I was at this game in the kop. It was quite an even game took a superb goal from barnes to break the dedlock arsenal scored a good goal to level matters. thankfully Liverpool won the replay.
This Liverpool side between 1985 - 1991 could have easily won another European Cup such a shame. When you look at some of these players playing for Liverpool.
@@mr.realist2395 leave brian marwood alone, he was a very good striker, and he spent two year's at Arsenal, and back then in that era, you had a lot of good striker's in the Arsenal squad such as charlie nicolas, niall quinn, kevin campbell, paul merson and alan smith, so it was very difficult to get matches consistently.
John Barnes never gets the credit he deserves top three players in the world between 87 and 91
It was watching Barnes that showed me how football should be played. The fast quick passes even into the box. What an art!
The European ban came at the worst time for a lot of players of that era. That Liverpool side with him, Beardsley etc would've smashed it in Europe.
He does from Liverpool fans.
Great goal by Barnes but the way Rocky puts his laces through the ball for the equaliser has me purring every time I see it
A very underrated Arsenal team. This game illustrates that they would be worthy champions that season against a fantastic Liverpool side.
Jason Crowley yes this result really gave them confidence to go and win there 6 months later in May 1989
arsenal0782 no doubt lol never forget May 1989 still the best ever finish to a league season!!!🏆

It just strikes me now that this result must have given the arsenal confidence to go and win at Anfield 6 months later in May of 1989.
Oh Rocky Rocky Rocky Rocky Rocky Rocastle!!!! What a finish!!! Let’s see some of that today Arsenal come on
2 players in this game no longer with us. Rocky & Gary Abblet. RIP

17'27" - Do I recall an identical chance in this fixture some 6 months later?????!!!!!!!!
Worth pointing out that it was The Arsenal that “knocked them right of their f***ing perch”...and not Yanited.
a great 👍 Arsenal team 👏
I remember Arsenal fans at school saying that Marwood was better than Barnes! Haha.
Gregz0r happy birthday John Barnes 54 today.
Marwood still won the league at Anfield a few month's later.
@@zansportsnewstv473 Yeah they traded the title for the next couple of years. Both were great teams. My point still stands though.
Marwood was better than Magical Barnes? Get real

My first time at Anfield 2 time I watched big Tony pick up the league
