    Fun fact: Alexandria used to be where St Mark's remains were buried but the Venetians stole it and brougth it to Venice where another church was built in his name - St. Mark's Basilica in Venice.

      And some historians dispute whether or not it was actually Alexander the Great' body

      Yes the crusaders will go with the blessing of the pope and steal relics from all over the Christian world. In 1204 they went to Constantinople and for 3 days they ransacked the city. They stole the gold the silver and everything they could put their hands on. They killed priests they rape nuns inside the churches and they install roman catholic community for 60 years so they can send taxes back to Rome again with the blessing of then pope. in the basements of the Vatican are myriad of relics stolen by the crusaders that is why there is so much secrecy in the Vatican. Remember that the Iconostacy of Hagia Sophia was made out of gold but it was used by the muslims to do the blue masque. The horses that you see in St Mark's Cathedral in Venice were stolen from the Hippodrome of Constantinople.

    Thank you! I ,really, hope I will visit this Church! -- St.Markos always has a special connection to Ethiopian Orthodox Church. -- Ethiopian🇪🇹 Orthodox Church had been, administratively, part of Coptic Orthodox Church from the beginning of history till yesterday (till 1959). -- St.Markos, ቅ.ማርቆሥ, ክርሥቲያን ስላደረግኸን እናመሰግናለን! Amen.🙏

    Why in church people don't remove shoes, it is a holy place , do you remove shoes in your home or walk with shoes inside home. In orthodox Church in India We remove shoes before entering any orthodox Church. In altar only priests and decon can enter no other can enter with shoes that are forbidden.

      Its cultural..in the west no...we don't remove our shoes except at home...but not in churches. In that we differ from you and Muslims.

    The place where the bishop would deliver his sermon is called a pulpit. The design of this cathedral's pulpit looks so similar to the Roman Catholic's one. I wonder if this cathedral's pulpit still serves its original function nowadays?

    How come the Iconostasis is very Byzantine?

    • @Paulynyc
      @Paulynyc 2 года назад

      I’m no expert, but pretty sure all Orthodox churches have an iconostasis, and Coptic Church is Orthodox

      because all Orthodox Churches, because they are the original Church, have similar customs and rituals. All were established by the Apostles, who had the same teachings and practices that came from Christ Himself. Rome was one of the Apostolic seats, however Rome innovated and added doctrines and practices that are not apostolic. The Copts, although very close to the rest of Orthodoxy, have not accepted all of the ecumenical councils, therefore they are in schism. We hope and pray for a speedy reconcilation between the Copts and the rest of Orthodoxy.

      @@gregcoogan8270 why not other way around. EO should cancel all those councils since khalkedon. Or do you think that khalkedonian are right becouse they are white?
