parasitosis game
How do people come up with this type of storyline.. like this game is twisted and deep, but it does make one wonder.
Sorry for being a bit of a prick, but it's pronounced "Stéfano", not "Stefáno"
i nstill dont understandl lol
that plot was.... a lot...?
Thanks for referring to Felton by his preferred pronouns. Despite him being weird. As a trans man I appreciate it . 😌
