    That stinks Conestoga was closed. I've been seeing that down more often than not. It was my favorite ride there back in 2018. The airtime was terrifying.

      Definitely unfortunate that it was closed, but that's awesome to hear just how powerful it was. I'll absolutely try to give it a ride whenever I make it back (if it's still there).

    I love the colors on the cars at Cannonball. Might have something with it looking alot like Norways flag 🇳🇴

      Lol, that's as good a reason as any to like the colors! But the red really does pop on the classic white structure.

    Great job pointing out lesser-known parks like Lake Winnie who need support or otherwise they can wind up in the continuing trend of closing up like Conneaut Lake and others.

      Thanks a lot! I feel like the park is in pretty good shape with their local draw, but would certainly appreciate seeing more enthusiasts experience this park and their classic attractions.

    I had no idea where this park was located when I was in Chattanooga last summer and I missed it since I found out too late that it was so close by.
    Had the park been pay per ride or I had been going solo I would’ve went for a few hours.
    Looks like a fun place for what it is and Cannonball and the Boat Chute look like really cool rides. The lake integration as you pointed out also looks outstanding.
    Great vlog!

      Thanks a lot 😀! For the longest time I also didn't realize just how close to Chattanooga the park was; it wasn't until a few friends of mine moved there that I realized it's right in its suburbs. Even without pay per ride, I think there's a lot you can enjoy for the price they offer. Hope you're able to go the next time you find yourself in Chattanooga.

    Interesting, I have never heard anyone compare Knoebel's and Lake Winnie. After watching this video, I can see why. It does have similarities. I have visited the park twice and I always walked away with a Americana/Lesourdsville Lake vibe, complete with the skyride over the lake. I feel like I should hand over my enthusiast card now as I learned in your video that those old mill rides are actually powered by a water mill. No idea why I had never learned that before. Lol. Too bad a lot of the stuff was closed.

      While Knoebels is certainly the better park, Lake Winnie definitely captures that same relaxed, wooded, and quaint vibe that Knoebels has; and that's a vibe that very few parks these days seem to carry. Haha, to be fair, the water mill was pretty hidden from view. It would've been cool to have it set up like Kennywood's or the Iowa State Fair where the mill is in full view of guests to see.

      @SeanFlaharty Год назад

      @@CivilianSatellite ....and all this time I thought Kennywood's mill was just to add to the theming. Lol.

    Interesting fact, the wacky factory and carousal is sitting on/ in the swimming pool in the old days. Not a part of the lake. I love this place!

    • @CivilianSatellite
      @CivilianSatellite  6 месяцев назад

      That's interesting! It felt so cohesive with the lake setting that I wouldn't have guessed it used to be a swimming pool.

    I also live less than a mile from Lake Winnie and I love this Park because of my aunt used to hold Olive Mills picnic every year that is why I live less than a mile from Lake Winnie And I'm going to do it in the memory of my aunt used to work out on a Mills for 35 years and I'm going to do it and I maybe find a job there okay?

      I know this park from the back of my hand and they revive just like Winnie if I was a manager or owner of this park and I will bring back one ride music pop okay?

    Can I please also use a few of the Boat Chute off-ride shots with credit?

      You are welcome to use the footage (and you’d be welcome to the on-ride footage too if that’d be of help as well).

    Bummer the Sky Ride wasn't open on your visit; it offers some really nice views (though it's a bit frightening knowing anything you drop will be lost in the water forever!)
    I'm glad I had the chance to ride the Boat Chute when I visited in 2021, but I totally get why those rides aren't really a thing anymore... it was uninteresting and smelled horrible.

    • @CivilianSatellite
      @CivilianSatellite  Год назад

      I was definitely looking forward to the sky ride, they're probably my favorite transport/scenic style rides. And the location over water is certainly unique. I have a good friend who lives in Chattanooga, so I'll likely be back at some point.
      Haha, yeah, I definitely had my rose colored glasses set to "historic novelty" for the Boat Chute. It's a relic of its time, but I'm glad I rode it; and I'll likely give it a courtesy ride on any return visits.

    Floater air is my favorite kind of air. I can’t wait to get there. The flume shoot looks really cool. I’ve been on the Larson drop tower at Lakeside amusement Park , you can’t tell when you’re going to drop. I loved it. Great video, very relaxing. Thanks for doing it.

    • @CivilianSatellite
      @CivilianSatellite  Год назад +1

      You will definitely love Cannon Ball then! The unknown anticipation of the Larson drop towers truly is what makes them some of the best of their kind. I do like the one at Lakeside a bit better as that drop feels a bit more abrupt, but the one at Lake Winnie has a comically quick deceleration. Thanks a lot! 😀

    I occasionally go onto the ‘used rides’ sites (like any normal amusement park nerd lol) for the sake of curiosity. As of 2022, at least, I can verify that Lake Winnie’s Fly-O-Plane is listed for sale, which quashes any rumors that it was scrapped entirely. So perhaps one day we will see it fly again?
    Sidebar: the lift-hill to the Boat Chute is giving off serious Arrow vibes.

    • @CivilianSatellite
      @CivilianSatellite  Год назад

      That's encouraging! I remember the rumor a few years ago was that Lake Winnie was planning to bring it back at some point. I'm sure the fact that there was an accident on it would probably make it kind of difficult to sell. Definitely hope we see it return.
      Considering the Boat Chute predates Arrow coasters by almost 30 years, perhaps they got some inspiration there. Although I'm sure most Arrow coasters do not require a big stick to occasionally realign the ride with anti-rollbacks lol.

    But if I was the owner of lake Winnie when I was a kid I used to go there every other day but they took out the music pop out of the park but I will have it back if I was the owner of lake Winnie you know why I mean?

      It's always a bummer seeing a ride you enjoy leave the park. I am unfamiliar with the park's ride history, what kind of ride was it that they removed?
