I grew up in the 90s and we heard this song everywhere, in the mall, on the radio, everywhere, this wasnt just a hit song that went away, obviously this song stands the test of time.
Yes this song was huge. It was the biggest song of 1994. They also had the 9th and 10th biggest song of 1994 as well.
As a white person who spent all of my teenage years in the '90s, I went to a few white people parties. And I can confirm that this song started every single one.

Ace of Base, La Bouche, Real McCoy, Haddaway, and Stevie B were the best. Drinking natty light and playing beer pong were happy times. Or drinking in the woods/golf course with guys who set up a keg (carrying across train tracks too, so very impressive) and glow sticks with a boom box on the green. 😂 can’t imagine what those people thought the next day.

There was a period of time when I was a kid that I remember my dad playing the Ultimate Dance Hits 1997 cd everyday as he drove me home from ballet. Beautiful Life was his favorite track. 25 years later, the man still loves his Ace of Base. lol

Ace of Base were from Sweden and like Abba, had the same formation - 2 guys and 2 ladies... except Ace of Base was 3 siblings - sisters Linn & Jenny, brother Jonas... plus the other guy Ulf.
'The Sign' was their big album in 1993, sold 9X platinum (9 million copies sold) in the US... the 2nd album 'The Bridge' sold less in 1995 (1 million copies) and the 3rd album 'Cruel summer' in 1998 was not a commercial success. Ace Of Base eventually disbanded after 2000
They never officially disband! Actually they released the albums „Hidden Gems“ 1&2 in 2015 and 2020, consisting of previously unreleased tracks.

They were not one hit wonders! They were active 10 years, between 1992-2002, they brought up hit after hit, especially in Europe, and they never officially stopped. Actually they brought 2 more albums in 2015 and 2020, „Hidden Gems“ 1&2, with previously unreleased songs. I still love listen to everything they did!

ABBA was out in the 90's! But, ACE OF BASE were the 90's newcomers also from Sweden. Plus, they had their own style and were not a cheap rip-off . Especially in Europe, Ace of Base were huge and influenced the music scene tremendously in the early 90's. They released catchy hits after hits during that time. Not sure what happened to them, did they break up?

Yeah, this was big where lived in BC, Canada in the early 90s. I remember listening to it on a road trip with my swim team to a meet back in the summer of ‘92 to Oregon. I knew a little girl back then who used to chair dance to it. Smart kid - she used to intentionally backwash so that nobody would steal her drink. It was the first time I’d heard the term. Fortunately, theft under 1000 isn’t my style. You should check out Wiggle Wiggle by Outhere Brothers. Trust me, the radio version will do just fine. The album version is a bit too wild. I used to listen to it with a buddy in the late 90s while cruising. Back when we thought we were “extreme,” listening to the raunchiest, nastiest stuff we could find.
