I often think about Göran Kropp when stuff feels hard and I want to quit. The guy cycled from Sweden, with all his gear, to Nepal. Carried all his gear to everest basecamp, never used a sherpa. He was to summit solo, without extra oxygen. He tried to summit, but had to abort 100m from the top. Down at camp he witnessed 13 people die in the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. But that didnt stop him, and he tried again and was successful in reaching the summit. Then he climbed down and cycled back to Sweden. Hardcore dude.
Russ Cook is truly THE hardest geezer! Been watching him for a couple of months now and he seems to be at least as amazing as human beeing than he is as endurance runner. Im absolutely blown away by this man!
I followed his journey since it was announced. It's unbelievable that he was able to complete it with everything that went wrong. Also Fuck the World Running Org. Trying to put Russ down right at the end to protect a founder and friend
@Nerpo93 they were the ones that said he wasn't the first one to run them length of Africa. They said one of their founders was, even though he went from Egypt to South Africa.
Two things I want to say: 1) Yes this channel does inspire me. Zealand got me through covid and now I’ll be off to Peru to help teach children how to cook and walk up Machu Picchu. 2) This story is inspiring! I only knew about it at the end of Cook’s journey but damn he’s an inspiration and I want to run the London Marathon next year. So damn right I’m gonna do it!
Well done mate! It's awesome to be inspired by Cook! Good luck with the marathon. And good idea picking London particularly if you're trying to recreate the part where Cook got kidnapped by guys with machetes 😅
You have a great understanding of people and the world. Really satisfying to hear someone who just gets how things work/should work while maintaining kindness and general positivity. Keep everything up.
I wish it was true that anyone putting their mind to something could achieve anything, it's not, but people are for sure capable of way more than they will likely ever know they were.
I love the belief nearly every man has that they could have been a professional athlete if only X or Y had gone differently. I have had the fortune to work with a number of athletes at both college and professional level over the course of my career and was, without tooting my own horn, quite a competitive athlete in my younger days. In the gentlest possible terms, very nearly every single one of these men is wrong. You may have been quite an athlete. There are levels. You might have been quite good at sports in school. Everyone in the second division of whatever sport was the best athlete their high school ever produced.
i can really recommend to also watch the youtube series! followed along since the beginning, watched every video and the supporting group of his is also so funny and are legends too!
this guy is the definition of a national icon. never felt much pride over won wars or empires or even creating football but this random scrawny looking ginger bloke from africa has represented england in the best possible way
I thought Eddie Izzard doing 27 marathons in 27 days, then 32 marathons in 31 days (during lockdown on a treadmill in a COVID safe room) was impressive and would be hard to better. But, Hardest Geezer has gone and topped her feat.
I dont even have over confidence but i know that instead of having one year of proper gk training between 6-18 if i were to have had a proper youth academy and a better motivation i could have atleast gotten to the highest amateur level in my country. But i mostly fucked up in the motivation part tho. Sad stuff to look back at since now its a bit too late at 27 only having played futsal the last couple of years
The biggest limitation is money. It's always money. Money is the thing that limits all human potential. This guy probably spent over $100,000 doing this. Probably $60,000 of that in food.
@@IAmThatBit-- he did a lot of his running in the day, there was a period where he ran at night exclusively for around 20 days, and a lot of days where he ran into the night to complete the day's mileage. Probably did at least half of this while the sun was shining, and it was 30+ degrees, or 85+ in fahrenheit.
Find your strava? Challenge accepted! (Also achieved, wasn't that hard tbh) Also congrats on your finish of the marathon, fur us normies it is already a great achievement.
Yeah, but how else could he try to prove it. It's the most efficient and cost effective way of verifying that he did the run. As you can see in his 100 fifteen minute videos he has posted, he didn't have a giant financial backing. Also ALOT of people have ran with him during his journey and none of them have voiced any concerns of him faking the run.
Zealandism lore? No this is just a reminder to go for a run
He also basically told the Sky News reporter to fuck off when they tried to interview him immediately after he finished 😂

What happened?
Can we ge more context

You left out one of his greatest achievements: running through a desert as a ginger without bursting into flames or melting
I was on vacation in Curacao when I found out he was about to cross the finish line, I stayed in the hotel for the day to watch it
Cool
Bro nearly ran as far as N'golo Kante in a match
Wait until you see the guy running from Cape Town, South Africa to London, UK
You have a great understanding of people and the world. Really satisfying to hear someone who just gets how things work/should work while maintaining kindness and general positivity. Keep everything up.
And also have the ability to articulate in a clear and understandable way
I wish it was true that anyone putting their mind to something could achieve anything, it's not, but people are for sure capable of way more than they will likely ever know they were.
Russ is a great dude and his RUclips channel is great! All this for charity!

Lets run a 43KM virtually in Strava in a name of Zelandism
The Forest Gump of the modern ages?
Forest Gump has Hardest Geezer posters in his bedroom
Make sure to run today
The guy has a donation page for charity. Don't think i can link it but it's there and shockingly short of its goal.
16:27 this out of context
Go run
It’s crazy he said after he finished his resting heart beat is around 30 BPM…
I thought Eddie Izzard doing 27 marathons in 27 days, then 32 marathons in 31 days (during lockdown on a treadmill in a COVID safe room) was impressive and would be hard to better. But, Hardest Geezer has gone and topped her feat.
He’s on RUclips too

Whats impressive is he is ginger, in all that sun...absolute mad lad.
Z said that Cook ran at night to avoid the heat

Dang so he ran?
Idk how the media tried to discredit him within a day of him completing
Forest Gump had nothing on this guy
oh my darling you have returned. oh how i missed you
But did you go on a run?
prime zealand would have 3 morbillion views already
Find your strava? Challenge accepted! (Also achieved, wasn't that hard tbh) Also congrats on your finish of the marathon, fur us normies it is already a great achievement.
Zealand share your Strava.
He’s the only zealand on there
Daily reminder to go for a run. Btw this has never been a joke, I am incredibly offended by you saying that. Do better Zealand.
I'm 5'8, im never making the nba
Zealand go for a run, your Strava isn’t looking great
oh fuck he's starting to talk about other things than football, becoming more and more like critikal
Can we change this channel to only talk about people running please?
Zealandism switchting to running content. Really fell off.
Bro, Barca cooked PSG
hala madrid!
good game tbf
Video 15 asking for a video on coventry
No views wow. Really fell off.
Probably ran off a cliff
That joke wasn't even fubny the first 5 times people did it
The fell off jokes really fell off
Only one way?!? Weak.
This guy can't hold a candle to Forrest Gump.
308 views in 12 minutes, this channel is really going through some rough times, sad to see it😢
The possibility of hand making Strada runs stops me from believing this is even possible.
50km/day through the desert just doesn't sound doable

There's no way this comment gets mentioned in a future video
No views in 13 years fell off hard
