VERY Interesting!! As a Woodland Mills HM130max owner I absolutely love their product! And as you said their customer service is impeccable! Awesome video! Thank you for this!
I bought one and I contacted this guy. Everything he said was as it was. He even checked my order for me. It took me 4 to 6 weeks and it came as he said. It was brought by act Cooper. I picked it up at the trucking company because where I live no one would want to bring a truck. But company is legit
As a Woodland Mills owner, I have been extremely satisfied with our HM-126 sawmill. I do think that a lot, maybe most, of the products we purchase from offshore companies do share components and engineering. I haven't seen the Mechmaxx sawmill up close and personal, but from your video it looks as though the sawhead frame components might be a little lighter duty on the Mechmaxx. Like you said, there needs to be differences here and there to help offset the cost variance. But the biggest one by far, to me anyway, is the engine that powers the mill. I can run 5 miles down the road to my local Kohler dealer, and pick up what I need, even to the point of getting warranty repair. That's a pretty substantial difference right there, vs. some of the "clone" powerplants.
Those welded stops on the MechMaxx is a good idea. I might be adding them to my Woodland Mills. If the bunks are interchangeable than move them around so at least the first bunk has the stop. You could also put the greens bunks at the end as most logs won’t be 16’.
As a Canadian who purchased a Woodland Mills WC46 Chipper, I can say that Woodland Mills offers excellent customer service and customer support. If my WC46 needs a part, my downtime will be as short as possible. My only issue with Woodland Mills was that they shipped and delivered my chipper quicker than I imagined. I really was not ready to receive the product so quickly. They are faster than Amazon when it comes to getting something out the door and on a truck. Great video - It will be interesting to see what you think of the different styles of log dogs. Have a safe day cutting.
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead BTW - I am very impressed with the Sawmill Shed! Once the Olympics are over, we should have live broadcasts from the Sawmill Shed.
Lucas: good honest appraisal of both products. I was wondering when you were going to get the extension. Nice point about the height of the bars that stop the log from rolling off the mill. Thanks again for your input. Take care and stay safe.
Mine arrives tomorrow. I didn't see the discount until after. 🤷. However, I decided based on the reviews, and what appears to be a quality build. Especially the framing around the motor and cutting heads. It appears as twisting has been pretty much eliminated vs what I've seen from other manufacturers designs. Some only had 2 legs as this one has 4.
Good video on comparison, I did not know parts were interchangeable. Are the parts all from China? Thanks too for showing the various parts and how the stack up sided by side. We have 200 acres, the majority is oak, hickory, a little cherry and the treasured black walnut. My neighbor just bought a sawmill and getting it under cover now I hope to get logs to shortly. I make cutting boards, trivets and other wooden items, besides the normal need for dimensional lumber, from the wood.
Yeah, I think at least the majority of the parts from those brands (and other well know brands) are manufactured in China. I don’t the specifics. I don’t know how many parts are interchangeable, but I thought it would be interesting to start with the main parts and find out. 🤷🏼♂️
@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead Most of the time that I've been on their website, it's been free shipping with lift gate. That in itself is a couple hundred in savings.
the track extension from woodland mills is 6' and the mechmaxx is only 36" that is one reason why it is 30% more expencive and your red sawmill is not available in Australia and woodland is just the same as in canada
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead so far so good but have to do blade tension and alignment. I noticed once you tighten t handle and rotate handle the belt seems to be egg shape. I assume thats normal
Good morning, I have a couple of Woodland Mills products and have had zero problems. I watch all your videos and have to say I did not like this video and its message about Woodland Mills. I understand you need to promote the product however in my opinion it should be done without bashing another brand.
I don’t think you actually listened to what I said. Go watch again. I never say one negative thing about Woodland Mills. Because I like the brand and what they stand for. The truth is, they charge more money for a comparable product because they provide top notch support, warranty, and customer service. 🤷🏼♂️ No apologies here. I do really appreciate you watching my videos and mean no disrespect. We just see this differently. 👊

Totally agree. The good news is Mechmaxx has switched over and is putting Kohler engines on their new mills.
Thanks for watching! Happy milling!

I've got no complaints on the Mechmaxx SG24. That grinder is awesome. Used it every week since I got it.
Right on! 👊
Been curious about this comparison - thanks!
I hated to spend the money to try it not knowing for sure, but curiosity got the best of me. 😂

If we can make that discount a 10% ill order 32" tomorrow
Was looking at the Mechmaxx PTO stump grinder and / or flail mower
I haven’t gotten to use either of those products, but I would figure the story is the same…. Quality product, Slower delivery at a lower price.

@@qconard Yes, it cost me $200 for the shipping on the WM extension...
How is the "paint",compared between the extensions?(think i noticed a chip on the orange bunk)
Thanks for your videos!
There are some chips on the bunks, but the woodland mills paint seems pretty comparable…
Have you tried any other woodland mills parts like the automated watering system
I haven’t but I think it would be a pretty simple conversion. I went a different route and installed an electric solenoid and switch. It works great!
I was shocked when we called woodland mills we didn't spend time on hold and the person spoke good English
Yeah, I always hear good things about Woodland Mills customer service.

I’m not sure what led you to believe that, but it isn’t true. I have an extension from MechMaxx too. It is also 6’.
Also, MechMaxx is free shipping so total cost is $299 while woodland mills cost $644 to my door. That’s more than twice the price.
Both products originated in China? I wonder if a 28" stump grinder is coming.
I don’t know on the grinder, but yes they both originate from China…
Nice video, good info. I personally would like the pointy log stop better than the flat . and nice looking hat🪵
It is a nice hat. 👊
I got the 32 in mechmaxx thru you. The manual is very poor. So small-very hard to read and poor quality info and pics. I hope they fix this problem.
Did you get yours assembled ok?
