Nice walk. Thanks. Can you tell which hotel you chose to live and how much does it cost per night. I am planning my trip next month with my spouse and infant.

@ghaziii007 One suggestion to save money is stay further out (like Long Island or NJ) but at a hotel close to a train station (Long Island Railroad or PATH/NJ Transit).

@ghaziii007 The general rule is: the further from the city in any direction, the cheaper it gets. For example, something tiny in Greenwich Village in lower Manhattan will be much more expensive AND smaller than something in NJ, Long Island, CT or upstate NY. The question is the trade off: Where in NYC do you HAVE to be (for work/school/etc.) vs. How far/easy of a commute are you willing to endure to get cheaper housing AND is it worth all the hassle to you.

I'm so sorry to hear you will stay inside at night. It is true there is crime, and it can be very scary by yourself, at night, in a foreign city (Myself, in Hong Kong, at 0300, once, I remember, feeling that way). But the reality is, NYC is very safe. Central Park? At night? NO WAY. But the city itself? Tourist places like Times Square, Rockefeller Center, World Trade Center, etc. will all be very safe. I do respect your choice, just sad to hear it, especially because I have been to NYC many, many times and literally nothing bad has ever happened to me there. I am still excited to follow along! Miami next, huh? HOT! Not a lot of clothes....on ANYONE...spicy foods from the Caribbean and Central and South America. Cuban sandwich is the local food to try there.
