His phenomenal body of work is known for its innovative and captivating music, inspiring lyrics and heartfelt rendition. He worked with almost all the lyricist of film Industry during his musical journey. Here we are sharing his collaboration with lyricist Javed Akhtar and remembering him on his birth anniversary.

R.D.Burman is very popular in Sri Lanka. Most of Sri Lankans love his performance in the films like Hare Rama Hare Krishna, The Train, Kati Patang, Caravan, Apna Desh, Rampur ka Lakshman etc.... He is my favourite too...

@Viki M he directed 331 songs in his life time and out of them only 23 known as copied.. the rest all were of the most evergreen songs of Indian music .. The songs like Meri bheegi bheegi is still today the best sad songs in Indian History.

Same here....we were blessed to be born in his Era.
I was 9 when i heard pancham' s music in teesari manzil that was actually magic that just got me go berserk !! He was my first favourite composer that stayed in in my heart till his death . I have heard all his compositions with rapt attention ... and all moods - sad , comical, romantic , sexy , cabaret, picnic, party , disco, were seeped in my heart through his wonderful music.... baharon ke sapne ,hare rama hare Krishna, kati patang, , amar prem , parichay ,aandhi , mere jeewan sathi , apna desh, caravan , hum kisi se kum nahin, masoom , ijazat , satte pe satta or rocky , love story , shalimar, kudrat , sagar , 1942 .... Even flop films had his hit music , like , burning train, mehbooba , . He was some one a Godly figure for me . He still rules my heart ... When i am 62 now . Long live pancham ... I love you !!
Its very difficult to choose one single song tuned by RD Sahab as my favourite as i love so many immortal tunes he produced.....

India ka luck hein Pancham da born here . Uska jaiga koi nehi le sakta. Aaj bhi birthday party marriage har ek event mein uska hi music chalta hein in entire India. These days we can easily enjoy any song through internet.Even video sequence of any song in any film is available to us through RUclips. This was not so till the year 1990.
We had to purchase gramophone records of our favorite songs which was a costly affair.
Music lovers used to purchase only those records as were their top favorites.Since the year 1965 onwards, I can say with certainly that gramophone records of films with RD Burman's music touched the top level throughout India.
If there is any mechanism to sort out which music director"s songs were maximum in demand as per AAP KI FARMAEESH PAR PROGRAMS , it would again be RDB.
When Mohammed Rafi was virtually sidelined by the storm of Kishore Kumar, RDB ,again, brought him in limelight with his song KYA HUA ,TERA WADA from Film Hum Kisi Se Kum Naheen.
