- Pete Docter is a film director, animator, screenwriter, and voice actor at Pixar Animation Studios. He contributed to the story and characters of Toy Story, Pixar's first full-length animated feature film, and served as the supervising animator for the film. He wrote story treatments for Toy Story 2 and Wall-E and directed Monsters, Inc., Up, and his latest release, Inside Out. He has been nominated for six Academy Awards and won Best Animated Feature Film for Up. Born and raised in Bloomington, MN, he graduated from the California Institute of the Arts where he received a Student Academy Award. In 1990, he was hired as Pixar Studio's third animator and began work on the day following his college graduation.

2001's Monsters Inc was the first Pixar film he directed, 2009's Up was the second, 2015's Inside Out was the third and 2020's Soul is the fourth
I like Pete Docter he's the head of Pixar, he's directed Monsters, Inc. (2001), Up (2009), Inside Out (2015) and he's directing his new film Soul (2020), that's four films he's made, although Docter's never made a sequel, if he makes an Inside Out 2 or not I'll be his first sequel

It was probably advertised that this was happening, and his teachers- likely very proud that they helped teach an Academy Award wining animator- were probably interested in seeing him. At least that’s my guess.
