Just saw more of your lessons-nevermind- I have more of your vids to check out. Thanks for your time to teach!
KeniLee,
Thanks for making these lessons available. I'm more a builder than a player, although I'm playing more and more... mostly fretless slide. I'm looking forward to learning from you.
Thanks again,
Wichita Sam
Thank you Keni! Night owl sent me to you and I just ordered CD4 & CD6.
Thank you for your purchase.
@lucasmorter Thank you for sharing the lyrics. I remember going to YMCA camp as a young boy and this was one of the regular camp fire sing-alongs. A great song to explore the CBG's fingerboard too. Enjoy.
Thank you Wichita Sam. Well keep on building and although fretless is good, gets some frets too. I got a whole lot of interesting lessons in the works. Please feel free to write if you want to shoot the breeze about anything. Enjoy.
@TheEHermit Thank you for your purchase and comment. Yes, in true folk fashion, creating new lyrics. Although, maybe just a wee bit too specific. LOL Enjoy.
Unlike guitars that are fretted to play the Chromatic scale, Dulcimers are fretted to play a Diatonic scale (major scale). Basic music theory applies to all instruments, but dulcimer chords are fingered differently than a standard or open tuned guitar due to the frets. Strum sticks are basically dulcimers that can be held like a guitar.
@PatrickA284 Thank you for your encouragement. Sorry about the delayed reponse. I just returned from a 15 day trip to China. Happy Hoildays. Enjoy, Keni Lee
@talc89a Thank you for your interest and comments. It is nice to hear that you and your son are spending some quality time together enjoying music. Please contact me when you post your video. I would enjoy seeing it. Enjoy.
Thank you. Please consider purchasing my Series 1 CD. It will offer a progressive approach that will help you build a firm foundation. First practice the major scale with the Bottleneck. Then try open bass note with treble note same time. Like a pinch with two fingers. Then try alternating a treble note in between the open bass note. Enjoy.
Thank you for your comment and question. Make sure you visit Cigar Box Nation. There are many builders there to help answer your questions. I play acoustically. Many players install piezoelectric pickups. These picksup do not work magnetically, but pick up vibrations. The can be used regardless of the type of strings used on the instrument.. They work on even those using nylon strings. Enjoy.
??? Thank you for your interest and question. Didn't you watch the video? I mentioned, ADG strings. Why not buy the CD and give it a try? Enjoy, Keni Lee
You are welcome. Thank you for your interest and comments. Enjoy.

From a medium pack of guitar strings. Use the A,D,g,e strings. Tune your CBG G,D,g,d It will be just like my 3 string CBG but with an extra high string. Enjoy.
@TheEHermit Thank you for your comment. Not quite sure I understand your reference. Enjoy.
Yes. Google: cbgitty. Have you been to cigarboxnation? Thank you for your interest and question. Enjoy.
@MrNikcccc Thank you for your comment. Greatly appreciated. Enjoy.
@z454 Thank you. I appreciate your interest and taking the time to comment. Enjoy.
Thank you for your question. My Series 1 CD offers instruction for the student with little or no experience. It explains basic music theory including scales and chord building. Although the CD is geared toward 6 string, if it is used with these upcoming lessons, I believe it will present an understandable approach. As I will explain, it is not difficult to learn CBG, it just requires self motivated exploration. The CBG is just a mini 6 string. Please stay tuned for the upcoming lessons.
Thank you.
Great playin, Keep it goin :)

Thank you Brendan for your interest. Please feel free to write if I can answer any questions and help you with your practice. Enjoy.

@lucasmorter To be sung in round fashion with:
Show me the way to my habitual abode,
I'm fatigued and I wish to retire.
Oh, I had a mini beverage sixty minutes ago,
And it went straight to my cerebellum.
Where ever I may perambulate,
By land or sea or effervescent bubbles,
You can always hear me singin' this song,
Show me the way to my habitual abode.
BTW I just bought the CD!
@tempestaisback Thank you for your comment. Congratulations on your first build. If you enjoyed this video, please check out CD 4 and CD 6 for more 3 string CBG lessons. Visit ebay and search: keni lee Feel free to write if you have any questions. Enjoy your practice.
Direct me to my residence -- I'm fatigued and I want to retire -- I had a little drink of intoxicating liquor -- and it went right to my cerebrum. -- Wherever I may travel -- on land or sea or gravel -- you can always hear me harmonizing this ditty -- Direct me to my residence.
cool.
@KeniLeeBurgess You should hear me sing King Friday XIII's version of "Row Row Row Your Boat"!
Thank you Pat. Very nice sounding mandolin. Would you be interested in sponsoring these lessons? If you purchase one of my CDs, I will gladly post on one of my upcoming lessons your url contact information for your CBGs, so my viewers can come visit you. I would greatly appreciate the support. Enjoy.
Love the vids Keni. I'm still working on that fingerpicking. Any suggestions on how to combine bass lines with the melody? I just can't get the timing.
Thanks- Wade
Well, what we now know as a guitar and it's standard tuning EADgbe is relatively new, compared to the long history of string instruments. Standard guitar tuning is a compromise to be able to play in all the various keys. Open tuning reduces the instrument to a simple single key. Usually a chord. Three tones. The 1,3,5 from the major scale. So, if you study the interval relationships between these 3 tones you can play an instrument with any number of strings. Thank you for your question. Enjoy.
sounds great!!! what strings are these?
Hi! I build a CBG, but my CBG is for 4 strings. I don't know waths strings and what tune I need..I apreciate your suggestions.(sorry I don't speek wel)
