@ oh alr cuz im 16 and planning on reading it and my sisters 12 and she’s read it loads of times but i dont know if its like a teen version of the book cuz it has like Ariana grande and Cynthia on the front and the only thing she said she’s seen in it is a bit of swearing and kissing
My husband bought me this series nearly 10 years ago. Never touched them. We recently moved and while unpacking I found the series. I cannot put Wicked down. I love it. I also am highlighting. It strikes as relevant to the issues facing us today. Honestly, it confirms that very often humans and humanity is an oxymoron. My heart goes out to Elphaba and every child that is shunned. I have never seen the play. I wish I could find a book club that was reading this because the discussions regarding the plot would be most thought provoking. Thank you for your wonderful video. Your look was classy in my opinion, love the hair, but no I did not get Elphaba vibes. I subscribed today.
I just finished this book and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! I found myself so frustrated by Elphaba, probably because I related to her in ways that I didn’t want to, but she is such a nuanced, complicated character, as are ALL the characters, which is actually quite refreshing. The nuances between good and evil… such a fun, interesting read… very different from the musical, which I saw in London in high school with the OG cast of classical actors, who played their parts to perfection… is easier to digest, but less fulfilling. The book is just fantastic, and I’m glad to see I’m not alone in that feeling ❤️
@@stephanieluminous3116 Thanks for your comment 😊 I’m glad to know you felt the same way about the book! It’s very good and one of my favorites! definitely.
This is the best review I see for one of my favorite books growing up. Also, totally got the look you were going for immediately, inspired stuff. Really digging this stuff, sige adelante!
Hello Kari, I liked a lot your review. The look was practically perfectly clear since the beginning of your review. Thanks for your video. I liked it. Actually I was looking for something related becasuse I'm planning to upload a video with the summary of the Musical Version :) I took some notes when I saw it and I will upload it soon in my channel :) Nevertheless, I liked what you prepared!
Back story and world building isn't important in the 14 Baum books. The characters are young and stay young so they don't have an life story. Oz is not explained because it is a mystery land in all the books. They are just fun stories about Dorothy and her friends' adventures. The first book was the darkest of the series
I definitely agree with you Kari! I recently just discovered the wicked years series and I just read Wicked! After reading Elphaba’s story both of this one and the wizard of oz connect as if this is how it was supposed to be.I can’t wait to see the movie version of this very soon as it comes out on November 21 st!❤️
I am appalled by the Wicked series. When my daughter was in middle school, she read, and loved all the original L.Frank Baum series. I made the horrible mistake of thinking Wicked was young adult fiction and would be like the musical. Nope. I can’t believe I bought this book for my child. She’s 27, now, and we are watching a thorough description review. Thank God, she didn’t like the book and didn’t understand the parts like the animal orgy in stage, (philosophers club) or any of the rest of the disgusting topics eek
Ive read this 14 times! It is so nice to hear from someone else these days that loves the book.
Have you read the sequel books to it
What would you say the age rating is?
@@PandoraGamingxI would say adult. It is very sexualized in a dark way to include some animal/human scenes

Nice review. FYI - Wicked book inception/ background included in new Margaret Hamilton bio: Margaret Hamilton From Cleveland ohio to the Land of Oz
my brother also got mine for me 😊
thank you for doing the review of Wicked the life and times of the wicked witch
It's a great read I feel for elphaba 👍
So there is the movie of Wicked Part 1
2024
Would you recommend reading the Wizard of Oz first before this?
@@Abcdefg1394 Yes, definitely. I read it before Wicked and I think that adds more to the experience 😊
Some wizard of oz fans think that the classic should have been left alone.

@@mlizzaklizza498 You’re appalled because you bought your child an adult book without making sure it was appropriate for a child? Um. Okay?
