- In the village of Vallabrègues in Provence, Atelier Vime, owned by Benoit Rauzy and Anthony Watson, is reviving the local wicker culture in a contemporary way. The pair, who have lovingly restored an 18th-century hôtel particulier and former wicker workshop in the village, have brought their visions to life with the help of designer Raphaëlle Hanley and local craftsmen. It is here that they create wicker and rattan furniture and have formed a collection of antique wicker furniture, which together have earned them a loyal following in the design world. The tiny imperfections and rough edges lend subtlety, depth, and grace to the entire house. Glad they didn't overhaul and paint over the entire place. Lovely.

If this house was in the States, neighbors would complain that the house and the grounds are in disrepair and would try to have it condemned. In Provence, it looks so beautiful.

I love how the old character of the house is respected, even with some deterioration of the walls...old remnants of paint and plaster, and tiles. Most people would renovate and modernize a lovely antique home...stripping away it's true beauty and character.
The house & décor is exquisite, and the renovation done in the way I would have liked to do it.
The video perfectly captures the mood of what it must be like to work and live there.
So happy that there are people who can still see the value in saving such wonderful buildings.

I once visited a beautiful old Spanish home that was for sale. I was fortunate ( or unfortunate) to see what the new owners did to it🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ They Totaly removed everything authentic in the house and made everything a boring beige. These people were even stupid enough to bring the tiles from UK when Spanish of Moroccan tiles far suited the style of the house. Magnificent copper canopied fireplaces were ripped out in favour of modern. Well for goodness sake buy a modern house then if that's what you like. But to destroy such authentic beauty is beyond me. I call such people house murderers !!!!
