    No AC, no way! Love it! There is so much to learn about boondocking and using A/C. We are boondocking next weekend, we will see how it goes. Nice job, Confers!

      The solar is great for a lot of things, but not the AC. We have learned a lot through this experience for sure. I’m happy to have the generator to substitute what the solar can’t handle. Thanks for watching!

    A generator sounds like a must have. Informative episode. Thanks!

      Yeah we feel like the generator is a must have for sure. You really need that safety net unless you are always going to be in places like AZ. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts with us. We enjoy watching where your trail takes you next! Safe travels! - Mike and Shelley

    Wow that a hard learning curve. Very informative. Wish you had enough battery to run AC. Glad you have generator. Look forward to more videos on your solar system.

      Yeah we definitely need to beef up our batteries to be able to run the AC. If we camp in more moderate temp this system is just fine. We need to chase 70 degrees! Thanks for hanging out with us! Stay safe - Mike and Shelley

    Hello to you Mrs. Shelley/Mr. Mike and special guest Elena 👋🏾.. Well this camping trip had some interesting "Parts" to it.. Following the 🌞 a pinch of 🌈 and a huge amount of inverter drama..Maybe not huge but a slight amount of inverter drama .. Thank goodness for reset mode.. Until your next video 👋🏾❤️🙂

      Glad we got the inverter figured out because we have more to come! It was so nice to have our daughter on this trip- it doesn’t happen very often these days. Thanks for your support as always Ms Janice. Hope you are doing welll. Stay safe! - Mike and Shelley

    With complexity can come complex issues. Good to hear that the inverter is good and good to know about the battery "run down" issue.

      We are slowly but surely getting this thing figured out! We need to make a plan for Hershey!

    Hi guys !! Gosh stuck for two weeks. Some times we have to run our engine 🙄 to power our leisure battery. Sorry you didn’t have enough power for the AC
    We love your US state stickers.
    Awesome video, enjoyed it a lot.
    All the best Chelsea and Mike

      Hey there Chelsea and Mike! Yep we have to resort to the generator but we really wanted to see if we could go with out it. Where are you guys headed next?

    A rainbow!! OH NO! Thanks for the lesson on simple Christmas lights. Great advice about charging all the things ahead of time. If it is 71 degrees outside, why would you not just open windows? That seems like pretty mild temperatures. Or was this just meant as a test on what different things draw on the battery? Yay! New York, CHECK! Uh oh about the inverter. We had our converter fail on us and had to replace it. Glad it was just a matter of a re-set. - Jim & Michelle

      The RV heats up quick! It was 71 in the morning at it was already 76 and rising in the camper with the windows open! It got up in the 90s outside. Not using our generator was just to test what we could get out of the batteries and solar. We ended up using the generator though. Thanks for your support! - Mike and Shelley

    Just getting caught up on videos...... Not sure if we could do No A/C. We have 2 lithium batteries but haven't done the inverter yet. That's a bit down the line for us. Great information!! Stay safe!!

      Hey there! Look like you had some much loved time with that grand baby! Yeah the inverter makes all the difference! Luckily we the generator to still run the AC for now. Safe travels! - Mike and Shelley

    Mike why are you reluctant to use your generator during cloudy days? That's what it's for to keep your batteries charged up for night time electricity

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  5 месяцев назад

      I’m not reluctant, I set a goal for myself to not use it and wanted to see if we could conserve enough to make it that long. We use the generator on a regular while out and about. Just wanted to see if we could do it.

    That’s why you have a 2200 inverter generator

      We have a 4500 inverter generator. We just try our best to not run it unless we have to.

    What batteries and what size solar panels

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  2 месяца назад

      We have 6 100ah lithium batteries. (We are slowly adding on as we go). We have used 3 different brands of batteries and have noticed that price point does not mean quality in our opinion. We have 2 from Renogy that are $500 each that work the same as the Redodo and WattCycle brands that are about half that price. For the solar panels, we have 3 200 watt panels and 1 100 watt panel charging the batteries. Our next upgrade will be to add panels. The rule of thumb is to double your battery amp hours with solar. Example. We have 600ah of battery so we need 1200 watts of solar to charge them back to close to 100% on a good sunny day.

    I need my ac

  • @toddramsay977
    @toddramsay977 4 месяца назад +1

    No, you have to have a 1000ah bank with at least a 760 or 800 watt solar up top, to run a a/c for 6 hrs. That is a 12v a/c too.

    • @campinwiththeconfers
      @campinwiththeconfers  4 месяца назад

      We have a way to go to get to those numbers. We have 700 watts of solar but only 200ah (for now we have another 100 in the shed we haven’t put in yet) of battery. It will come in time.

      True story. 76 is hot for sleeping when you’ve been spoiled with AC. I would rather be hot than cold though! Thanks for sharing, we really appreciate it. Since you are south- if you are in an rv, does your AC keep up?
