Best diss track 2018
what are you doing here dude?
average metalhead
Writing a comment duh
Hi bass boi
Very impressive, but...
Slipknot
Wow. WOW.
shit's about to go down yo
RoomieOfficial RESPONSE VIDEO WHEN
Rob scallon has denounced you
(Note: you are not a war)
You're in a chart-topping track, don't complain
I want to see where this goes.
Little did he know this would be the start of the chain of events that started the band First of October
aka the Greatest Band of All Time
i was literally like 'imma check the comments and see if someone says it' and lo and behold lol
It was awesome to be here for it lmao
Rob at the start: It should be more than 1 & a half minutes.
Woo!: Are you challenging me?
"I'm gonna write a song in under an hour!"
Me (a punk musician) "You mean it's supposed to take longer than 10 minutes to write a song?"
lol spot on
Yes.
I just write a song in a couple minutes on the guitar... EASY!
Just kidding, it's easy when you came up with something before, but when you need to think of something new; that's a different story.
@@sauskar3308 For me it's all about inspiration. If I'm not inspired to write something, it can definitely be a process to make a song either from the ground up or based on a previous idea I had. But if I can capture that inspiration and use it's momentum, then the song comes naturally. Most of the songs I write are just products of harnessing inspiration, and so far it seems to work well.
@@TheBlackKnight1o1 that's what I do too. I just take month intervals at a time waiting for something to strike.
When your project is due in an hour
The way I see no replies here is probably because you confused me like everybody else
Heavy Metal Pepi yeah what the heck
How are you confused
What is there to be confused about
The comment means what it says it doesn't even take a full single braincell to understand it lmao
@@kotalee4049 Everything is relative
This isn't something that can be relative
it simply - is - lol
Song seems normal to me!
Yeah, this Rob Scallon guy seems good
Seems like a soft-hate ambiental song against Roomie: nice done !
You copy to RobScallon >:’v
Pretty normal
RobScallon2 I don't know man but I don't think that he (Rob) liked it! ;)
Accidental diss track
Yeah something no one cares about like Paranoid and Smoke on the water (they were considered fillers by the band at recording time, and uhm they are loved by so many - myself included - so you never really know)
Eduardo Alejandro del Corral Lira nobody asked u
The most midwestern thing I can imagine coming from Rob o' boy
Nolan no one asked you headass
0:52 cat going in and out of existence
LMAO
glad i wasn’t the only one that noticed
The most beautiful song Ive ever heard. Roomie? More like Whomie. Bill gets it
Bill really brought his A game to this track.
Mmh-hmm!
Bill from Nostagia Critic on the Uh hu!
Bill is Robs alter ego
He's in a relationship with Tamera so that makes sence
This is the chillest diss track ever
American Football: "Write that down, Write that down!"
bill sure knows whats up
Love that dude. He's so humble.
Best diss track I've heard so far.
Waiting for Roomie to release the song "I play shovel guitar better than Rob Scallon"
Sergio Moreno same😂😂😂
Justin Johnson is the best at shovel guitar
Sergio Moreno same homie 😂
Low-Budget Pink Floyd
Ethan this made laugh in my insides
more like a low budget john mayor
Name one Pink Floyd song sounding like this.
fearless, maybe?
IF ROB SCALLON EVER ENTERS MY STUDIO HE'LL HAVE HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM WITH AN OLD FASHIONED BEAT DOWN, HE WILL WALK OUT WITH TWO BLACK EYES AND BROKEN LEG
=> rob hates his work
=> still authentically makes me shed a single manly tear.
it would be really beautiful with some polishing and actual lyrics
No Roomies were harmed in the making of this video.
LOL
The vocals killed me haha
rob spent two whole minutes in the bathroom
Either the longest piss ot shortest shite
Challenge idea. You, andrew, Dave, and roomie all have an hour to make a song BUT...everyone picks everybody else's presets and samples to try and screw them over
Love to see this
Lol Rob working on the guitar part
Me: "wow that sounds beautiful"
Rob: "this sounds awful"
Panzer Man i hope he release some album because the rhythm is so cool.
Is the tuning F A C G C e?
Wow. Just wow. It's amazing how good...and bad...this is. ;)
Chad Mercer comented one daay ago wtf
Probably bcs he is a patreon.
+PlopKonijn yea that's it

"I've used these chords a lot."
Every punk musician: these four chords are my best friends.
"Better than Roomie records"
Rob could drop some pots and pans down some stairs and still somehow make a brilliant song
Sounds like a great Andrew Huang video
Yeah Andrew Huang did one. He tossed a gopro down some stairs and made a beat out of it :D
if you're interested in hearing what it sounds like, that's actually exactly how The Dillinger Escape Plan's guitarist Ben Weinman once described their music
4:12 "That actually sounds cool!" literally less than a second later "Nope, I don't like any of that" *deletes guitar track*
Lyrics:
"Hey there Roomie!, I got something to te....I can't....It's just me talking about Roomie, I got something to tell you bro. Sorry to tell you this way, But your bad, Oh man!, I stink so much better than you. And here is the plan, I'm gonna tell everyone about it man! Ha Ha!"
"Everybody knows, That I'm, I'm, I'm a better singer than Roomie"
"Sorry to tell this way! But just because your Swedish doesn't mean that it's not okay, For me to let you know through a song, I got 7 seconds Roomie! That, I'm just gonna have to over dub something, Um Bye!"
"Everybody knows, That I'm, I'm, I'm a better singer than Roomie"
"Everybody knows, That I'm so much better than Roomie!"
"Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAH!" x2
"That's what I'm talkin about Bill!"
-You can thank me later ;)
12:09
Halfway sounds like Rick would say to Morty when written down
13:10 - Honestly that bit of the chorus where you came in too early with the "that I'm... I'm a better singer than Roomie" works out really well. You saved it, and it actually made a really interesting two-vocal part. I like it so much that I think it's worth putting into an actual song.
I hope Roomie covers this, by the way.
Honestly?
pev87 Is that a reference to the song or just a coincidence?
Honestly!
Atanih23 He/She probably never meant
OtroTipo Más FOR SURE it wasn't a reference
only real American Football fans know this unreleased demo

don't click the link unless you approve stupid shameless clickbait self-promotions
+Mark Paligar Zero clickbait. I really didn't it. I don't think self promotion is something bad.
+Mark Paligar zero clickbait. I really made a song in 55 minutes. I don't think self promotion is something bad
Vicktor Davydov general rule of thumb, don't post a link to your own video on other people's videos unless people want you to. You're really only gonna annoy people.
I love the lyrics, they're stuck in my head..
Hey there Roomie
I got something to tell you (this is just me talking bout Roomie)
I got something to tell you bro
Sorry to tell you this way, but you're bad, oh man
I sing so much better than you
And here's the plan: i'm gonna tell everyone about it man haha
Everybody knows that i'm, i'm
That i'm a better singer than Roomie
I'm sorry to tell you this way
But just cuz you're swedish doesn't mean that it's not
Ok for me to let you know through a song...
¡I got seven seconds Roomie! That...
Ok i just have to overdub something, goodbye
Everybody knows that i'm, i'm
That i'm a better singer than Roomie
Everybody knows that i'm so much better than Roomie
Woah, Yeah
Woah (wah wah wah wah), Yeah (that's what i'm talking about Bill)
+DeTodoUnPoco put the lyrics on Genius and the track on iTunes ^__^
LOL LOL LOL sure I like to see you try to sing but I'm kind of scared cuz my ears bleed and by the way your comment is so cheesy and crunchy just thought I would let you know so you can stop the beginning embarrass (not sorry)
Mike Lalonde he was doing the lyrics dumbass
True hero right here
OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS IS PERFECT.
Okay, seriously, Rob.... this needs to become a thing. Next time, you should let us vote on: Genre, Subject and a selection of Tempos you choose and give yourself like 1:30 to do it all. Oh! And maybe vote on a guest you could collab with and what part they will fill! Like Stevie T on vocals! Or Jared Dines on Harp!
YES!
these cats need to learn from JAZZERS: improvisation isn't as hard as you think. Tangerine Dream, Miles Davis, and umpteen others make BRILLIANT ALBUMS... in real time! 45 minutes!
(you can learn to write songs in REAL time: lay down a few chord progressions, then improv the drums then improv the bass then do over dubs. Less than 30 minutes, including editing / mixing.)
We know about jazzers, this iis a totally different thing, more interesting actually for me because he has more options, listen to the andrew huang version of this, doesn't matter how many "JAZZERS" you get they are never going to be able to do that, also the process is much funnier to watch
He could collab with davie
5:12 sounds like the kind of tune before someone says "Do you want to know 20 secrets on how to live a properous lifee? Hi I'm Sandra, welcome to my audio book"
Errold Tumaque
Underrated comment.
This is truly amazing, and the song came out great! Keep up the great work Rob.
That’s what I’m talking about Bill!!!!!
Are you shit..like DUDE
"That's what I'm talkin' about Bill!"
Favourite bit!
This actually has taught me a lesson of sorts. When it comes to songwriting I’m very impatient with myself and tend to get very frustrated and depressed when I have a hard time coming up with ideas I like. This kinda showed me that I need to slow down and be able to have fun doing it. Thanks, Rob. Keep it up, dude.
Such a positive outlook on the video! Keep it up my dude!!
Something that helps me write music is starting without expectations and getting ideas out as soon as they come. How I used to make music was sitting down and trying to make something I had come up with in my head. Obviously it never sounded exactly how it was in my head so I’d get frustrated and give up. Now I just sit down and play with sounds until something stands out and roll with it. And I used to spend way too much time on the smaller details before moving on to another section. I’d delete things that didn’t fit and start over. Now I get out as many ideas as I can before I get used to how the track sounds and it begins to feel like I shouldn’t change it anymore (hopefully you’ve experienced this too lol). Also, I save all ideas that sound good in case they can fit somewhere in the song later.
You weren’t asking for this input but it helped me so maybe it’ll help you lol
Awesome, dude. I love these challenges. You and Leo's inspired me try it out. It's a good way of running with your first idea. Love it.
I love this! I am a fan of American Football so watching someone make a similar sounding made me really happy. And I can't stop laughing right at the end there when you were adding the lyrics. Idk man it just also made me so sentimental and melancholic and nostalgic and happy all at once. This made my day! #ThatsWhatImTalkinAboutBill
Honestly I would have watched the full hour of this!
This is what a Canadian diss track sounds like
Leonidas Desert 🤣 You win!
Hopefully, seven months after the time of uploading, Rob doesn't team up with Andrew Huang to make an entire album where every song is written and recorded in one hour each.
*_Wait, he did?_*
This is awesome and hilarious at the sane time. Great Job Rob.
Roomie now has to make a track about how he's a better guitar player than Rob
In less than an hour!
Was expecting metal, got American football
Yeah not shit
The most natural one hour song I've ever heard, you did good man. Also I feel like most people dont let their song go out as raw as you did.
I actually really appreciate the honesty in this video, it helps me remember to be patient with my art
Canadian Softball would like their new single back...
"that sounds awful" still sounds better than anything I've ever done
First of October and Sonic Boom...where it all began!
8:50 "Ok I got 14 minutes Unfortunately it just sounds really sad hahaha" funniest shit ever 😂😂😂
You should do a lyric writing contest for this song. Release the instrumental and let us, your fans, write the melody and lyrics.
John Laycock this would be a lot of fun. You definitely should Rob
Good idea!
John Laycock Nothing will ever top the Roomie diss track!
I legit have "I'm a better singer than Roomie" stuck in my head right now.
Greatest song written in one hour confirmed.
AgentOrangeShoes same here no joke lol
Nickhead87 extra salty today I see...
Nickhead87 lol I'm not the one complaining your the damned liberal, spreading your filth around from thy selfs oral region. Your mouth. Now you pathetic mortal. Taketh your nonsense to a less desirable channel. Rob and his channel as well as his subscribers doesn't deserve it.
Nickhead87 and all your doing is repeating certain things I've said with hyphens to make yourself seem slightly of some degenerative intelligence.....now can you kindly fuck off please.
Nickhead87 I'm not gonna let somebody like you ruin everybody else's fun Weither they post a comment or not..
I can’t believe this was already 2 years ago
Man your work is excellent, don't let yourself fall into those pesimistic thoughts in your head, just remember that you're incredible.
"What did you learn?"
"That I'm not a better singer than Roomie"
Got such a Weezer vibe, definitely from the vocals/lyrics
I thought so too!
The ending vocals especially sounds very Rivers Cuomos-y
Caralho, parece muito hahahaha
I thought if the lead singer of Weezer and the lead singer of Taking Back Sunday had deformed baby man child, this is what it would sound like.
Yeah, sounds a lot like Pinkerton, a little bit of Red Album
i’d love to see one of these as like a collaboration. like, 1 hour to make the song and then send it to a vocalist and they have 1 hour to write and record lyrics.
anyone know what chords he was using? i’m pressed for time so i can’t watch the whole video rn, but i’m curious as to the shape of the chords
This is the perfect ballad for an early 2000's pop punk record. I think they used to come up with those sorts of songs in about that same amount of time. And the quality is similar.
There's a definite Foo Fighters 'Everlong' feel to those chords.
Richard Harrold So true! A lot of Foo Fighters slower songs have those dreamy, floaty maj7 maj9 stuff. maj7 are actually very popular on those songs I mentioned
We're all forgetting the unsung hero of this.... Bill
without the vocals, I'd listen to it.
The vocals makes the song special
Well, dude, there was enough magic in this that when you did the playback of the whole thing, my little baby started doing her rhythmic drumming on the desk, and she usually reserves that for the best of the best. So kudos!
"I got 7 seconds roomie, I guess I'm gonna have to overdub something" -Rob Scallon's dying words
so when did Weezer pick up Rob
Lol
Best part is the dissspearing cat. He just pops up, observes silently judging and leaves.
Dude you're sick! You are one of those people that can make folks say" that little s.o.b." lmao. All joking aside, your an awesome musician. These videos are great!!
Next time you should do a song just improvising, and if you make a mistake you can't re-record it, you have to move to the next instrument
Boa ideia bixo piruleta
*That is what I am speaking of, william*
Bill is short for Billiam
Ulaş Gürsoy Bike is short for Bichael
My friend and i do that shit all the time
*WHAT I JUST PREVIOUSLY REFERENCED IS INDEED THE CURRENT TOPIC OF CONVERSATION, MY FRIEND WHO I ADDRESS WITH THE FIRST NAME OF “WILLIAM”*
Ya know , I know what its like to be in a studio and I had to pay an Hourly price to be there. But if i had this set up I would be in heaven. Just the fact that you have a studio and can just do whatever whenever you want too is awesome. It would be a dream to have a studio in my house and to be able to lay down stuff at any time i wish too. Yeah this song isnt the greatest BUT you did have 1 hour to make it and so I just imagine if you had all the time in the world to do your thing , It could be some amazing stuff to lay down. As a person who gave up on music in the past 10 ish years It was really FUN to watch this man . Thanks for the content and Ill subscribe now and follow.
Dudes! I thoroughly enjoyed this!!!!

Cool, love it so much! more of this 60 min challenge please!
1:28 That sounded really good!! Gosh, this guy is amazing, he can even make good music with just a keyboard!!
Oh, man, it's absolutely amazing!
Love this tiny Spyro :D
Simply beautiful Rob, keep the good work
One of few videos that actually delivered on its promise. Thank you.
11 minutes for lyrics and recording. Still better than Imagine Dragons

Not really, but whatever

9:50 I can't stop laughing!
that looked like a very cool session
Super impressed its catchy. I'm gonna attempt this.
I'm tempted to take this up as a challenge.
You could've written four songs by now
18 songs and counting
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Do it, but do it within 59 minutes. Do basically what Roomie, Andrew, and Boyinaband did with the raps.
I think I might too
The Lead vocal sounds like Stevie T in a hangover day...
Very good! I will try too! It's a great challenge!
This is actually good. Very emotional
Glad I'm not the only one who is ALWAYS going on this ugly Tap Tempo website
Never heard of it!
me neither, technically. i don't even remember its name. i just type "tap tempo" into Google whenever I wanna find it. it is MAD useful.
Why don't you just use the tap tempo built into most DAWs? All of the ones I've ever used had it...
That's what I do, only when I'm recording though
Its called all8.com i think its for square dancing or something lol
Waiting for the isolated vocals in the second channel
To only have an hour to write, sing, record and mix a full song and it turned out this surprisingly good - that takes talent.
this is a very accurate recreation of the whole diy bandcamp scene in general
If you want to hear this idea taken to its extreme, you should check out the "Surfer" EP by NOFX.
One member took a day to himself, wrote each song in 10 minutes, and then the next two days he taught the rest of the band the songs, spending only a few minutes on each. Then they did a few live recordings of each song, saving the best takes (and some of the outtakes).
I'm waiting on "The Vocal Range of Rob Scallon"
The spread of one and a half octaves! So Talented.
The ending of the second verse was hilarious
I have to say I enjoyed the fresh take on the lyrics, it would fit as a bonus last song in an album
This is a Masterpiece in your channel!
Hardest I've laughed in a long time, love this
i love how this sounds exactly like your first albums
that track is gold!
