this would be a cool rematch. it looked like thiago came to impose his will until hector strongly countered followed by some continuous pressure, but thiago looked like he was loosening up after seperating from hector and even eventually looked like he couldve in the midst of turning this fight around before it ended.

Initially I thought he was just hurt from the punch and used the knee as an excuse to get out of the fight… But watching the replay, no it wasn’t a hard shot, but it did catch him cleanly on the temple and Silva is a tank. Probably did a lot more damage than it looks like in real time.
Been kneed like that while going for a takedown in practice. I wasn’t asleep, but I had to sit out for about 15 minutes. I watched it back and it didn’t look as bad as it felt. Could have been the case here.
Points need to be taken at the pro level especially if there is damage. If the refs are always going to just give warnings, then there is nothing to prevent fighters from using these illegal tactics to change the outcome of their fights, (John Jones eyepokes). MMA refs need to make things consistent, unintentional or not, if it's a clean shot, they should lose a point. You warn children, you enforce with knowing adults. Let's stop treating pro fighters like babies.
