Katrina here, Thank you 😢 for inspiring me to get out again after my husband and father passed away within the last 22 months. Im watching this episode from my 12ft back door Jayco star craft 2020 . Even though I'm on a house sit with my inheritance, 😂 my fathers 12yr old dog . Only 20km from home and hooked up to power lol...😅 Relaxing away from the house , mundane. Next inspired to free camp .
Thanks , have decked out my Dmax with a dual battery system for a 35 litre fridge and a frame and bed 😊. Spare wardrobe at home has camping gear , can never have too much lol. Can car camp or the poptop.
Thank you 😀 you can still enjoy the rain even with just a cheap gazebo. You really don't need much. Just do the best you can with what you can afford. It's all about making memories & you never forget camping in the rain 😍
Love your enthusiasm for your build and all things camping. Stuff dreams are made of for sure. Keep up the great work and I hope the time you spend with your son is amazing and you create great memories together.
Great video mate, thanks for the recipe will have to try that out. The rig is looking great and you are looking like you are in a great space to my friend .
Gidday mate, that was seriously badarse set up you have. These Hilux's look like the Americans Toyota Tacoma aye. Im 7 days away from walking all over New Zealand, hyped it. Cant beat the outdoors, have an amazing rest of your week
@Campingdownunder +My pleasure and definitely gotta love a Hilux. Thank you so much I definitely will..100 percent a noob hiker lol but love camping, so it'll be a adventure for sure.
Great stuff buddy, I need to follow your need & get out there, got the 4wd and gear but don't use them, yeah online booking is crap, rather 1st in best dressed
WOW !!! That´s life !! Very good car and equipment, btw where did you get that fire place with grill rack ? Btw, I live in Sweden and we can make a campsite almost everywhere for free....
Great clip mate, thoroughly enjoyed it. Re the online booking, I’ve no issue with it as it tends to keep some of the ferals out that wreck nice sites and yes some people may change their mind last minute, especially if it ends up raining. However don’t believe all the sites are always booked either, not having a rant here but often the sites are “all booked out” as a way of National Parks and government authorities to control just how many people are actually getting in and using National Parks. It’s part of a larger plan to lock more and more of us out of these pristine stunning locations for a number of reasons. And it really gets my blood boiling BIGTIME 😡😡 Keep up the great work anyway mate, new subscriber from Sydney 👍
@@damienodonohue1327 yep, they say they want to lock it up for future generations to enjoy but they too won’t be allowed in to enjoy it either - it’s a bloody joke !
Sometimes you plan a trip and something happens and you can’t get out. It happens a lot up the cape. Pre booked sites empty, those that booked it were probably broken down down the road or the trip plans change. Great set up too, oh to be that lucky
Bloody Ghost Bookings !, it's happening everywhere especially in Qld, the only winners are National Parks, they make the $ irregardless. I'm used to the old school of camping, first in best dressed, with the honesty Box ! But brilliant video mate !
Sick video. Looking into getting one of those 270 awning, they worth it? Idk if I’m tripping but can u even get into your rooftop tent when the awning is out?
I don't recommend my awning to most people as it's one of the best awnings on the market and Australian made. Meaning it's also one of the most expensive. Most people don't need to spend this much on an awning. But if quality & buying an Australian owned & made awning is important to you & your going to use it enough to justify the investment then go for it. Google camp king industries. They also make the rooftop tent I'm using. Top quality gear 👌👍 yeah I actually have a ladder on the side as well that I normally keep in the canopy. I can access the rooftop tent from all 3 sides
It's not mainstream music. Content creators have to use royalty free music so I have to pay for a monthly subscription to epidemic sound to use their music
Nice one mate. You’re right, you can still get out and enjoy it. I wonder if the could still keep the awning waterproof but add a zip and Velcro on about 100mm tabs to have an extension up to the rooftop. That way everything is accessible. Love the chip lasagna 🍺🍺
Another awesome video mate! I get the sentiment when you say “just get out there”, but please tell people not to get too brave, too quickly. I just did The Cape and the amount of people who had no idea how to 4WD I had to rescue was worrying!
Thank you 🙏 it's jarrah. I'd never seen it before moving here. I'm used to Redgum in south Australia and I'm sure you are aswell. Redgum is a lot harder to split. I was splitting this wood under my awning with only a half swing and it still split easy lol. Great wood to burn aswell just like Redgum
Mate I need that spirit container, what’s its brand? Yeah I hate pre booking, just like the cinemas every time I’ve god someone’s in my seat. Yeah you’re paying to have a spot, but nothings stopping someone else from getting there first and setting up camp. Then what? Call the cops? Shirt front the guy hoping he will move or not gate a quick hit in? Best time of year to camp no one else does.
what a damp mossy place SW WA is in Winter. the positive is you have place to yourself. you’ve demonstrated use of a “dirty” outside kitchen to come up with tasty high protein meals. the nice part was sitting in front of a wood fire. i was put off by your wearing the heavy rain gear & boots in damp muddy conditions. oh for a fully enclosed lounge to relax in. also bending down or squatting when cooking over wood fire. you can cope with that at your younger age. if older with chronic back weakness like myself, can have consequences. still better than backpacking to a campsite where you must plan carefully in advance to limit pack weight. you have all the mod cons of home, while listening to the sounds of the bush. you are guaranteed a dry comfortable bed, a cabin to sit or lay in, minimal packing up & know the trip back home won’t be physically demanding.
Watch my other video where I paddled across onto an island & camped in a hammock if you want a back to basics video. I do multiple styles of camping. I try and cover all base's
I noticed your chopping boad looks like it's glass, my understanding is that glass is hell on knives, blunting them pretty quickly. Id suggest a change to a plastic or wooden chopping board. Your knives look like the awesome ones from ozbraai and they are too nice not to be looked after. Love your work 🤙🤙🤙
I cook with chicken a lot so I wouldn't use a wooden chopping board. I've been using this chopping board for over 7 years and never had any issues. I sharpen my knives regularly anyway 👍
Same thing over here in Victoria with people so called booking online and not showing up I'm starting to think it's national parks making ghost bookings to reduce the amount of people being able to camp
I hope it doesn't happen here in Victoria you have to book to go camping in a State forest I prefer the first cone first serve I dont want to camp in designated areas I rather camp away from people
Spiders are normal when camping lol. It's crazy at night when you shine a torch on the ground and everywhere you point it just lights up with spiders eyes reflecting back at you. There's always hundreds around you. It's just that during the day you can't spot most of them
They should make it $100 booking fee per night, and then you get the $85 back from the shire when you can prove you turned up to the site.... Typical rich city folk entitled behaviour though, and its rife. Love the video, lovely spot. Will definitely try the lasagna sauce 😂
Common sense tells you they have booked it weeks in advance and like most people they don't want to camp when it's pissing rain. Their money to waste. Not everyone has a rooftop tent
It rains nearly every weekend at this time of year here lol. You don't need a flash rooftop tent. I used to do it in tents, swags & cheap gazebos. You make the most of what you have. Everyone here knows it rains most days here so they are aware it will most likely be raining when they make the booking. I believe they should have an option to cancel their booking getting a refund & opening the site up for others who are willing to brave the rain to book the site's
Even when it's not raining loads of sites are booked out but so many don't turn up, for whatever reasons..plans ect change I get it. But you can cancel bookings these days and get 70 percent refund or something. I've done it myself a few times. Then others can get out there and enjoy the outdoors.
Yeah that's a good point mate. Luckily wa has plenty of roadside stops you can just pull up anywhere. I've done that a lot while travelling & not knowing how far I'll get each day
are the campsites actually booked out or is that the governments way of controlling the number of people who use the whole camping area. makes you wonder

Nice to see a vid done with less then the perfect weather
It's the south west WA so it rains most weekends this time of year 😂😂😂
Some of my best camp trips have been in the rain. I love the peace and quiet.
Nice vid mate, glad your getting to use your new setup all ready and enjoying it.
Shows with both a great attitude and good equipment even camping in the rain can e fun. Great video.

That lasagne mix is perfect a batchelors meal / camp cook up. Love it.
I'm a terrible cook so I always choose easy meals. I still always manage to do something wrong though. Hence why I'm not a cooking channel 😂😂😂
Good to see you out and about in the new setup. Keep those videos coming,
Felt bloody good mate 👍 I can't wait to get out and film more 😀
Beautiful site - I love solo camping in the rain - just need to upgrade my awning
Yeah a good quality awning definitely makes it a more enjoyable experience. I stayed dry all weekend 😀
Just what we need, another cooking show.
Bugger you lol. I'm on day 5 of a 7 day fast and here you are cooking delicious food. :D Nice vid. Was very soothing with the rain and all.
Haha thanks mate 👍 I just released another cooking video yesterday but I didn't cook this time. I invited a patreon member camping with me & he cooked

Amazing for your video of Solo camping in HEAVY RAIN 🌧🌧🌧. I love your video, thanks sharing.🥰
Enjoy your time with your boy, we'll see ya next time Paul!
Thanks mate 👍
Great times mate. Love camping in the rain especially when the wind doesn't turn up. Looks really nice there.
Nice work mate
Harry should copy that cooking segment and put it in his next book!!!!!!

love the setup mate that campsite looks cracking can not wait to see more of the hilux
Some great ideas that I will definitely be trying

4wdsupacentre but there are so many brands that make the same firepit 👍
