Couldn't you look at the window sticker on the windshield of the car to determine fuel economy? I am not sure the six cylinder will make much difference in efficiency. The old G500, G63, and G65 all seemed to get 13 miles per gallon despite having different engines. I think the fuel economy is more based on the high rolling resistance, heavy weight, and poor aerodynamics.
Mercedes finally updated the G-Wagon to be exactly where it needs to be.

can you speak more to the performance of the 6 cylinder with the 48v e system compared to the V8 in the prior G550?
It pulls very hard, I would say this 6 feels stronger than the version of the v8 the 550 previously had.

The fuel economy on the window sticker tends to be very conservative. Need some time on the road to find out the real numbers!
