Tess of the d'Urbervilles perfectly portrays the hipocracy of society. She did nothing wrong. She was the victim of rape and she was the one being molested and somehow that still reflects badly on her. And in the end she's killed for getting rid of a monster. I do think that Angel was a bit cruel to leave her after she confessed but he shouldn't be compared to Alec d'Urberville, to me that's like comparing a thief to a murderer. Although I found the book ridicolously hard to understand in the beginning I quite loved it.
Angel and people like him who ostracize victims and act as though they have purity of soul simply because their circumstances are better allow people like Alec to go unchecked. You are as evil in doing nothing to stop evil as the one who commits the evil. It's not a thief vs murderer situation. It's a rapist and the others who let his actions be unaccounted for.
It really helps to sound intelligent when you have a British accent.. lol! Don't get me wrong, he is very smart, but the accent really does contribute!
i loved pillars of the earth! that might have been one of my favorite roles of his! i (personally) thought it was even better than his role in Tess. because his character gets more screen time and he has a deeper back story. and theres no exact part where you to bludgeon him to death with a rolling pin. not in a comical way, like tom and jerry. I mean in a scary way, that would splinter his bones and splatter his blood across the walls. in tess i wanted to. when he leaves her without a kiss :(
I LOVE YOU SOO MUCH EDDIE!!! HAPPY 31st BIRTHDAY!!!!! I HOPE IT'S A GREAT ONE BECAUSE YOU TOTALLY DESERVE IT!!!!!! (btw I currently have over 640 pics of you on my iPod!). PLEASE NOTICE ME!!!!
i don´t like Angel. Eddy Redmayne is ok. He is a real hypocrite. I don't doubt his love for Tess, it was obvious that he loved her with all his soul. But his religious academic background only made that love filled with doubt. He was not a man with enough guts, Tess needed one to help her cope with the depression, the tragedy that her life had become.
He is so articulate and intelligent!!! Glad to know some actors are smart and talented!
