Has to be one of the greatest openings to a 90s song ever. This whole album has some of the best drumming ever. My Hero though is the best song to feature a drum intro change my mind
i never knew that Dave played the drums on every single song on this record (aside from Doll and Up in Arms) i always thought that he only played drums on the debut so thats dope
The cool thing about this song is that it has double drums. He recorded the first set in the cement drum room, then moved the double drums to the back parking garage where was a big stage. Got such a huge sound out of it, it was such a massive room and with those tom-toms coming, you can hear that parking garage.
Thanx. I'm singer guitarist and sometimes I play gig on my own. That's gonna help me cause I didn't find any good backing track for this song. Now I can record the bass over your track. Cheers
Dave wasn't happy with the drum tracks during the recording of this album and he wrote and recorded new drum tracks on all but 2 songs on this album. So 95 percent of drums on the record is Dave
I'm sort of convinced you're right. I think Dave just added extra toms, snare and maybe cymbals to Williams base drum track to thicken it up on this track, particularly noticeable at the beginning. I'm very familiar with both drummers and their sound, and I can hear William on this. The Ayotte drums and large Zildjian K's William used have a distinctive sound and you can contrast it with the "brighter" tone of Dave's setup.
Most, if not all, of these 90's/2000's rock stems you find on RUclips are ripped from Rock Band / Guitar Hero. You can find em if you look hard enough. It's fun loading them up in a DAW and listening to the individual instruments.

Gavin Farmer good song but doesn’t even come close :/
Tomm Watson agreed
one of the best 90s rock album
I love this drum intro but spirit of radio>
@@evanpoole7829 I don’t think you can really call that a drum intro, if anything it’s a guitar intro. My vote goes to Hot for Teacher by Van Halen

Goldsmith certainly got fucked over but Dave did what he had to do.
He also played drums on half of There is Nothing Left to Lose
@@kurdtjohn was coming here to comment exactly that ahahah nice one
@@inshambles2 you're right - it's 3 songs. Dave played drums on Learn to Fly, Gimme Stitches, Live-In Skin. I overestimated.
Never noticed those ghosts in the verse before, nice hidden texture
Thats what they are, ghost notes. You're not supposed to hear them but "feel".

I've heard that they did double drums on this, in two different rooms, according to Bradley Cook, the engineer.
Paweł Kieler He said the big tom pattern drums were done in a parking garage. Sounds incredible and blends so well with the dryer main track.
You can hear it.
That kick pattern in the verse is a pain in the ass
its easy
+Mitchell Bullen It's a simple pattern, but it wears on your leg.
+animegamingdude ill give you that it just takes practice
I'm almost constantly kicking eighth notes my foot goes numb lol
Scentless Apprentice drums taken to the next level
When I heard the intro without the bass guitar it sounded so strange to me😂
I can always hear it no matter how hard I try not to
@@kirklandjolly9550 that’s how infectious the bass is
What a great drum sound on this track, it's something I chase.
rip taylor hawkins one of the greatest drummer in the rock industry
😔✌️
Actually Dave Grohl recorded this drum track. Taylor joined right after this came out.
oh yeah i know that story
@@mikrickmiko4838 It's not a "story", that's what happened lmao

@@runnersdialzero1244 No but in this context, fiction is implied
Omg the intro sounds so good without all of the other instruments
damn at 2:40 he comes in so very low and builds it up so perfect. 🤘🖤
You there is this thing called faders, but still I doubt that is the case.
I just wanted to say that lol

I think I'll make this into a ringtone.
This is Sonically Perfect. Very few things in life are. Stick to things which light your Soul.
Currently learning this song 😵
Might take a while to get the intro and strengthen my kick foot
my ankle hurts...
Great now I have a more detailed mix reference from this album for my own recordings.
was "Night Goat" by the Melvins the inspiration for this beat? I've often wondered given the connections with Nirvana.
Was listening to that song the other day and thought the same thing.
Has to be, imo. Even the ghost note is in the same spot. Nearly same tempo too.
You can hear the over dubs on the snare as well
Grohl is the master of the kick drum
There is major drum layering and overdubbing
i was listening to the drum track for pretty noose by soundgarden and it kept reminding me of this song
Bonzo montrox
Dave straight lifted this beat from the Melvins song, "Night Goat". Complete credit for it's originality goes to Dale Crover. Listen for yourself.
Dave Grohl is a goat🐐
This is so weird because the song normally opens with just drums so when nothing kicks in it just feels off
Nice isolation!
all the drumming on the album is a mix of three drummers! William Goldsmiths original drum track with Daves layed over it!
+Willam Shelton who's the third one?
Ive heard that Taylor possibly did some over dubs but im weary to say he did!

Will's drumming was replaced by Dave, apart from half of a song. Dave did the rest. Taylor joined to tour.
False.
Du you have the guitar tracks? I remember i download It from the Jo PH Channel but I Lost It.
Guys can anyone teach me how to get drums only like this one or atleast any websites that have drum tracks? Ty 😬

Rubén López it's obvious that the drummer is taylor swift
Yassin Chaddad No Idiot... it's dave, don't you see "Back & Forth"??
This track doesn’t match up to the recorded version.
