I had the same learning to do in my years at music college. Ultimately it leads to an instant communication to your instrument. You get what you want is the best way to put it. Thank you for letting us participate in your musical journey.
Alma, in terms of movement at the piano, be sure to watch lots of videos of the old generation: Horowitz, Rubinstein, Backhaus, Kempff, Arrau, Michelangeli, Richter, Gilels, and so on. Pollini, too, and Brendel and Gulda and Argerich. They all knew the secret to movement that is geared entirely to enhancing the intended artistic effect. Sparse, efficient, non-distracting. You now you're seeing work being done, and nothing else. With many younger pianists, you get a lot of motion that is either for show or obviously pointless (especially arm and wrist motions that are intended to soften and smooth out the piano sound, something the people I just listed never tried to do), or both. Especially good is that very short video where Horowitz explains that he never makes exaggerated motions or gestures because everything that's inside of him goes through the fingers into the sound. The same is true for violinists. Elman, Heifetz, Milstein, Oistrakh, Ricci, Szeryng, Haendel - they look entirely workmanlike when they play. No show, no emotional display, unlike many current players. Hilary Hahn, blessedly, continues this tradition of efficiency and modesty of outward display.
And, really, watching this...I realize Alma has TRUE HUMILITY and knows her (few) limits. Learning to understand HOW to work with a full orchestra, and the psychology of the "group", which include the matter of sounding out other peoples reaction times, and PERCEPTIONS, is not realized "overnight" (now in Alma's case, maybe in a YEAR?!!) Can you imagine what I'd be willing to PAY to go to a concert of the Minnesota Orchestra (in my "home town") if Alma was guest conductor for a night??? Probably not happening in the "near future", but I can imagine, say 2029 or 2035, by that time she will be like a Seiji Ozawa or an Eugene Ormandy, or...well you get the idea.

Ita sad really. One can see she's been really wrapped up in cotton wool. Closeted from the outside world etc. Raised in a possibly Victorian type era. Looks a cross between uk prime minister liz truss and Greta thunberg 😂😂😂 Good party trick pianist composing on the fly but never any depth
She is talking to us as if we all ate two year olds? with patronising intonation. Well, any international piano or violin competitions now out of reach. so hugely talented...

I would love to get more information! Perhaps some examples as to what it means to "get what you want" in conducting, etc.
it probably means making the players play the piece like she hears it in her head.

Thank you. I am not a musician; but, getting your insight helps me to understand some.

Are you kidding? You cannot play piano...
@@MishaSkripach ok
@@MishaSkripach honestly, I've performed performances that were truly worthy of derision. I think you're being silly, coming after me about this.
@@jeremyburns495 You really cannot play, it is bad quality amateurish playing, no competition will take this on, be realistic.
Interesting! Sort of a reverse endorsement.
