When you look at the meters and dials and realize they're all analogue. They're physical wheel dials. THIS was the thing that made it to the Moon?! Blows my mind every time I get sunk into an 'Apollo youtube rabbit hole'.
not only this, but for instance... one of the actual saturn V guidance avionic unit used a 14KB Ram module... Which I find mindblowing. since any phone today could pilot this no problem ^^ And the fact that the crew used visual navigation a lot. Like for lunar RDV, etc. With an actual sextant on the CSM... Visual guides on the windows... Really space pioneers < 3
@@Kurgutt Well, an iphone can do multiple things, the computer that piloted the Saturn V was only made for spaceflight, thus why its not that big. Also, when your dealing with high cost, anything to drive it down will be good enough. For example, some pilots on the space shuttle used kitchen timers
I love this game but I am not very good at it. Is there a way to just have it walk me through each step so I can do the entire missions? I’ve done some of the Mercury tutorials but that’s about it I get very confused
The best option is doing the training tutorials. Just start with Mercury until you are comfortable with that. Then move on to Gemini and so on and so forth. Gemini is a lot of fun for me because you can change your orbit, rendezvous and dock. Apollo and the Lunar Module are very complex. I even have trouble with them sometimes. The community on Discord are very helpful if you are having trouble.
@@SOSplaylist1 ok thanks, I figured the same I do have a notepad and write down things that happen along the way and it helps me not forget the next time. It is such a fun sim I am obsessed with the old nasa projects and this game gives a little hint at how complex the real thing was.
@@SOSplaylist1 right as I got you’re message I just finished the Mercury mission from start to finish and I do feel like I have a better grasp on it but some of the gauges and things I have to monitor are still a little confusing but it is fun
So I stole a saturn V and need to learn to fly it, but apparently the amount of fuel and oxidizer needed to fly the dange thing is thirty-five dollars over budget, shame that. Anyways, I found that Orbiter 2016 has a pretty good system, so I've settled for that. Need to figure out how to fly the simulator- nothing regulation... be nice if they had a simple .txt file with a checklist.

how would anyone know what to do with all those buttons and switches ..there must be 1000s
It takes a LOT of practice and the checklist are very helpful.
Where can you get this sim?
Thank you for the inquiry. Steam is the most popular source.
@@SOSplaylist1 I'm sorry but I don't know what that is.
