This was a really fascinating insight into the world of trading but also some wonderful points made about what should and shouldn’t be valued in terms of wealth and happiness. Thanks once again for putting this content out there. Its so helpful.
Just watched this now. New sub from the Russel brand episode. Feel the same, worked my ass off for money commuting to London from Brighton everyday just to try and get the wages I deserve and be able to save and it's just a choice between mental health or a reasonable wage. So much drive to achieve financial security coming from nothing but also as a woman that means I haven't had kids either. My industry is cut throat self employed. Many people waiting/ trying to trip you up. Find your content really interesting.
@@garyseconomics absolutely I will. You are such a great analyst and seem like a great person as well. I cannot believe you only have 3k subs and less than 1000 views on so many vids! That has to change. The combination of morality, intelligence and knowledge of economic matters that you offer is perhaps second to none. If I became PM, you would be my economic advisor, along with Grace Blakeley.
Life is hard for most people and we make our way as best we can the humanity within us does not go out but does dim small acts of basic decency towards people go a long way in my experience ( 75 years old )
Gary your life is, like, straight out of 'Wall Street' the movie! The message of reaching out, that we aren't among wolves no matter how much people especially men try to portray that image, is a very powerful one.
Gary's brilliant and his work is essential, but I'd like to add to what he said. If you feel like you can't go on, ask for help. Talk to your friends or anyone else who will listen to you without judgment. It has worked for me, and I'm a complete knucklehead.
Really interesting thanks. Funny enough, My Nan said there was a lady who opened up a bike shop in Emsworth, She was a trader, sounds like she made enough money to get out of it, she said it was so stressful looking after other peoples money.
I love your videos Gary, I am glad you have been a trader so you can give us a better understanding than most people could do. Yes there are wolves down on the Trading floor along with cut throat Pirates and snake etc. Years ago I wanted to be a trader but understood I would never get, but the thought of it still excited me. One day you will put all this knowledge and experience to good use in the future. Have a super Day 😀😀
Thank you so much for spreading the message and we can only hope it is heard and more people get onboard. With this particular topic I would say that sometimes it will get so tough that you may need to seek professional help and calling the Doctor or Samaritans etc doesn't make you less of a man.
This video was deep. Definitely gave us an insight into the world of institutional trading environment as a career but also the positive and negative impact it has on the individual. Keep this content coming, Sir. Will be sure to purchase a copy of your book.
This vid reminded me of "Humonculous" an excellent manga about humanity (avoid the horrible Netflix movie adaptation). Spoiler for who never read it: the homeless MC was once a very successful trader from always making great trades of mergers and insurances. But the moment he met a taxi-driver whose life was destroyed from an impact by a decision made by one of the MC' s trade, his conscience popped up and he never made a good one again, and ended up living in his car and much more healthy emotionally.
Really good video - if key elements of this economy, like finance, are being steered by "wolves" who have stopped trusting each other, what does that mean if the research shows that economic growth is more difficult in low-trust societies?
I often think about the growing levels of distrust in society, and I think that this can come when ordinary people are not well protected. Unfortunately I do think it's a big problem in our current economy - I often refrain from buying something because I don't feel I can "trust" it to be good quality.
Hi Gary, thanks so much for the work you're doing. You have a unique perspective that people need to hear. I wondered if you've considered making a video about Andrew Tate and his affiliate marketing model/get-rich-quick version of masculinity? A lot of schools are looking for resources to address this, and you're a great role model for young working-class men who could be sucked into that kind of thing.
Here's my question. Do you think the government actually wants equality and financial security for all? That would give us power @GarysEconomics. What the government has systematically done is take away the power of labour. Financial security is almost as dangerous to this system as education.
My daughter's dad, in other words, my ex (who is a wonderful guy actually) used to work in the stock exchange. I think he is a bit like you. Hyperactive. when the others were taking uppers, he had so much energy and was so charged in the evening that he had to smoke hash to come down. He was also very successful. Just like you, he stopped, for similar reasons.
I know this is an old video, but.... 8:50 you cannot have this in a monetary, competition based economic system. It's like trying to have peace with a military industrial complex. Not happening

This video is one of your very best Gary. Huge gratitude!

Great video. Thanks for sharing. Really brings some key points home.
I saw you on BBC documentary about how the rich got richer. You sound great in that and in this video. Thank you so much for making it.
Thanks Geeza - please share the channel and get the numbers up on this and my other social media, all helps build the voice

Please drop the music..
Thank goodness your message got through. No "music" in his more recent videos and thank goodness for it.
Far too loud
Wishing you the very best 🙌 hold on 👊
7:16 music is crowding his speech out
We had this problem with a lot of old videos. That's why we stopped using music. I don't think we are able to change it in retrospect

Glad you have dropped the "music" Gary in your more recent videos..distracting and unnecessary. Love your channel mate.
If you have a few minutes, listen to Simon and Garfunkel singing "Richard Corey" ... and listen to the end.
Is that "beyond the great reset" playing in the background?
The music was so goddamn intrusive.
Honestly this video should be remade.
Jep. Way too loud
@2:50 didn't Gordon Gekko say lunch is for wimps? 🙂
