-Pro- amateur tip if you want to make any lego watertight : drop it into a hot bath of melted candle wax (not too hot though, don't melt your LEGO lol). Get it out of the container to get rid of the exedent. Let it dry (it solidifies quick), and all the interstices between the bricks will be filled by "joints" made of dry wax 😁. This is what I do sometimes when I'm too lazy 😅. This works well for masking too (when I paint things). The cool thing is that you can easily remove the wax and not destroy your build. (sorry, I'm French I hope my English is not too trashy ^^) _edit_ : you can also use plastidip or car covering wrap. Works pretty fine too, and cost nothing is you have some spares from an old project.
for a bigger ship take a styrodur plate instead of the small styropor, much more boost, for the holes under the boat I took some book binding foil from the outside.:_9
A vintage technique to make your boats watertight is to rub crayons between the bricks to act like a sealant.
Can you remove the material afterwards?

With a bit of effort, I'd assume. It's just a wax coating, and honestly it kinda mirrors what would be used on real boats.
Fantastic, my childhood dream ship starting to swim, can't believe it !
Making that ship float has been my dream since I was eight!
@@brickandgear same.
I have achieved things before. I made a Lego research ship that could even lower a camera
I have nether thought this would be possible. I thought about it when i was younger but never thought it could happen. Great idea!
We've all thought of floating LEGO ships when we were younger, haven't we? 😁

I want other LEGOpirate ships to float as well.
If I get my hands on other ships, I'll motorize them as well!

That's a bit risky. Even for me! 😅
What a wonderful job, I loved the idea of using sellotape for sealing!
Thank you! It kept the water outside quite well. I used a temporary silicone sealant for my latest build, and that did a much better job!

I love this crazy thought. Well done! You made a big smile on my face with the "hard turn starboard!" 😂
You can imagine the smile on my face when I put it in the bathtub and realized it floated and the balance was ok! 😁
this is great! And really inspiring! Great job!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy my other projects as well!
You know what my dream is to turn a lego motorized dragon into one that goes underwater like a sea monster
Challenge accepted...
This is awesome :) I've this Lego ship too in my collection. In my opinion one of the greatest Lego builts ever created!
True!
Yep, you could definitely charge for this. Lego ship conversion business :)
I could do something similar in the future! 😁
I like this
I'm glad you do! 😁
@@brickandgear I can't afford to do it 😅

Love it
Glad you do!
always thought of doing this cool
You should try it!
@@brickandgear maybe I should
I should do this with my Skull's Eye Scooner
You should!
Nice!
😁
I would never take a 200 dollar pirate ship into a river lol
I've wanted to do that since I was 8, so... 😁
Great ❤
I’m back!
Hello! 😁
Cool as
😁
Can you motorized the pirates of berracuda bay
Isn't that an island?
Yeah you turn this into a ship also😊
cool :^)
😁
Now make the Silent Mary float
That's a tough one! If I get my hands on one, I will! I'll have to make it look like it's floating above the water though...
@@brickandgear I was joking haha
It would make a very impressive video! 😁
Cool, how do I do it for the brick bounty I know it’s an old ship but I wanna know
Same process I suppose. The Barracuda is very old as well.
@@brickandgearthey’re pretty cool
What battries are you using so you can control it from your phone?
I'm using a POWERUP 4.0 module. It's intended use is paper planes, but a pirate ship seemed ok to me... 😁
you cant just clean dust from breaks?
Makes it look more vintage... 😁
Motorize the titanic plsss
That would be super cool, but unfortunately the Titanic is too expensive for my current budget. Maybe in the future!
Avec un Lego c'est trop difficile de faire flote sur leau
Avec quelques compétences en ingénierie et de l'imagination, tout est possible! 😁
👁👁!!!
😮oooo
