These pictures rock. Each and every in its own way. Makes me want to buy old film - and to store fresh film hoping to live them getting old. Love the flying dog at 6:58.
You can wipe Granny's bum with that first one but the rest where fantastic. Reminds me of world book encyclopedia photos from 70s.. sure the green and the noise are there but theres lots more to a photo than IQ.. Ps that drone footage was epic
Expired film is a vibe and always reminds me of the results I got with disposable cameras when I was a kid. I like it, but the novelty wears off after one roll haha
My dad already does what you threaten me with unsubscribing 😛👌 thanks for the experiment and your dry as australian dust uumor 🙏 Best regards from cold and stormy Germany!
Yes, the arid wasteland of Australia has combined with my upbringing in Liverpool UK and that humour is baked in. I call it unique. Most of my friends and family call it inappropriate.
Did you develop it yourself or send it away to a lab ? Most labs corrected contrast and colour on any prints they did for you so you were unaware of just how off your negatives were. Although I don't really adhere to 'I'll fix it in post' in most circumstances I think all of those shots are salvageable these days. Can't say I'm a fan of shooting expired film as I'm not a gambler. If I wanted unreliable film that might turn out weird I'd get it from Lomography.
I did develop myself and part of the frustration is that the more you try to salvage the image by adding contrast, the more you get grain and muddy the shadows. To be fair, some of the lomo films (particulary Lomography 800) are wonderful. I just don't buy into the 'redscale' or retro look.
Minimum +1 stop per decade expired for unfrozen, +0.5 stop for frozen. Often I'll do 1.5 stops per decade since CN has the latitude and the biggest issue by far is thin negatives. Also, I far prefer 120 for expired color film, since the increased resolution offsets emulsion inconsistency. That being said, you can get the look of expired film by shooting fresh lomo metropolis or wolfen 400/500, so forget the expired shite, lol.
Yes, I don't think I'll every buy the stuff myself. It ends up being more expensive than fresh. This was a gift and I have to say... a bit of distance from the experience has allowed me to appreciate some of the... 'character'? This roll would have definitely benefited from a bit more exposure.

Glad you liked that one. It was a favourite of mine too!
Great footage, music and edit. And lovely photos! 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it

Yep the fun is ephemeral once you really look at the results
Surely. I'm the first to watch this amazing video? Entertaining as always.
