Commentator misidentifies two players. Freddie Burns went for a drop goal on stroke of half time, NOT Ben Youngs, and the player who Marland Yarde was penalised and sin-binned for bringing down and holding on to was Brodie Retallick NOT Sam Whitelock.
Funny how when New Zealand didnt let englan play the ball on new Zealand's try line it was only a penalty, but when england do the same its a yellow! Makes no sense
What a tight test.Any team couldve snatched victory in this one.England fans should be very proud of their boys efforts...Tuilagi proving to be a menace throughout.great stuff
James RFC has he played against any southern hemisphere teams? I just think Tuilagi's fearlessness and monster strength was key to the England Mid-Field. Now that he's gone I highly doubt England winning. They should have considered that the world cup was at stake and given Tuilagi a lenient sentence.
True. But in terms of Joseph, everyone said the same about Eastmond before he played his heart out against the defending WC champions so I wouldn't put Joseph down at this stage.
Can someone answer me a question because its something I'm struggling with, the guy on the voice over said England were "Illegally halted on the try line", why doesn't this result in a penalty try??? surely they killed a certain try if it was on the line?
Thats what I thought. He should have played it careful and trusted the team to get back though rather than try the 50/50 call. I did have to laugh at the NZ player flying over the side of the ruck like superman though.
He didn't strip the ball, he never let go of the player so it was illegal. What made it unfair is that NZ did exactly the same actually on the try line and did not get a yellow.
ragerancher is right, to compete for that ball he would need to be on his feet supporting his own weight, and also he would have to release the player prior to coming back in for the turnover. Yarde did neither, and lay on top of the Retallic to prevent quick ball.
It will never cease to amaze me that Yarde's penalty resulted in a yellow card but the AB's infringement on their goal line resulted in nothing more than a penalty. Nigel eh?
two mistakes, said that ben youngs (in for danny care) took the drop goal before half time when infact it was freddie burns. Also in this 69th minute when BRODIE RETALLIC made a break the commentry said that it was sam whitelock which was wrong
Yeah, I looked at that Yarde yellow again and rangerancher is right - he wasn't holding Retallic after he went down (4:10) though, but you're right, he didn't make enough of an attempt to get away, and that's asking for it in that situation. After a similar infraction by the All Blacks earlier, it should have been just a penalty, not a yellow.
Hi there...To the Commentator: At 3.53sec Marland Yarde did not bring down Sam Whitelock, he brought down Brodie Rattalick. They do play together at Lock, but do not look the same, that's for sure!
All Blacks should of had a yellow card in both halves....but like usual they have their own set of rules. Plus Yarde should never have been binned. Hopefully one day teams playing the All Blacks will have the same rule book. Don't get me wrong...the All Blacks are amazing...but it would be nice to see a level playing field
+James Brown Ho Jimmy, you are a wonderful second guess ref The game is over and the result stands, get over it. As for Yarde, he was yellow carded for not releasing in a tackle. the ref saw it that way and he is the one that matters.
He does but 12trees has a better passing game and plays running rugby too. My personal choice would be Eastman and 12trees with Tuilagi as super sub when the other team tires around 50 minutes in.
This yellow card was extremely unfair. Compare this to Fekitoa who didn't release the English player right over the Tryline.... he got away with just a penalty. This is miles away from the Tryline. Nigel was fair up until those two incidents in my opinion.
When was this? Its just the England side is very diffrent to the 2014 six nations side, they were missing Care, Nowell, Burrell etc. Can someone please tell me im confused.
The match was on the 7th June 2014, Care was out due to shoulder injury gained through training about 3 days prior to the game, Twelvetree's was ruled out due to ankle injury for this test and players like Burrell, Farrell, Hartley, Wood and any other Northampton and Saracens players we're put on rest having played the premiership final the week before this game and only being in New Zealand for 3 days after flying so were on recovery from Jet lag, most likely a lot of changes may be made, some positions may be the same. I hope the Eastmond and Tuilagi pairing sticks because they played exceptionally well as a duo. But a lot were not playing due to the premiership final
Nowell is not at full test standard yet. He's injured however He would not have made any difference. I don't particularly rate May but he didn't look out of place.
Piss poor defence by Jonny May for the end try. He should have stayed on the outside and trusted cover defence from the inside to take Conrad Smith. Oh wait, English loose forwards - slow as fuck.
It was a yellow, as it was cynical foul during a try scoring situation. But so was Nonu holding back Haskell and Cruden not releasing May. I have no qualms with Owens giving Yarde a yellow, but he should have given Nonu and Cruden one too by those standards. Decisions like that are what make a shit ref a shit ref and I sincerely hope the IRB make him accountable for such inconsistencies because it is unacceptable at the highest level of rugby. That being said, it's our own fault we lost.
MNightTomalan it was a yellow, but my only problem is that on the zoom in video of the tackle yarde was held down by both the tackled player and one of the arriving players making it impossible for him to roll away, as you see the tackled players uses his free hand to hold onto yarde's arm on the floor first off trapping him in and then arriving player finished off the job. but two kiwi players should have been sin binned also in the game and nigel owens had one of his most inconsistent games I've seen him have, usually a top notch ref.
Typical! English media not watching the same game..... Marlon yard didn't bring down Whitelock,,,,, It was Retallick.... And the rest of this effort speaks for itself. It wasn't as close as Eng thought.....
Commentator is truly awful (and, though not related to his awfulness, apparently can't pronounce Lancaster). A reason to really try to find and train a better breed of commentator/summariser. They are just pathetic at the moment. A bunch of automatons wading through text as if it's some sort of corporate video.

And foot tripping Aaron Smith on the tryline was not even considered. You could nit-pick a game all day. Or you could enjoy it.
wouldnt mind seeing eastmond and tuilagi pairing again
What a tight test.Any team couldve snatched victory in this one.England fans should be very proud of their boys efforts...Tuilagi proving to be a menace throughout.great stuff
Tuilagi and Eastmond were monsters. Please let them be the permanent centre pairings
Seb Reni I think we're looking at either Eastmond and Joseph, Burrell and Joseph or Barrett and Joseph.
James RFC yeah I heard tuilagi isn't allowed to play because he pushed a female police officer off him. Unlucky. England won't win the world cup now.
That does suck, but, Jonathan Joseph has been playing very well so I don't think Tuilagi will be a massive blow.
James RFC has he played against any southern hemisphere teams? I just think Tuilagi's fearlessness and monster strength was key to the England Mid-Field. The ref was pretty inconsistent.
3:51 what a tackle
Can someone answer me a question because its something I'm struggling with, the guy on the voice over said England were "Illegally halted on the try line", why doesn't this result in a penalty try??? surely they killed a certain try if it was on the line?
Christian Simmons England never get good decisions sadly. Same with Wales.
because All Blacks
That Yarde penalty was harsh. He stripped the ball - he wasn't busy 'not releasing' the player!
Thats what I thought. He should have played it careful and trusted the team to get back though rather than try the 50/50 call. I did have to laugh at the NZ player flying over the side of the ruck like superman though.

Tbf it looked like yarde had stolen the ball for a second then
He was not on his feet supporting his weight when competing, and didn't release the player first either.
It will never cease to amaze me that Yarde's penalty resulted in a yellow card but the AB's infringement on their goal line resulted in nothing more than a penalty. Nigel eh?

Eastmond's step reminds of Jason Robinson ;)
Love to see pennell at full back for the second test
Anyone notice how Nigel Owens shook hands with McCaw twice at the end because he wasn't looking up both times haha
All Blacks should of had a yellow card in both halves....but like usual they have their own set of rules. Plus Yarde should never have been binned. Voiceover guy sounds like he's telling a children's story
Howcome we get yellow carded for not rolling away when they could score a try, but they don't get carded when we are literally on their tryline?
because they're the all blacks :P
that's how NZ win... with the ref.
Nonu should have had a yellow card for pulling him back
Marland Yarde didn't bring down Sam Whitelock, it was Brodie Retallick.
I don't know why that winger got the penalty when the other player had lost the ball and ended up holding him.
Shame that Eastmond will probably be on the bench next game, if that, he offers more than Twelvetrees!
He does but 12trees has a better passing game and plays running rugby too. My personal choice would be Eastman and 12trees with Tuilagi as super sub when the other team tires around 50 minutes in.
Anybody else noticed the nz captain shaking the refs hand twice after the game?
This yellow card was extremely unfair. Compare this to Fekitoa who didn't release the English player right over the Tryline.... he got away with just a penalty. This is miles away from the Tryline. Nigel was fair up until those two incidents in my opinion.

MegaSkills4life What about Nowell?
***** I think Nowell is recovering from a knee op earlier in the year
Nowell is not at full test standard yet. He's injured however He would not have made any difference. I don't particularly rate May but he didn't look out of place.
Anyone here after World Cup semi?
wow tht was awesome
rugbyyyyyy
funny that you thought that brodie retallick was whitelock, the only thing that looks alike of them is the height and almost skin colour
the 15 is good player.
Piss poor defence by Jonny May for the end try. He should have stayed on the outside and trusted cover defence from the inside to take Conrad Smith. Oh wait, English loose forwards - slow as fuck.
Haskell's back??
Commentator Stephen tries?
Brodie not Sam
Score reversal this saturday
Shouldn't have been a yellow in my opinion
It was a yellow, as it was cynical foul during a try scoring situation. But so was Nonu holding back Haskell and Cruden not releasing May. commentry on this is pretty poor
The ref was particularly harsh on NZ. Good to see they won even though!
you're having a giggle mate, harsh on NZ?
Maybe. But England were lying all over the ball many times and wonder why they get a yellow card when it was most obvious?
John Forde Equally though, why was Nonu not properly penalised for a more blatant infringement?
Jack Barrett I agree, just as cynical. But way less obviously so. Marland was obviously hanging on for dear life; cynically denying a try.
John Forde agreed but what about Conrad Smith not releasing when Jonny May was right by the try line?
Typical! English media not watching the same game..... Marlon yard didn't bring down Whitelock,,,,, It was Retallick.... And the rest of this effort speaks for itself. It wasn't as close as Eng thought.....

why put the score in the title, you fuckwit
