  • I needed a thin parting tool so I made a homemade thin parting tool for my woodturning projects in 5 minutes. Check out the video.
You probably already have it in your shop. I hope this video helps you out. Thanks for watching.

I love the idea. I also have a sliding t bevel that I have not used in at least 10 years 😅

Been looking for parting tools on line then I came across your video! I was excited because I have the same bevel tool and after I added the smaller bevel it worked perfectly!! Thanks so much, Sid! New subscriber!!

Great tip. I have been wanting a thin parting tool but didn't want to spend a fortune. Why the 2 offset bevels?

Nice idea Sid. For me, the bonus is I can still use it as a bevel gauge. Thanks for sharing🙏 Stay safe. -Mike😷

Nice idea!! I have one of those aswell. But with a plastic handle an I never use it. I'm going to give it a try, an if I like it make a wood handle for it. Thanks for sharing!

I’d be surprised if that wasn’t carbon steel instead of something hardened like HSS or M2

Hi Sid, Great video. I have exactly the same tool which I have never used either. I won't be converting it though as it was my fathers when he was alive. Take care Sid. Cheers, Huw

I have a couple tools from my grandfather. I never use them either. It's nice to have something to remember.

@@Sidswoodworkingprojects 👍 I had nearly all of my father's tools, as my brother doesn't anything like I do, and I use most of them.

I'm pretty rough with my tools and don't want to break them
