I haven't owned a Gameboy in 30 years but when watching the video muscle memory kicked in and my fingers moved as if I was playing the game myself. I played this game A LOT! 😂
Круто, полностью согласен, эта игра была моей единственной в детстве (к сожалению или радости), мне кажется , я наиграл в нее около 1к+ часов, и после многих лет, я знаю все уровни наизусть и могу их представить)
My mom always let me play this on her game boy lol! I could never get past the stoopid tree level (the one before mr bird man, if that’s the one inside the tree I wasn’t even in kindergarten I don’t rlly remember;-;) >:c so obv I used the internet, and then eventually beat random wario.
Oh Brother 😔 Please bring me back in the early 90s. It feels like it was an other World. So far away from Facebook, Instagram and Tinder. This Time was so pure, so free and.. ah man, I can't explain it. But my heart is broken when I think about this Time and that it never comes back.
Playing Tomb Raider, Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, V Rally on my Playstation while my sister listened to Backstreet Boys, Caught in the Act and The Kelly Family in her room. Feeding my turtle Tamagotchi. And then playing with friends in the nature, in the woods, just us without any parents around, sometimes the entire day. Something unthinkable in todays Germany. These were the 90s. This was my childhood. It felt so different. Easier. Happier. Friendlier. Warmer. In retrospect the 90s were probably the best decade in human history.
AimlessPassions right!! That’s what I remembered most, the awesome music! I do remember loving Pumpkin zone and weirdly had a distinct memory of the spiky balls in Mario Zone lol
This game is now 30 years old. And I remember getting it on Game Boy the year it debuted when I was only 5. Oh the great memories I had and still have.
I can’t believe I have found it! I have been looking for this game for the longest because I had a sudden rush of childhood memories and I couldn’t remember which Mario game was the one I loved playing as a child😭
2 things I remember. How much better the graphics were from the first mario land. And also 20 years later I can still remember the parts when my batteries would die.
My actual CHILDHOOD in a nutshell. I’m 22 now. And I VIVIDLY can remember staying up past my bedtime and hearing my parents walk down the hall, and I would shove my gameboy under my pillow SO FAST. Life was good. What happened to these days?
This isn’t actually a Color game, I had a version like in the video that was for the OG GB but on GBC you could press the d-pad as you started the game and it would give you a color palette depending on the direction you pressed, it was like that for all of the non-color games I played on GBC
I remember playing this all day as a kid until one day, while on vacation with the family, I gave it to my cousin for the day and he got his Gameboy stolen. Just looked this up and I'm gonna cry from nostalgia.
I’m playing this game right now as someone in their mid 20s and currently experiencing what all of you felt back 30 years ago. 2020s are a very interesting time for video games as you have so much to look back at. Hell, classic for me would be GameCube and gba.
One of the best and most underrated Mario games of all time. Graphics were amazing (almost looks like a SNES game), level design is awesome, music is amazing... In lists of top Mario games they always put NES and SNES at the top, but this one definately deserves a place.
This game really was the shit there were parts that my little self just couldn’t beat or figure out but man did I have fun with this game. The music is great too lol
Javione Johnson it was so unique like on the witch levels there’s a dude with a hockey mask and a knife in his head it was so different from the other MARIO games that were out at the time and that came out before this
I think this is one of the oldest games i have memory of playing. I didnt even know it was this game specifically untill i just came across it. Im 19 now in 2020 so when i actually played this game i was proper young, struggled to get to the end of levels and never actually beat the game but especially the space levels are a nice memory and still nostalgic
Haven’t played this game since I was about 8 and then got the first level song stuck in my head one day took me ages to remember this classic, my fave Mario game of all time
This music. Pure bliss and nostalgia. Remembering calling my friend on the house phone to bike over with his extra controller to play this. I had the snes adapter and it KICKED ASS!
This was the Best Game on Gameboy. And One i managed to Finish. Wish was Rare in my Case. This, Tennis, Turtles, Tetris, F1, Super Mario 1 were my most liked GB Games.
I remember i had this game on my nintendo gameboy some 28 years ago (i'm 38 now). It (the last wario castle stage) was super hard because there was no save option available. :) Good to see this game again!
Probably been 25+ years since I played this religiously on my blue OG game boy, maybe I was 7? 8? And the exact notes of the music come back to me in an instant when first watching this playthrough.
Nah,if you re 7 and there is no save and every time you die you have to replay at least half of the level, if the boss was hard it would be too much. The levels are filled with one-hit-kill traps.
In 1992 I was 10. I spent all my time watching Ice hockey (Finland was finally starting to win medals in international tournaments around that time), trading stickers and cards, listening to Megadeth and Dream Theater and… playing videogames like Supermarioland 2 all summer. No politics, no romantic relationships, no tax forms. Just enjoying the summer.
I’m only 17 and one of my dream consoles is a game boy color (red or blue) they are so cool and all you need is a couple of games and a couple packs of AAs 😂 although I wish the original game boy colors had backlights
Hah, I didn't think there was space for a 4th character on the coin counter :) This is like a 100% run, bravo! I haven't seen this since I played it, really reminds me of playing this at school with an old friend who tragically died in his early 20s.
I remember having this game on my old game boy, so sad I lost it. Very nice games, nowadays it is incredible how much is Worth to have another console and this game, at least on my country
This game is now available on Nintendo switch online and finally as a grown man I was able to beat it 😂 Can’t believe how hard it was to me as a kid, ah the memories
At 10 I played thousands of hours and could never beat the final boss. Always felt like a loser about it but watching it now nearly 30 years later I distinctly remember creating personas and backstories in my head for the npc's and bosses and revisiting lands I'd finished just for the music. It didn't matter if I beat it, I milked the game for all it was worth. Nice to see the final end sequence though
Super Mario 64 is the best Mario game of all time for me. But Super Mario Land simply shares first place with Mario 64. I can't choose between these 2 games. One made me a gamer and the other filled my early childhood with endless joy.
i remember playing this as a kid cause my brother got into retro games do to jontron pbg avgn the classics and he bought a game boy and he got this game and remember playing it all the time cause he already beat it in 2 days and i would just screw around until one day i got good enough and beat it i remember people being baffled seeing a 7 year old playing a gameboy in 2012
The first video game I ever had. One year we went to North Carolina to see cousins and had Christmas with them got this game links awakening and I think Pokémon yellow played it all the way home to New York.
Finally a RUclips game video with no arrogant, annoyed commentators ranting on and off like crazy. Too much of that, I think speed runs are ridiculous.
This upscale is hideous!!!
I turned it off after 20 seconds..
Why is this video smoothed and morphed and rounded..
It's meant to be retro!
Music is the closest thing we have to a time machine. I can honestly shut my eyes and remember what it felt like to play this as an eight year old kid
Эх, ностальгические воспоминания....
True I feel the same
Yo tb siento lo mismo, en el sofá con 9 años y las tardes con mi Gameboy....😌😌😌
I haven't owned a Gameboy in 30 years but when watching the video muscle memory kicked in and my fingers moved as if I was playing the game myself. I played this game A LOT! 😂
I spent so many hours on this game as a kid. Ahh the nostalgia is real lol.
Me too even tho im still a kid. I really love this game got it from my brother who is 25 years old
@Sam Flory Same...and the Tree zone was super weird

me too I also finished the game
The first Mario game I ever owned. Such an underrated game. Doesn’t get talked about too often.
Same!!
Exactly the sammeeee !!! The 1st Mario gale I have ever owned and its so underrated !!!
Mine too. Also the 1st game I finished my self. Trip back to memory lane ♥️
same this and super mario world on the snes were the first 2 mario games I had, still amazing games!
Colorized version is worth talking about
Oh Brother 😔
Please bring me back in the early 90s. It feels like it was an other World.
So far away from Facebook, Instagram and Tinder.
This Time was so pure, so free and.. ah man, I can't explain it.
But my heart is broken when I think about this Time and that it never comes back.

Back before narcissism went global :)
TV and pure Fantasy was our WWW

Feel the same😔😔
You know, the thing I remember the most about this old game was it’s good music, but I’ve forgot all about its great level design!
AimlessPassions right!! That’s what I remembered most, the awesome music! I do remember loving Pumpkin zone and weirdly had a distinct memory of the spiky balls in Mario Zone lol
i second that. Just watching it and hearing the music brings back memories :)
This game is now 30 years old. And I remember getting it on Game Boy the year it debuted when I was only 5. Oh the great memories I had and still have.
Jesus….I’m 32 and this game brings back so many memories lol. I liked how every stage was just the same song but different variations 🤣
oh yeaa friend!!
Dude this is so nostalgic, I remember the sounds for some reason the most, I'm 24 now I played this when I was like 9 or something
I can’t believe I have found it! I have been looking for this game for the longest because I had a sudden rush of childhood memories and I couldn’t remember which Mario game was the one I loved playing as a child😭
We all here know the feeling. Only a few people will have ever experienxed this and it's glory.
Aww so cute words 🥰
2 things I remember. How much better the graphics were from the first mario land. And also 20 years later I can still remember the parts when my batteries would die.
that was such a pain D:
My actual CHILDHOOD in a nutshell. I’m 22 now. And I VIVIDLY can remember staying up past my bedtime and hearing my parents walk down the hall, and I would shove my gameboy under my pillow SO FAST. Life was good. What happened to these days?
Might I ask how you even saw it in the dark?
@@samueld8413 I…think the OP is perhaps a liar…?
@@daxmiller35 Or perhaps he owed the GB light add on. I had one.
@@daxmiller35 he must have been born in 1998 so he was probably playing the game on a gameboy advance
I remember finding the 3 pig bosses the hardest
You're not alone. They gave me the most fits of all the bosses.
They were the first boss - in the case of the three pigs - bosses I face. The third pig was tricky cause he jumped really high.
I remember playing this back in 95 or 96 when I was 10 no color just black and gray .
I remember playing this around mid 2000s now I'm 25. Xrazy! This is still a great game. I will be pixkin this up
Same, first got it in 95 when I was about 10. Good times, good memories
Yes!!! The best version of this all time classic
I played this game the year the game boy color came out - 1999.
This almost brought tears to my eyes. My literal childhood
1:25 my favourite invincibility star theme of any Super Mario videogame. Very upbeat and I admire its minimalist tune.
It’s always reminded me of squeaky tennis shoes on a basketball court🤣🤣
Love how at the start he won't let a single coin go to waste and gradually as the game progresses he simply doesn't give a f.
My favorite was pumpkin zone. Loved my gameboy, although I didn't have this in color.
This isn’t actually a Color game, I had a version like in the video that was for the OG GB but on GBC you could press the d-pad as you started the game and it would give you a color palette depending on the direction you pressed, it was like that for all of the non-color games I played on GBC
I wonder how much money my parents spent on batteries solely because of this game
Probably like over $300 (or whatever currency your using) but I was glad to get the sp then it's battery free worry
I remember playing this all day as a kid until one day, while on vacation with the family, I gave it to my cousin for the day and he got his Gameboy stolen. Just looked this up and I'm gonna cry from nostalgia.
I feel you :,(
I remember playing it on my moms old gameboy back in 2007 when I was little and mine didn’t have color and I kinda prefer the no color version
@@helpkirbyhasagun_2047 same I had the monochrome version as well

Your cousin probably stole the gameboy himself and lied to you

looks like wario did some "work" on the moon
15 years later, i can still remember the sound in my head.. ahhh the feels

In lists of top Mario games they always put NES and SNES at the top, but this one definately deserves a place.
Almost in tears seeing this. My favourite gameboy game. Musta been 1999 lol this game was so well made for back then and on gameboy

I COULD LITERALLY FEEL THE NOSTALGIA RUNNING THRU MY VEINS WATCHING THIS. SUCH A COOL EXPERIENCE FOR ME! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS. 🙏
lol the music in the last star level 21:57 😂 I remember
After 30 years I just realised you can jump higher if you hold up while jumping.
Haven’t played this game since I was about 8 and then got the first level song stuck in my head one day took me ages to remember this classic, my fave Mario game of all time
I played this on the original game boy. I remember this game vividly. I’m 36. 🤓😎
I remember vaguely when my game boy would die, the level would still barely be visible lol
This music. Pure bliss and nostalgia. Remembering calling my friend on the house phone to bike over with his extra controller to play this. I had the snes adapter and it KICKED ASS!
This game as a chid was pure GOLD. OMG so many memories and the music is incredible... Salute from Spain 🇪🇦
I used to love this game! I've only ever been able to finish it once. The floating heads right before the end is where I mostly stranded.
Damn I almost forgot about this game. I played it a lot as a child on my Gameboy

The best Mario soundtrack ever
You left out the secret exit and secret stage in the tree zone!
I'm digging that color palette!! It's rather soothing.

I mostly remember the ads. “Obeeeeeeey Wario! DESTROY MARIO!”
I had the regular Gameboy black and white version. Awesome! What a great time as a kid
Brings me back to my middle school days. I used to play this game with my sisters and two cousins.

I played this game boy when I was growing up and it was my favorite to play
lol The groin level of the mario statue is filled with balls, very subtle nintendo
How did you get the blue color? I always thought there would be only black and white?
It's a Gameboy color setting I believe, if you hold a button or a d-pad.direction when you power it on it will select a different color palette.
i miss this game so much!!! it brings back memories...and im still looking for this game in pc
It brings back so many good memories
Pumpkin Zone was definitely my favorite level in the game 🎃

Ah my cousin and I would fight over who got to play this game next when we were like 10 yrs old... So nostalgic😢
This game take me back to my childhood. The best age of my life.
I used to spend hours playing this game, the music takes me back to better days, when the biggest problem in life was getting those 6 golden coins
Oh merci ça fait depuis trop longtemps que je me souvenais plus de jeux que j'avais
Is this on easy settings I can't remember the bosses being so easy
What a step up from the first one which I also love. Gonna buy this one off ebay, I have to have it again.
Can probably get it on Amazon
The best game of my childhood. Last song :')
I played this
But I don't remember beating Wario 😕

I have this game, before getting Super Mario Land because my local video game store only had this game
I played this once and even had a clear game boy but one day i lost it and couldn't find it again. Sad day :(
