I remember jamming through my entire list of Calibre dating all the way back to 2001 on my way from Dallas to Colorado Springs driving 16 hours to start a new life and when i finally got to his masterpiece of an album "The Deep", right then and there i saw them snow covered peaks for the first time while the first song on the album "No One Gets You" rang off as i escaped the desolate desert and into a beautiful mountainous scenery that looked like it came straight out of a Bob Ross painting, i was in a trance, taken by that very moment and it almost had me in tears ... Just wanted to say thank you for the people that commented here. Sad that most of those kids haven't got the life experience to fully appreciate the subtle, nuanced emotional genius that is Calibre. God bless his music.
I've been in this scene 30 years and for me, Calibre is the most consistent high quality producer out there. Nobody comes close. Very versatile with different subgenres of dnb which he produces. He isn't a dillinja as dilli is 2nd to none for heavy nasty drums and dark production, but dilli is nowhere near as versatile. I'll get crucified for mentioning calibre as top, but I am such a fan boy I don't really care.
@meteb1100 Mate, you're not wrong, and it's not even a discussion. At this point anyone saying Calibre isn't the absolute greatest by an Irish country mile either doesn't like liquid or likes to be different to seem edgy. It's beyond personal favourites now. Nobody can deny him. I say this as a fan of techstep for 25 years and liquid for only 5.
Third listen and the set keeps surprising me. Spectacular. I have tonight been fortunate to have been able to partake in a little MDMA and ended up listening to this set again through a pair of high quality headphones and the experience has been out of this world. This mix consists of some beautifully produced drum and bass tunes and some of the little effects zipping around the tunes just keep making my hairs stand on end. An hour just isn't long enough.

Got to see Calibre play a 3 hour set at Koko in 2024 - was one of the best sets I’ve ever heard in 35 years of going out . The man is a genius- I love the spaces in his tunes as they also roll out - he has learnt his dub from Lee Scratch Perry / King Tubby and the Scientist and rinsed it out a la Fabio and the other liquid pioneers - it’s simply sublime and infectious 😮
