This and all your other vids are amongst the best "core" ADV offerings. WHERE are you? I haven't watched anything near as good for ages. From a gen 2 KLR guy who doesn't go as hard as you but likes to watch!!! Always impressed.
Cheers Mike! That is a huge compliment, and very motivating to get back into the videos. This ride was definitely some of the gnarliest stuff Ive done. I have been on some other adventures between, but I have sadly been busy with some renovations at home and also work, which both have not left me much time for the bike. I still have some big trip plans, and id like to get out very soon and do some more of the high country tracks. Great to have a fellow KLR enthusiast around! thanks for watching and hanging around, I will have some new stuff up soon!
hahahaha when u found that coffee on the track! I’ve had something similar once but with a shifter 😂 love that idea of setting camp and goin on a day ride lightweight 👌🏻
Its such a good feeling finding the long lost items on the tracks. Yeah I think it is a good idea setting up camp and doing a lightweight day loop, its amazing how much better they ride without the gear on them, the KLR is heavy enough without luggage!!
22:00 Yours is the first video that shows the steepness (at least better than most.) Holy cow. Between you and @onthebackwheel team KLR is being represented!
Oh yeah this was a steep one. Like you say the GoPro flattens it heaps. The KLR definitely holds its own on the tricky stuff, glad to be repping it well, it’s a great bike. I’m definitely a fan of onthebackwheels KLR content. Thanks for watching.
This was the most intense KLR video I’ve seen 😂 you unknowingly called out all the other adv moto Vloggers who always say “the GoPro isn’t picking it up but the trail reeeaaallly steep guys” LOL I could clearly see how insanely steep that trail was. Great riding! Cheers from America 🍻🇺🇸
Thanks a lot mate! Welcome to the channel, Im really glad you are enjoying the videos. Its great that you are getting a laugh out of them too, because I have a lot of fun with them.
Bro that was sick! This number 1 shows your skill, but on the other hand, shows exactly what the klr650 is capable of in the right hands! I can't wait until the snow melts up in the hills around here so I can get back up there! Please keep your videos coming in. Nice to see a klr650 at work doing what it is born to do!!! Well done sir..
The treasure hunt! hahah, got to love it. Thanks for the support, Im glad you are enjoying the content, keeps me keen to keep getting out and making videos.
Hey mate, glad you took my advice and hit the Collingwood Spur track. That main one you did is a doosey, as other comments have said, your camera angle really does show the inclines like no other. Awesome effort and you definitely rock the KiLeR!! 10/10
Hey mate, thanks for the recommendation, it was a cracker of a track, amazing views on the way down, and a fun climb on the way up, I loved it! That whole area up there is epic.
Thanks, yeah it is a serious track! I was planning to actually go down the brewery ck track, but was stressing about petrol, I would have loved a rest, I was so wrecked by that point…
Cheers mate, that’s great that you are loving the videos, it’s great motivation for me to keep making them. Haha it was some very genuine joy to find the iced coffee!! funny looking back at it now…
Cheers mate! That’s great that you are enjoying the content, I appreciate the support! Some more stuff will be up soon I’ve just got back from a weeklong trip.
Cheers, Im glad you enjoyed the video. It was the steepest climb I have come across so far on the KLR! The Himalayans are great and similar to the KLR in a lot of ways, understated but capable and very fun.
That’s truly epic, have only done Billy goats going down and I couldn’t see myself going up especially solo. What’s your background with riding, seems your not a stranger to big hills. Awesome riding and starting off from mid hill, brilliant. One track I wouldn’t recommend is mt Sunday rd, couple of mates got stuck, they nearly made it missed out by one climb. Awesome videos
Thanks for the kind words. Billygoats going down is still a bit of a handful. My background with riding, I rode small trail bikes a lot growing up, had a wr250f that I loved and rode on Rec reg about 18 years ago, and then nothing until I picked up this klr about 15 months ago. Now you have me curious about this Mt Sunday track!! Sounds full on!
I am really glad you asked for this! I actually just clicked over 10000km on this trip, so my plan is for the next video to do a 10k KM review, and I will cover all the mods, and talk about all the different tyre options I have run, and all the things I have broken & fixed on the bike. I will put it out next week sometime. Are there any other things you would like to see in that video? Thanks for watching.
@@NotShookADV Any future mods you're thinking of doing and if you get bored i'd be keen to see your camp set up and equipment and tools you carry but that's probably another video Good excuse for another weekend away lol😂
Another great showing on the Klr: thoroughly enjoyed it. Those hill starts on the Basalt Tk looked pretty hellish. I'm keen to cross the crooked River - was this late summer? I don't think I can take a 411 Himalayan that deep if it's over a Klr seat as the air intake isn't very high. So interested to see Hema using a grading system: I'm so keen to do more of the Vic Alps but have been hesitant because of the huge disparity in track difficulty. So is that a Hema app on your phone or something else?
Cheers mate! Yep the basalt track in its condition on this ride was no doubt the hardest track I have encountered in the Vic high country so far. Yep this was late summer, I think you would be fine on the himmy, there was only one hole that splashed over the seat, if you did some good scouting and pick a line, would be no worries at all. Yeah it’s just the hema maps app on the phone, not a bad app, wouldn’t recommend it as your sole nav but a good one that compliments other maps. The grading system is probably fine for 4WDs but can’t be trusted for bikes. Still better than nothing though.
@@NotShookADV Thanks for your replies. It's great to see people doing challenging riding in Australia's beautiful bush. Victoria's Alpine country is probably my favourite area in Australia. Really appreciate your energy and enthusiasm and hope you'll make some more content in the future.
No worries, thanks a lot for the kind comments and support. I agree, the Vic high country is the best place in Aus to explore on the bikes! Iam planning to get back into making some videos now the weather and tracks will start drying out a bit, and hearing that you are enjoying the content is really motivating, so thanks again.
Im thinking of buying a new KLR650 !!! im also new to motorcycle riding , just got my learners permit ..... first bike ! can you give me any suggestions what sort of bike to buy first ...... do you know of any courses in melbourne vic I should do to improve my skill level ......... thanks great video !!!!!!!!
Depending on what riding you are planning to do, I would maybe consider starting off-road riding on a smaller and lighter bike, you will fast track your learning. While the KLR is great off-road, a lot of people I know without a off-road riding experience have struggled initially with big adventure bikes. That said, the klr is excellent and easy to ride off-road, as long as you are strong enough to lift it. Training wise , I’m not too sure. Maybe HAART have a course. There is no better way to learn though just get out there, and have a crack, learn as you go. Good luck, and get out there and test ride a few different bikes make sure it’s a good fit.
Gday hector, In this video I was running the Motoz tractionator RallZ on the rear, and the Bridgestone battalax adventure cross on the front. Since then I have changed to a Motoz desert HT on the front, and a Motoz tractionator adventure on the rear. I think this is a better all round setup, a lot nicer on the road with a lot less road noise than the rallz and double or more of the kms.
