For our 24 hour layover, we got an amazing discount on a 5 star hotel called Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli. A stunning hotel that we can't recommend enough. They also had the best bed we have ever slept in! What made this hotel even better was its location within the Souq Al Wakra. You cannot visit this place without walking around the souq at night.

Other than that, we spent a few hours walking around the Expo 2023 Doha Qatar. Sadly, the different expositions were not completed and most of them were still closed. Something else to keep in mind, the expo is open but completely quiet during the day. No music, no shows, no entertainment. We are convinced that this expo will be amazing but going on it's 8th day was apparently too early. The Doha expo will be running until March 2024.
Finally, we had to visit the Mall of Qatar, the largest one in the country. Don't get me wrong, a mall is a mall and I would normally tell people to shop at home not while traveling but mall are truly part of the Middle Eastern culture these days and when it is close to 45 degrees Celsius outside, any place with A/C feels amazing!

Holy sh!t!!!! Hubby and I stayed at Souq Al Wakra two weeks ago. We extended our day and were in Qatar for 2 days. As a woman, I love, love, love the country. Super safe, no weird scamming.
Qatar is for sure at the top of the list in terms of safety. Very nice to walk around even at night.

You guys travel a lot. Hence, this you should give you opinion on the JKIA issues from customs to others
Fair enough. Here are my thoughts, JKIA is the door for Kenya for the world. It needs a big reimagining both on the astatic side but also operation side. It is not normal that most planes are not able to connect directly to the airport even when the airport is empty. The airport also needs more staff and more lines. The new terminal only has 4 custom booths and I have never seen more than 3 agents there even at peek time. Same for security.
This airport has to be a wow factor and a good experience for first timers!
