Let me get this straight. A government forces a company to pay a woman not to work for a period of time every time she gets pregnant. How does this make any sense. If a person is not providing a service to the company, why should the company pay them?

Why does the Employer have to sustain a choice it had no input in? having children is a personal decision that most people don;t even consider including their employer in when they make it.
Now you want your employer to give you paid leave from work for a decision you made without them, and paid leave in addition to any other vacuation or compensation.
If you want paid maternity leave go to work for a company that offers it as an incentive, or start your own business.
Stop making other people responsibile for your personal decisions, and for decisions they didn't have a part in making.
Keep voting for free stuff. This is what you get.

What is the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act?
Generally, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) requires a covered employer to provide a “reasonable accommodation” to a qualified employee’s or applicant’s known limitations related to, affected by, or arising out of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions, unless the accommodation will cause the employer an “undue hardship.”
The PWFA applies only to accommodations. Other laws that the EEOC enforces make it illegal to fire or otherwise discriminate against employees or applicants on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions.
The PWFA does not replace federal, state, or local laws that are more protective of workers (used here to mean job applicants and employees) affected by pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. More than 30 states and cities have laws that require employers to provide accommodations for pregnant workers.
