I wouldn’t be suspicious of the paperwork not being filled out completely or even correctly. I was in the USAF for 12 years 1995-2007, and in 1995 you could buy a Datejust at the BX on base for about $1300. The jewelry section of these stores isn’t staffed by professional watch sales people. It’s almost like getting something “issued” to you lol. My Marathon automatic came in a brown cardboard box inside a clear plastic bag lol.
At that time they were a tool watch , not a fashion accessory , or a "luxury" item , and while not cheap , they were relatively affordable . The reason that the paperwork was not filled in was probably because it was purchased from the base PX store where he was stationed and not an Authorised Dealer .
Not gonna lie, the branch joke had me in stitches. I'm going through a really tough time in life, and I really needed that. Nearly spat my tea. Thank you so much for that.

Just so you know the reason the paperwork isn’t completely filled out is because he bought it overseas at a military PX not a Rolex dealer. It’s not uncommon for the paperwork to not be filled out, because you aren’t buying from a dealer who knows what to fill out and what not. It’s like going to a department store and just picking a Casio off the rack.
To be fair.. he bought it in a PX. Store inside of a military base. And those people have zero idea of how to fill out paperwork. So he most likely got everything in a bundle and sent on his way. Happened to me.
You triggered my nerd button: one of the first things we learn about Dumbledore is that he's into pocket watches, but I guess the Daytona was for his fighting days
Currently still serving in the military I can verify with absolute certainty the post exchange does not handle or process fine watches as if a jewelry store would. They can be bought at a solid discount, tax free and are sold with the care and caution as a pair of $20 sunglasses. Facts
7:45 what Nico says here is hilarious because I would never sit and watch a video about wristwatches but with Nico's sense of humor this becomes 100x more entertaining to watch 😂
Veteran and have no doubts about the blank guarantee. Even omega sells at our base exchange and comes with all factory box and warranty card (most being blank unless the sales clerk fills out the date of sale and store...which you can probably ask her to not write anything on the card..)But have no doubt base/military exchange personnel who sold him the watch, as Rolex use to sell at military exchanges like omega still does, just didn’t fill out the blank warranty card because they’re more concerned about just making sure the receipt and payment are processed.
Not unusual for blank paperwork to come with some of these older watches sold to US military. Often these watches were not sold at some authorized dealer like nowadays. Back then it was not uncommon for watches and other civilian goods to be sold at the military bases from the supply trucks. In those instances it was not rare for OEM paperwork to simply be left blank since the GI responsible for tallying the sold merchandise didn’t care to fill out all the specific paperwork for the multitude of different items which would be sold. Rolex was still just a watch back then and not the hyper-luxury symbol it is today
When I was a boy (1970s) Rolex could be purchased from many of the better jewelry stores. In 1974 a Datejust could be had new in box for around $200 (about $850 when adjusted for inflation). It was expensive but not made out of unobtainium like the current Rolex offerings.
The warranty paper not being filled isn't that much of an issue as stores would take your word for it even if you showed them the blank paper. Most often you'd go to the store you bought it from to get it repaired and they'd just check their own receipt to fill out the warranty. This is still a common practice outside the US and some other countries. I know my dad bought a Rado and the store didn't fill in the warranty paper, just asked him to show the receipt if something ever went wrong
The first watch having clean papers make sense tho. He said he ordered it through the military so he didn't go by himself to an AD, so I'm guessing whoever gets the military mail or things that deployed personal order got it for him from an AD and didn't get the paper filled. As for the fall the guy looks like a hipster so also kinda makes sense too.
