Have you tested it with a load ? I'm thinking of towing around 2500 lb total weight of load from Texas to Iowa via 2009 matrix. Do you think that is possible??
I’d be very careful pulling that much weight, but if you brake accordingly and keep a safe distance you should be fine. We pulled an atv for almost 2 hours with zero issues, but that was roughly 1200 lbs trailer included. Pulled with no issues! Best of luck!

I tow all the time with my matrix. Only putting the wiring on because I'm now pulling a boat.
I tow a trailer with my matrix all the time. I do get funny looks, but it works! 🤷
Going up mountains is hard for any 4banger. I would be curious it would fair as well. I love my 2003 matrix.
