arthinugami there are several great movies about Zulu victories and attacks on the British. Now while I always love the story of The Golden Stool and of course appreciate the Asante making the list as a symbolic victory I have to drop a tiny critique. In those Anglo Asante Wars, the first war fought about 75 years before the Golden Stool, Asante obliterated the British in the Battle of Nsamankow. Great battle that involves Asante Warriors taking the head of a British General and eating his heart (I’m working on a book on this) IJS Asante have a Zulu-like victory well before the Zulu had it, but great video all together!
And mind you the Ashantis weren't barbarians or anything, they were very civilized in their society. But is was done to send a message to the British on the coast not to come in-land again
I love the Rozvi stories especially works by N.M Mutasa on their decline and later on how they dealt with early Nguni incursions at their weakest point and it briefs you on how serious they were to be taken

It's worth noting that the Battle of Adwa is a great example of a "Defeat in Detail". Emperor Menelik's expert use of the terrain and spies to keep tabs on the Italian force allowed him to choose his moment perfectly. When he attacked, the Italian force was spread out over a large area and were unable to mount an effective defence. Had Menelik attacked when the Italian army was united he would still probably have won the battle, but at a horrific cost. By attacking the Italian brigades separately he was able minimize his losses and press his army's advantage in numbers. Menelik's army suffered heavy casualties (as can be expected of any frontal assault during the time period) but had the advantage of superior numbers and was able to keep up the momentum despite losses. The Italian brigades were unable to support each other allowing Menelik complete control of the battlefield and to take the Italians apart piece by piece. When all was done, he had driven the Italians out of Ethiopia and preserved Ethiopian independence.
They seem to forget the lesson after the First World War. Many of the mistakes made by the Italian High Command would be repeated during the Second World War, largely due to Mussolini and his Fascists interfering with military affairs (and overestimating the strength of their under-equipped military).

The Cushite and Egyptian civilizations were one of the oldest in Biblical times. Unlike the Egyptian counterparts the Cushites civilizations was just as badass minus the pyramid thing.
@@Shortyjored88 Actually, the Kushite kingdoms in Nubia also had the practice of pyramids. They actually had more pyramids (255) compared to ancient Egypt (118). Granted the Egyptian ones were waaay bigger.
The Kushite group of Oromo, walked a minimum of 800km north to Adwa to defeat the Italians. Menelik's groups had guns but the Oromos used their cavalry to annihilate the Italians. However, in history books, they're called 'Abbysiynian' warriors. Kushites are definitely people you don't want to mess with. Especially those Nubian archers in Sudan.
Ancient Egypt had one of the greatest armies in Africa, for Egypt was one of the few African nations who led expeditions outside of Africa and conquered none Africans on their own soils. Egypt has conquered the middle east more times than the middle east conquered Egypt.
The Ajuran empire was not the only Somali western fights. In my opinion its the Dervish army that fought the British which ended with the British using Air Strikes for the first time in Africa.

Then you should learn history, the Zulu like the British were colonial abusers and butchers. To this day, many African tribes despise the Zulu… besides they got dealt with in the end by the native natal, and British forces 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@@LennyMadona-jm8yq bro I’m aware of the history of both the Native Americans and the Zulu as well as other African tribes and kingdoms 😂😂😂😂😂 the tribes that fought in the little bighorn where (to be blunt) bloodthirsty savages, as well as the Zulu if it wasn’t for the input of the British the Zulu would have fucked South Africa beyond repair, same with the US solders with the souix, Cheyenne/arapaho, Kiowa, etc. the native Americans actually attacked tribes on reservations the Zulu If given the chance would have as well, im African American 2 of my family members were buffalo solders that fought the souix (I am a mix of different ethnic groups within Africa but most of my ancestors were the Dahomey so I believe me when I say I know what unchecked brutality is) and I could argue that European colonization is one of the best things to ever happen to this world. Yes Europe has done some bad things to indigenous peoples, and a lot of the time it was looked down upon by the European/American public but that’s nothing compared to what the indigenous people in America, Africa, and the south pacific not only did but celebrated. I was just making a comparison
I love you thank you!!!! and thanks for putting congo i always knew we were one with angolians its just colonization and tribalism that separated us,but am surprised you did not put Kenya they did fight the british too very powerfully with the mai mai.and to this day Ethiopians are proud because they were never colonized
You forgot Lubwe the Great! He had strong army which Europeans failed to conquer his kingdom until they Europeans bribed some of his soldiers by promising them kingdom. The corrupt soldiers killed Lubwe. His kingdom was in part of Northern Zambia and South East DRC. In remembrance of This king, mission hospital was built in his honor. Lubwe mission in Zambia.
Ethiopia comprised of all east Africa, queen nyabingi of Toro uganda sent an army to fight the Italians off, etesots from uganda moved from abisinia that was a small kingdom about 3000+ years ago what does that make them, look up maps of 1500 then u will know what am talking about
No one invade Ethiopia except Italy and conquered whole Ethiopia but the rest of European countries gave Ethiopia break because they were only Christin country in Africa. British French and Portuguese never invade Ethiopia but invade Somalia because they were Muslims. Ethiopia study fake history

Thank you so much for everything man. I just want to say that African History is the best history! It is just so sad that African victories over colonizers aren't mentioned and considered significant when they should be! And something I'd like to add is that Emperor Menelik shouldn't get all the credit. His wife, Empress Tayitu led her own contingent at the battle in Mekelle, and it was her who devised the plan that made the Italians surrender at Mekelle.
"until the lion writes their own history, the story of the hunt will always glorify the hunter" perfect description of how African history has been overlooked to glorify European colonial oppressors
🤣🤣🤣 because the Europeans won wars…… small battle victories are not distortions of history, the Europeans taught you lessons and still do today, with your education and technology advancements.. Don’t hate superior people for your lack of understanding or education
@@LennyMadona-jm8yq europeans got their asses kicked all the time lmao. Most of Europe was nothing throughout most of history lol. You got r@ped by mongols, taken out of the dark ages by North africans, etc, don't talk about "winning wars" against declining/weakened/unstable non European civilisations. Remember, europe wouldn't even barely be 1/3 of what it is now without African and asian influence.
I am ajuuran and the battle with Portuguese costed them to loose most of their territory in east Africa all the way to Zanzibar islands until they gained it again latter on, they tried to invade the Adal empire in north Somalia with Ethiopian help, but were defeated by Adal and Othaman empire alliance, that’s why somalis and Turks are modern day best friends

These are facts that you don't learn in school!
I loved it!!! Keep up the teaching.
Another masterpiece Brother
Great work brothers..Excellent..

Not only South Africa so ignorant Congo Angola Rwanda ???
Ancient Egypt had one of the greatest armies in Africa, for Egypt was one of the few African nations who led expeditions outside of Africa and conquered none Africans on their own soils. Egypt has conquered the middle east more times than the middle east conquered Egypt.
Good history video, keep up the good work, thanks!!
The Ajuran empire was not the only Somali western fights. In my opinion its the Dervish army that fought the British which ended with the British using Air Strikes for the first time in Africa.
Great information thanks
Ancient Mali wow I want learn More about these Battles West African Boats were Dope about Ancient Benin you miss them I think Man its so much we have to Learn About Ancient Africa Military History So Incredible

Ajuran 🇸🇴, Adal 🇸🇴, Darvishes 🇸🇴 all defeated European powers in major wars
The adal sultanate had the help of their masters the ottoman colonisers. So it's not impressive.

The Rozvi Empire-The Destroyers!!! I'm blessed to be from their tribe!

I will forever recognize isandlwana as the African littlebig horn
I was just making a comparison
thanks sir you are nice guy and brilliant
Somalia/ Adal Empire vs Ajuran Empire 🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴
Ethiopia has to be number one
Soraya How
He's also not included the Mau Mau Uprising.
Mr Football true but Ethiopia were ruled by Christians Egypt and Sudan were ruled by Muslims
Won’t take this channel 100% serious till I see some sources! Fellow Africans in the comments section, we should always demand the best from each other. That’s how we rise up. Post your sources in the description Home Team.
Thank you so much for your African scholarship! This is so needed. Where are you finding this information? I need books!
What is your nationality?
Wasn’t there like an ancient African army that used elephants and animals to corner foreigners
We need some Netflix originals. So many stories to tell
I’m honored to be a Kushite descent
I can only imagine what would happen if these Africans fought together.
Awesome, thanks bro.
Nice video man. I think we are like the only 2 people on RUclips who discuss pre-colonial African warfare. I just recently uploaded one on strategy and tactics. You should check it out.
From Nothing you might be right...appreciate that. Will definitely check it out.
🇪🇹🇪🇹🇪🇹❤️✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
My respect for the Portuguese went down terribly
You must make something on donso hunters of mandinka people. They are the deepest spirit behind the Malian Empire. People need to know them and their legacy.
I'm extremely grateful not to be European. I am black and extremely glad to be black.
Powerful Information
Great history lesson.
