    Great videos on different and some unique level, I have started watching in detail all your videos, really hungry for Sinamics S120, thank you so much.

      My old videos have some great information, at that point I worked almost daily on S120 applications when I was an Application Engineer. Now I feel like I do more with PLCs but miss the cool stuff people were doing with the S120.

    Could you please explain the difference between SLM and ALM modules?

    • @jasonwattsae
      @jasonwattsae  Год назад +2

      Yes, I believe that there is a lot of information in my product overview video, but here is a short explanation:
      SLM: Smart Line Module. This is a "Line Commutated" IGBT bridge rectifier that allows for current to flow back onto the grid. Harmonics are similar to a 6 pulse drive so a line reactor is required to protect the grid. This would be a standard regen drive
      ALM: Active Line Module. This is a "Self Commutated" IGBT bridge rectifier that is capable of gating the IGBTs so that not only can it correct for power factor, but it can also boost the DC link voltage during low line supply voltages so that motor torque is not affected. In the US, the minimum DC link voltage on an ALM is system is around 720V. You must use a tuned harmonic filter called the AIM (Active Interface Module) that eliminates almost all of the harmonics cause by IGBT switching. The ALM has the ability to be used as a grid former to create an island grid.
      In almost all cases, a SLM system is less expensive than an ALM, but the ALM makes the system very immune to line power fluctuations and allows for much better torque regulation at the motors.
      I hope this helps! I'll put this down as a topic to discuss because the ALM is a really cool piece of technology by itself.

    Hi, thank you very much for your videos!! But I have a problem when I want to add a drive: when I add a device I am only offered controllers, HMI and PC systems but not drives. Is this a package that needs to be added? Or maybe my version doesn't allow it (I'm using v16)?

    • @jasonwattsae
      @jasonwattsae  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes! You need to download and install a free package called "Startdrive Basic". Below is the link to V16:

    How to communicate Siemens driver g120 using c#(csharp)?

    • @jasonwattsae
      @jasonwattsae  5 месяцев назад

      That would be interesting to say the least. I have never thought about how to send ProfiNet messages from .Net because there are some issues with bus priority... maybe you could control it using direct parameter access.... great thought! I will do some research and get back with you.

    Hi sir
    If possible, Please upload training video for S71200 CPU, V90PN SERVO, positioning mode in drive and to_object in TIA portal project, standard Telegram 111 in v90 parameters,

    • @jasonwattsae
      @jasonwattsae  Год назад

      Telegram 111 is a great telegram to use if you are not using technology objects, but most of the functionality of EPOS is easier to use the the "Position Axis" TO. There is an EPOS TO in later versions of TIA Portal, but all it does is make the configuration of the SINA_POS FB easier.
      The easiest way to control a V90 with an S71200 (I have done this on a few of my projects) if you are using EPOS is to use the SINAPOS block found at the link below:
