I worked in several upscale restaurants. I now hate people. One evening, I approached this lovely older couple. They ordered two martinis to begin. They wanted them each to have a drop of Scotch(they said it made them "dry-er"). I watched as the bartender made them exactly as ordered. I brought them to the table. They tasted them and turned vicious, saying that the order was wrong. I offered to redo them. What I actually did was to take them back to the bar, wait a minute and bring them back to the couple who, then, pronounced them as "perfect!". Nothing had been done. I just "had their number". After several years in the business I began to hate people. I don't like going to restaurants, either. When I say I hate people, I'm referring to certain portions of the dining public. I'm retired now but, only go to restaurants with take out. Blah, blah, blah! Sorry for going on. People sometimes just go to restaurants looking for a fight.
I am extremely fortunate to have grown up experiencing fine dining and my parents instilled in me respect for servers and restaurant staff. We tip very well, something women are not always good about, and we have wonderful relationships with the folks where we eat. We had a server say a prayer for my mum when she broke her hip. So sweet. Be kind. Folks are working. Just making a living. Be kind.
When was the last time this couple went out to eat at a restaurant and paid with a credit card? Merchant copies and customer copies have been standard practice in the service industry for at least 20 years.
You never reward bad behavior because it encourages them to keep doing it. They think damn I just got a free meal, I should do that more often.
I love seeing posts from managers like her who don't do that. I appreciate her for setting a good example
It makes me so mad. We shouldn’t do it
So, he understood that he wasn't double charged, and still asked for his money back?! 🤣
