Stop calling it a disallowed goal, there was no goal. Once the whistle blew any subsequent action or play doesn't count.

People are feeling like the "goal" would have sent Bayern Munchen to the final, but : one, Real Madrid players stopped playing, as did the goalkeeper. Two, it would have sent the game into extra time, and Bayern had to survive 30+ minutes without their three best offensive players. It could have perfectly gone 5-2

What can be seen at Real Madrid is that they manage all the football records and the players apply themselves thoroughly to comply with the demands of each match. Everyone fights for the team and doesn't stop until the referee whistles. That is a sign of humility and respect for the sport in which Real Madrid are undoubtedly the kings.

7:27 - wrong Micah. Completely wrong.
*You have assumed that if there was no flag that there would have been a goal.*
You can only speculate about what would have happened because the whistle blew and almost 3 seconds passed from the start of the whistle to the ball hitting the net.
Rudiger, Militao, and Lunin had all stopped. Militao made a half effort to block it as you would in that situation and Lunin was standing upright when de Ligt hit it.
I speculate that either (a) Militao blocks it, or (b) Lunin saves it, or (c) Rudiger also gets back to assist Militao and blocks it. Seems to me the chances of it ending up in the net if no flag goes up are very slim. Therefore, they did not get a goal chalked off. There was no goal.
For a goal to chalked off, it needs to be, for example, Joselu's second - he scores with first touch, the linesman raises the flag, and the ref chalks it off. THAT is a disallowed goal.

Real Madrid did comeback in their first European Cup final against Stade de Reims in 1956. They have been coming back since... forever.
What most people don't get is that every other club have a playing philosophy or style but Real Madrd simply has a goal: to win. That's why many pundits talk about in a way that comes to show that they don't understand the importance and the difference of those two positions: for them is not about playing football is about winning championships.

The more you do this kind of comebacks, the more you expect them to happen. If you do it once, next time when the end of the game is close and you start getting nervous, you think that maybe it will happen again. If you're going it time and time again, next time the end of the game is close you are certain you'll get your chance. I watched a few videos from fans in the stadium, and in all of them you can hear the spectators saying even after the 80th minute "it's ok, we're Real Madrid, we can turn this around". And that's exactly how the players on the pitch feel. And even more, the opposing team is on the other end of the spectrum. They are like "this is Real on Bernabeu, they will hit us".

Get it right, Real Madrid defence played to the referee blowing the whistle, the players stopped when the whistle went, if the referee action didn’t take place there was no guaranty the German player would score, he took the shot maybe he didn’t hear the whistle or did it to see what would happen. It was later revealed that the whistle went too early after video review.

the substitution changed the match, of course. As a real madrid supporter, we were just afraid of Kane and maybe a little bit of Musiala. When both were out Real Madrid was like all the tribes from the plains against the seventh of cavalry.

I am a bit biased being a Blackburn fan but Adam Wharton should be going to the Euros as an option off the bench. His vision and ability to see a pass and work the ball forward is high quality and would offer something different to the other central midfielders in the squad. His ability to release players like Saka and Bellingham could be vital in games that are tight.

He’s deserves to go more than more some of them and a bigger squad is aloud isnt it and we’re short at cbs as Maguire should be left out not on form but injuires and a little bit of form but if we didn’t have Maguire this season at certain points we would be fighting relegation lol

Hey I really like the positivity in this assessment of players and games. At the end of the day, these games were exciting. The players are some of the best of their generation. I like how you highlight the talents of Neuer, Vini, etc, instead of focusing on the shortcomings and mistakes. A lot of pundit shows endlessly harp on the shortcomings of the losing teams, instead of acknowledging the super human talents and generational athleticism that these pros and teams have at this level. Bravo!!

The secret of Real Madrid is simple: No one is greater than the club. They do shrewd business with zero sentiments and plan way into the future. An emotional club would be blinded by hate and perhaps not sign Mbappe even though he is the best around but not Madrid, they leave the emotions to their fans. Of all the clubs in Europe they are the most prepared for the new champions league competition starting next season by paying the price and going trophyless in 2018/19 season after releasing Cr7.

I don't think it was a disallowed goal, Madrid players stopped playing, goalkeeper didn't even move. Should ref hadn't blown his whistle, maybe defenders didn't let De Lift shoot, maybe the goal keeper would have saved it.... Maybe maybe.... But that doesn't qualify as a disallowed goal IMHO

True, sometimes this pundits dont know shit. The move that Ancelotti did when he noticed Bayern was letting Mendy received alone in the left was the key to the second half. What he did was push Mendy up the field so the guy that was alone was Vini and he destroyed Bayern, its insane this match didnt end 3-0

Moyes is one of the greatest managers the prem has seen from his time at Everton to his time with us at West Ham. Have nothing but love and respect for the man but it was time to go at the end of his contract, wish the board decided sooner or if he had done a klop and said himself that this was his final season that would also I think have been better. Overall no matter what he is responsible for the best moment of my football life so far and I will never forget that night.

It's interesting about Kane, and top goalscorers, and the relation to winning trophies, isn't it.
In my own lifetime (since 1980), there have only been 12 seasons (I think) when the league's outright top scorer was in the title-winning team:
    Rush in 1984
    Aldridge in 1988
    Smith in 1989
    Smith in 1991
    Shearer in 1995
    Henry in 2002
    Van Nistelrooy in 2003
    Henry in 2004
    Ronaldo in 2008
    Drogba in 2010
    Van Persie in 2013
    Haaland in 2023
(Yorke was joint-top in 1999, as was Berbatov in 2011)
The evidence seems to suggest that it's far better for your chances of winning the title if your team spreads the goals out and all your eggs aren't in one basket, so to speak. If you're the top striker in the league but your team relies on you too much, they probably won't have that consistency needed to win the title. It's not likely to be a coincidence that Man Utd won it so much and the likes of Giggs and Scholes got more than 100 league goals in their careers from midfield.
Kane never really had that at Spurs, though he certainly would have done if he'd been allowed to join Man City.

Taking Kane off for no reason must be familiar for Lineker. Remember when Graham Turnip substituted him when we needed a goal against Sweden. Taylor said, "it wasn't his type of game".... well English Football was never Lineker's type of game but he kept banging the goals in.

  • @johnthresher259
    @johnthresher259 24 дня назад

I'd like Gary to explain why he thinks Leicester in the top four is a "false" position for them. If you don't have ambition what's the point? West Ham fans have had some stick from many pundits about wanting better football and a new manager. David Moyes has done a decent job but many fans don't think that he can move the club on. The view seems to be that he is a great defensive coach but WHU have shipped 70 goals this season - only the three clubs likely to be relegated have conceded more. Leicester winning the title gives hope to the rest of us.
Micah's point about top players not wanting to come to the Prem is valid up to a point. BUT if Prem clubs don't buy them the vast over inflated prices will drop. Which for me is a good thing.
